Chapter 1 - 1

The sun was shining particularly bright today. It might have been an illusion but something was going on.

A young man was lying on a hay pile being transported in a carriage by horse. But the weird thing was that these were not ordinary horses. They had a spiked horn on their head that emitted a dark luster, a stark contrast with their white mane.

The youth was named Henry, an ordinary peasant from the countryside e. His parents were normal people who worked the fields and tended the animals every day. It was not out of place for him to stay for the rest of his life inside the small town, marry, and die without seeing the other tows or people. But since the cultivation assessment was coming close his parents decided to follow the advice of the elderly and allow him to go and see if he could become something more in this life.

Henry was not a particularly bright boy nor was he dull. Ordinary was the most suitable word to describe him. However, er that was only for others.

"This heat is pretty good, I might be able to finish healing my soul before taking the assessment"

Henry was ordinary only to others, his true nature on the other hand was of a demonic cultivator. When he was trying to break through to tier 2 he was ambushed and killed by the imperial authorities Of course, he was no innocent man and killed his fair share of people to get his strength so he could only curse his weakness for being killed.

What they didn't predict, however, was that he used a forbidden technique to infect this boy and make his body slowly accept his soul. The boy's soul was devoured and used as nourishment.

After killing his body the soul was also destroyed and the empire deemed the affair done lay low for 15 years and finally got to the assessment day.

"I will only show average talent and get myself in the sect, then I will see how can I get a special trait"

In this world existed cultivation, so there were more than one weird thing. Traits were also something unique to each person, something you get born with and awaken later in life, by chance or when you first start cultivating.

Cultivators, however, were not common but very rare. Among normal people, 1 in 10,000 may have cultivation talent, and in cultivation families, the chances were not bigger than 10%.

So the parents of this body sent him to the sect to see if he had any talent in cultivation.A few other youths from his town were also coming with him, but they were much more excited or even scared.

Together with him, there were 10 young men and women that were going to the sect assessment. After an hour of traveling by carriage, a large plain could be seen in the distance. Some people were gathered there and waiting for something.

Many youths similar to them were waiting here. After Henry arrived with the rest, he tied the horse to a tree and gave him some food; the knot was pretty loose so that if he did not come back before midnight, the horse would be able to return to his home.

After he finished, Henry looked around the place and could see people of differing looks and with varying attire. He found a spot near a tree and watched everybody conversing and sharing stories.

It did not take too much time, and some more people came here and also began waiting. After 2 more hours, a sound of wind being pierced came through. A huge gust blew from the sky and stirred the earth.A huge floating geometrical shape came down slowly towards an open area.

Henry looked up and whistled.

"It looks like the ships of the Mountain Shattering sect are still as sturdy as before."

The triangle-shaped ship was a flying device created by the senior cultivators to help facilitate easier traveling around the world. It had an aerodynamic form to save energy and to achieve faster speeds. It looked like an elongated pyramid so that it could also carry people and cargo, so it was spread along the world.

The creators decided to make the blueprints public so that traveling would not be a time-consuming thing.

The ship descended and then fully touched the ground.A gate opened, and a few people clothed in red robes descended, followed by a middle-aged man with a robe that featured mountains and seas; it also had the same red color scheme.

"My name is Yasin, and I am here to escort you to the sect talent assessment. Remember that you are to follow my instruction and only mine. If you are caught doing anything suspicious, you will be thrown out of the ship."

The people nodded with serious expressions. Falling out of the ship mid-flight will be fatal in 10 out of 10 cases.

Looking around, Yasin nodded and then explained how the procedure will play out.

First you will be tested. If you are proved to have talents, you will be enrolled in the sect and given basic necessities. If you are tested and confirmed to have no aptitude, you will be returned home with the same ship at the same location you were taken from.

Everybody nodded, and then Yasin proceeded to head back into the ship. The others followed orderly in pairs of two and found themselves a seat. The interior looked similar to a normal house.Just that it had multiple tables with four seats each.Looking around, there were around 30 tables, and this batch had only around 60 people, so there wasn't any worry about space.

Henry found himself an empty table and sat down. He began looking around at the walls and the floor.Others might ignore the small engravings and the like, but he would immediately notice them. The whole ship was covered in various formations, from heating and cooling to air purifiers and self-cleaners.

He also used to travel in these ships before; the core room would have even more formations, and there would even be an assigned tier 2 cultivator there to drive the ship. Unless there were a tier 2 cultivator, one could not drive the ship. Only their QI would be able to steer and manage the numerous formations around the ship.

One had to know that at tier 1 you are not able to use QI.So unless a higher-level cultivator takes charge, this ship will not move.
