Chapter 13 - quandary

Elara's POV

Dave and I had a terrific dinner date last night, and I'm spinning around in bed because I think that our relationship may have evolved from being legally tied to me genuinely being his girlfriend and fiancée.During our dance last night, Dave said he wished we had met sooner so that perhaps I might have been his true fiancée. I was very stunned when I received the message. He promised to treat me with love, respect, and affection if I became his girlfriend. I wasn't sure if I was ready to fall in love again, but the proposal was very alluring.Every time I remembered my ex and how he had deceived me, my heart still hurt.

I told Dave that I wasn't sure I was ready to love again and wanted to know if I had feelings for him. I should have known better than to say that to him, as he responded, "let's verify" he kissed me deeply with his cold lips gently stroking mine. He sat me on the dining table as our tongues continued to communicate in their own little language. Things got heated up, I could feel fluids travel through my spine. He broke off our kiss, saying, "Your kiss tells me otherwise." He kissed my forehead and whispered, "I will patiently wait for you." But I had absolutely no patience left in me. The man standing in front of me asking me to be his girlfriend seemed surreal, and I had already begun to develop feelings for him. I knew I wasn't sure if I was over my ex or ready for a relationship, but I was certain that I was ready to be loved, and that was all Dave offered. "I'll be your girlfriend," I said shyly.

Every memory from last night flashed through my mind, and I was completely taken aback by my actions. All of the cocktails I'd consumed had clearly gotten to me. I was taken aback; my acts last night were completely out of character for me. How could I ever confront Dave? I pondered. I came up with an idea, so I called the kitchen staff on the landline and requested a favour.Every memory from last night flashed through my mind, and I was completely taken aback by my actions. Dave's POV

I got up in a good mood and informed the office that I would be working from home for a while. I eagerly waited for Elara to get up and eat breakfast so that I could join her, but it was almost noon. I got scared she could be sick and decided to call her using the telephone, which happened to be connected to the entire villa. When I heard her voice on the other end of the queue talking to a kitchen staff member, she requested them to find out where I was. I understood she was too shy to confront me. I left and directed my secretary to notify everyone that I would be absent all day for a business meeting, but II got up in a good mood and informed the office that I would be working from home for a while. I waited about fifteen minutes before returning inside; upon entering, I checked her room to ensure she wasn't there, which was clear. I then went to the dining room, where I was certain she would be, as she had not yet eaten breakfast. As I quietly approached the dinner table, I motioned to the two guards opposite her to be silent, but they instead said, "Welcome back, Mr. Dave." She slowly turned around and looked at me, shocked. I walked up to her and kissed her on the cheek. She had no expression, as if she were surprised, and her teeth were still clinging on to her croissant. She stared at me. I sat across from her and asked the chef to prepare my breakfast as well. How was your night? I enquired, initiating a conversation. It was draining, she stated, adding that she couldn't remember what happened yesterday night. Is that so? I enquired. I remember every aspect of yesterday night. If you want, I can help you recall your memories. She coughed, took a sip of water, and said she was weary and going to bed. Oh well, I hope she doesn't regret her actions from last night.

Elara's POV

His lips touched my cheeks, and my heart skipped two beats. I was caught in a quandary, torn between my growing feelings for Dave and my lack of preparation for a new relationship. I had no idea what to do or expect from the path ahead of me. I realised I needed to meet up with my friends right away. Dave enquired about my night, and I simply needed to think things over, so I excused myself and went to my bedroom.I immediately called Candy's number and scheduled a meeting with the girls, promising to fill them in on all of the details when we met. All I had to do now was figure out how I would avoid Dave until then.
