Velvet curtains framed a massive window overlooking a lush garden. Gilded furniture surrounded him. He caught sight of a silver mirror on the wall and took hesitant steps toward it.
As his reflection came into view, Xie Ran froze.
The person staring back wasn't him.
It was an impossibly pretty young man with a refined, almost delicate appearance: soft black hair, icy blue eyes, and a pale, flawless complexion that seemed to glow. His lips naturally curled upward, giving him an unapproachably elegant vibe.
"Oh," Xie Ran muttered, touching his face. His voice was smooth and melodious, unfamiliar yet appealing. "Well, this is an upgrade."
