I gasped as I saw what was ahead.

A frozen grin and glazed eyes looking straight at me through the mist.

As the creature came near me, I finally saw it clearly and I would never forget what I saw.

A human face that seemed to have been melded on the back of a black carapace slowly crawling on uneven and misshaped limbs.

Each time it dragged its body a little closer to mine, some parts of it would be dragged on the ground as it seemed to struggle with its own awkward body, struggling to move.

I hurriedly covered my mouth so it wouldn't hear me although I don't know how it could seeing as it didn't even have any ears. Or at least, none that I could see but I wasn't about to take my chances.

I still wanted to live.

As it drew closer and closer, I wondered why I ever decided to come onto this damned vacation.
