Elysia felt excited after finally finding her wolf. She kept running through the woods in her wolf form, unable to contain her excitement.
Now, all that is left for her is finding her fated mate!
Even though she was the only one in the woods, she didn't feel lonely. She had waited for this moment for five years, enduring mockery from everyone.
As an Alpha's daughter, everyone expected her to be exceptionally strong with a big wolf at fifteen. But she turned out to be the opposite of what they expected.
She was weak, wolfless, and unable to heal herself. Every time, she had to hide behind her parents.
"Finally," Elysia growled, her gaze fixed on the beautiful red full moon.
She kept digging her nails into trees, wagging her tail, and dancing excitedly. Even though she didn't want to stop this, the urge to break the news to her parents overwhelmed her.
She slowly shifted back to her normal form, her body feeling sore. Without bothering about the scratches on her skin, she walked up to the spot she shifted.
Her white royal gown was now torn, nothing better than a rag.
"It doesn't matter," she muttered before dressing up, most of her part revealed to the glow of the moonlight.
Elysia left for the palace, imagining how her parents and other pack members of hers were going to react to her news.
She knew many thought she was born wolfless.
"Moth…"
Elysia's eyes widened upon arriving at the palace, her voice trailed off as she stared at piles of dead members of her pack.
A lone tear made its way to her face as she watched her mother struggling, blood gushing out of her chest while her father was fighting the man who was supposed to be her betrothed!
According to the agreement between both packs, Elysia was going to get married to King Stefan, and together their packs would become a kingdom—the strongest kingdom in the world.
Why then were he and his pack ambushing theirs?
"Ely," Elysia's mother called out in a trembling voice, snapping her out of thought.
Elysia walked up to her before squatting in front of her, the sound of two swords clashing hard in the air filling her ear, and the metallic smell of blood accumulated in her nostrils.
"Mother… don't talk. I am going to make sure to save you," Elysia cried out, wondering why her mother couldn't heal herself.
"Elysia, you can't save me, neither can I be saved now. This is my fate… okay?" Elysia's mother spoke, her bloody hands cupping Elysia's face. "Just run away from this place. Pretend this never happened and live your life."
"Mother, we are going to save the pack members together. I am going to defeat those betrayers!" She assured, flashing back to how powerful her wolf was.
Her mother smiled faintly before shutting her eyes, her body gone cold.
Confirming her mother was already dead, Elysia balled her fist, burning with rage. She stood up before walking up to King Stefan, who had already defeated her father—her father bleeding nonstop from the stabs.
It was obvious that King Stefan's sword was coated with wolfsbane. But that didn't stop her from wanting to fight him.
She won't stop until she watches him and his men drop dead!
She took her father's sword from the ground before she began, trying to cut King Stefan, who was dodging her move.
"Lady, I would advise you to give up!"
"I won't give up until I cut off your head," her daring voice echoed, moving her sword with all the strength inside her.
Instead of her wolf helping her, she could hear her wolf screaming, wanting her to stop wielding the sword.
Not only was her action affecting her body but also her wolf!
She ignored her wolf's screaming, wielding her sword, she finally cut him, provoking him.
"Elysia, run away! Please run!" Her father's pleading voice weakened her, making her sword fall from her hands. She had never seen her father act this weak.
Alpha Kilero is the strongest man she ever knew. Even in the face of trouble, he never gives up. Why now? Why in front of the man who was supposed to be his soon-to-be son-in-law?
"Stefan, please spare my child. I know I was wrong for betraying our alliance, I am sorry," Alpha Kilero begged, covered in his own pool of blood.
Elysia, who tried to make sense out of her father's words, turned to face him. But before she could ask further questions, he breathed his last.
"Drag her here!" King Stefan, who had already healed himself from the cut, instructed, anger and irritation laced in his voice.
Reminded by her father's words, she couldn't think of anything aside from running. To her, she isn't running because she was weak! She was running away to survive and come back stronger—when she returns, she won't give up until she ruins everything King Stefan cherishes!
Before the men could approach her, she ran away as fast as her legs could carry her, her skin slicked in sweat beads, tears streaming nonstop from her eyes.
Today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. The day she was to celebrate her twentieth birthday and break the news of her found wolf, but it turned out to be the worst day of her life—the day her parents and pack members were ruthlessly murdered by her betrothed.
The man who was supposed to protect them all!
"Catch her! It's either we bring her alive or dead to King Stefan," the lead Gamma instructed, his voice loud and clear in the woods.
"Suzzy, let's fight those people," Elysia muttered, her fangs coming out sharply.
She walked up to the men, ready to take them down as an exchange for what their Alpha king did to her parents and pack members.
"What are you waiting for? Catch this wolfless bitch!"
Elysia, who was burning in fury, slowly changed into her wolf form, ready to fight the men who she didn't know came prepared.
Before she could charge towards them, they blew a substance towards her direction. The moment she inhaled the substance, she felt weak. She lost connection with her wolf, slowly changing back to her human form.
Knowing what she had just gotten herself into, she knew it would only require sheer luck to escape from these men… but why is all this happening to her? What has she done to deserve this bad luck on a day meant to be her happiest day?
