Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni gazed at the young man before him and asked in a low, resonant tone, "Are you mentally prepared to hear the verdict of the Central 46?"
As he spoke, Yamamoto's eyes sharpened with an intensity that seemed to pierce through Aaron's soul. His voice, steady yet imposing, carried a weight that made the air itself feel oppressive. The immense spiritual pressure emanating from him caused a fleeting tremor in Aaron's heart. However, he quickly composed himself and responded calmly, "Captain, I am ready."
Inwardly, Aaron marveled at the sheer presence of the Captain-Commander, a warrior who had endured countless battles. The power exuding from Yamamoto was far beyond anything a normal Shinigami could hope to withstand.
Yamamoto observed Aaron for a moment, then gave a faint nod and said, "Very well."
Nearby, Ōetsu Nimaiya, who had been reclining casually, now turned his attention to the conversation. His usual carefree demeanor shifted as he chimed in, "Hey, Yamamoto! While I know you can't brush this under the rug, it wasn't intentional. Testing him like this with such heavy-handed measures? You and the Central 46 are two peas in a pod—rigid and inflexible. Tch!"
Though his tone was jesting, Aaron couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for Nimaiya's support. In the year he had known the eccentric member of the Royal Guard, the man had proven time and again that he genuinely had Aaron's back.
Yamamoto, unperturbed by Nimaiya's remarks, cleared his throat. Turning his gaze back to Aaron, he continued, "The verdict from Central 46 is as follows: you are to be sent to Hueco Mundo as part of the Hueco Mundo Death Squad. Your term of service will be 500 years."
The announcement sent a ripple through the room. While Nimaiya had clearly been informed of the decision earlier—his frustration upon Aaron's arrival was now evident—the weight of hearing it spoken aloud by Yamamoto only deepened his scowl.
Aaron's expression briefly faltered as he processed the words, his brow furrowing for a moment before his calm facade returned. Though unexpected, the decision began to make sense. He recalled reading in the archives of the Shin'ō Academy about the Hueco Mundo Death Squad, a unit composed of Shinigami who had committed serious offenses. Those sent to Hueco Mundo were essentially condemned to a near-suicidal mission, battling Hollows in an unforgiving realm with little hope of survival. It was often referred to as the "Death Squad."
For most, this punishment was worse than execution. But for Aaron, equipped with the abilities granted by his mysterious "box system," Hueco Mundo was nothing short of a treasure trove. The prospect of endless battles meant countless opportunities to grow stronger.
Silently, he almost felt gratitude toward the Central 46. In their attempt to punish him, they had unwittingly paved the way for his development.
Yamamoto, observing Aaron closely, was surprised by the young man's lack of protest. Instead of fear or defiance, there was only quiet acceptance. "Do you have no objections to the ruling?" Yamamoto asked, his tone betraying a hint of curiosity. "If you wish, I can draft a report to relay your concerns to Central 46."
Aaron smiled faintly. "Captain, I accept the decision. I have no objections."
Nimaiya's eyes widened in disbelief. "What?! Are you serious? This is insane!" He turned to Yamamoto, his voice rising. "You can't possibly let this slide, Yamamoto! Five hundred years in Hueco Mundo isn't a punishment—it's a death sentence! You know what that place is like. Are you truly okay with this?"
Yamamoto remained composed, gazing out the window as Nimaiya vented his frustration. When the outburst subsided, Yamamoto finally spoke, his tone measured. "Nimaiya, this ruling is far from ideal. However, it is not without merit. His abilities, while extraordinary, are also unprecedented. Sending him to Hueco Mundo will test not only his strength but also his loyalty and resolve. If he can survive and grow through this ordeal, it will serve as proof of his commitment to the Gotei 13."
Nimaiya slumped back into his seat, his earlier fire now replaced with reluctant resignation. "I still think it's reckless," he muttered. "You're gambling with his life, Yamamoto."
Yamamoto did not respond, choosing instead to continue gazing out the window.
