Xender was taken back to their headquarters, a stately home on the outskirts of town, by Rufus and Peter.
The estate had an impression of mystery and exclusivity because it was encircled by dense trees and a high wall.
Xender was astounded by the estate's magnificence as they entered it. The room was opulently furnished and featured pricey furnishings and artwork.
Rufus took her to a large bedroom where a team of medical professionals waited to treat her wounds. Xender was appreciative of their attention and quickly felt much better.
Following her medical care, Rufus and Peter asked her about her history. From her early years to her most recent experiences with the paranormal, Xender shared with them all she could recall.
Xender couldn't help but notice how Peter and Rufus gazed at her as they conversed. Peter's eyes were tender and warm, while Rufus's were sharp and intense.
She became aware that she was drawn to both of them, and her heart began to race. However, she was unsure of how to deal with her emotions or what they meant for her future.
At the conclusion of the interrogation, Rufus got up and excused himself. Peter remained and assisted Xender in standing up. Peter responded, "Thank you for telling us the truth," as he fixed her with his gaze. "We'll do everything we can to keep you safe." With a smile on his face, Xender expressed gratitude to Peter. "Thank you," she offered. "I appreciate it." Xender sensed a spark of electricity between them as they stood there.
Peter took a step toward her, so she knew he felt it too. Rufus entered the doorway just as it looked like he was going to plant a kiss on her. He said, "Peter, we need to talk," in a somber and hushed voice. With his gaze fixed on Xender's face, Peter nodded. When he said, "I'll be right back," Xender was disappointed to see Peter leaving the room after Rufus.
She was left wondering what might have happened after thinking that Peter would kiss her. However, Xender was deep in concentration when she heard a sound outside the chamber. It had the weighty, purposeful sound of footsteps.
The realization that someone was pursuing her sent a chill down her spine. Then a figure stepped in as the door to her room sprang open. She was a tall, commanding woman whose gaze seemed to pierce Xender's whole being.
She said, "Welcome, Xender," in a voice full of hate. "I've been waiting for you." When Xender discovered the reality, her heart missed a beat. The attacks on her had been orchestrated by this woman. However, Xender noticed something that chilled her as she gazed into the woman's eyes.
A flash of insight. The woman's voice sent chills down Xender's spine as she continued. She declared, "You're my daughter," Xender's entire planet darkened.
Xender glanced at the woman, her mind spinning. Her daughter? It was not doable.
Xender said, "I don't understand," while attempting to maintain a steady tone.
The woman grinned, amusement glimmering in her eyes. She asked, "You don't remember, do you?" "You don't remember who you really are." Confusion gripped Xender as she shook her head.
What was this woman discussing? The woman's intense eyes blazed as she moved closer to Xender.
"You're not just any ordinary human, Xender," she replied. "You're a supernatural being, just like me." Xender's eyes became wide with surprise. A supernatural entity? Even so, what did that mean?
However, the woman went on before she could ask any more questions. "You were born with a special gift, Xender," she stated.
"A gift that makes you incredibly powerful." As Xender attempted to comprehend this knowledge, her mind was spinning. A unique present? What sort of present?
However, the woman dropped a bombshell before she could ask any questions. "You're the key to unlocking the secrets of the supernatural world, Xender," she declared.
"And there are those who will stop at nothing to get their hands on you." When Xender discovered the reality, her heart missed a beat. She was seriously endangered.
However, the woman spoke again before she could respond. Her words, "Don't worry, Xender," "I'm here to protect you." Xender's gaze grew strained. Why should she put her trust in her? She was unknown to her.
However, the woman grinned before she could ask any questions. "You can trust me, Xender," she said. "I'm your mother." Xender's entire planet darkened.
Xender was laying in bed with her head throbbing when she woke up. She looked about as she sat up. Where had she gone?
Then she caught sight of him. Peter was observing her every action from a chair next to her bed. Xender whispered, "Peter," hardly raising her voice much above a whisper. Peter's eyes wrinkled at the corners as he grinned. His words were, "Hey, Xender," "Welcome back." When Xender discovered the reality, her heart missed a beat.
Peter was also complicit. But Peter spoke again before she could respond. He said, "Xender, I have something to tell you," in a somber and hushed voice. With her heart thumping in her chest, Xender's gaze met his.
And what would he say? Peter was going to say anything when the room's door suddenly flew open.
Rufus appeared, his enraged eyes flashing. He hissed, "Peter, what's going on here?" Peter sprang to his feet, his gaze fixed on Xender's face. His words were, "Rufus, I can explain," However, Rufus spoke again before he could finish.
His voice was full with hate. "You're not who I thought you were, Peter," he continued. Xender's eyes became wide with surprise. What was happening? Rufus was going to strike Peter when Xender glimpsed something that chilled her to the bone.
Peter's body was starting to change, and his eyes had gone yellow. He was a werewolf. Xender looked at Peter, her eyes wide with surprise. Was he a werewolf? How could that have happened? Rufus gazed at Peter, his eyes burning with rage. Growling, "You're a traitor," he said.
Rufus spoke in a low, threatening voice, and Peter's eyes met his. When he said, "I'm not a traitor, Rufus," "I'm just trying to protect Xender."
As Xender attempted to comprehend this knowledge, her mind was spinning. Was Peter, a werewolf, attempting to keep her safe? But Rufus attacked Peter before she could question him. A barrage of kicks and punches erupted between the two of them.
As the two guys battled, Xender stared in fear. She was at a loss for what to do. Then, just when it appeared that Rufus was going to win, Peter changed into a werewolf.
As Xender gazed at Peter's werewolf form, her eyes widened in surprise. His teeth and claws were razor sharp, and he was large and strong. Rufus staggered back, his terrified eyes wide. Growling, "You're a monster," he said. Peter's eyes were flaming with rage as his werewolf form roared.
Saying, "I'm not a monster, Rufus," "I'm just trying to protect Xender." Xender felt sorry for Peter. She was aware that he was attempting to keep her safe. Xender then interrupted just before Peter was going to assault Rufus in his werewolf form. She yelled, "Stop!" "Please don't fight." Peter's gaze softened as his werewolf form turned to face her. "Xender, I'm trying to protect you," he replied. Xender gave a nod. Her words were, "I know, Peter,"
"But fighting isn't the answer." The eyes of Rufus narrowed. "You're just going to let him get away with this?" he snapped. Xender gave a headshake. The words "No, Rufus," she said. "I'm going to try to find out what's going on." Xender then turned and left, leaving Peter and Rufus to stare after her.
Xender couldn't help but wonder what was happening as she walked. Peter was a werewolf, but why? What was the reason Rufus was against him? She was going to find out, no matter what.
But Xender was met with a startling scene as she rounded a corner. In front of her, a group of people stood with an unearthly light shining in their eyes. One of them said, "Welcome, Xender," in a voice full of hate. "We've been waiting for you."
When Xender discovered the reality, her heart missed a beat.
She was seriously endangered.
