Chapter 12 - System function

All of this was unknown to Eden, as he was busy studying the functions of the system that had been unlocked due to something he hadn't intended to do.

"System, are you sure you didn't make a mistake? Even if that crazy lich doesn't show up and cause a catastrophe of undead, I'm still going to destroy many kingdoms and empires and kill countless people."

The reason for his statement was that Eden would be collecting the fragments of the Wish Chalice, and he was certain that everyone in this world would become his enemy, even the Lords. So, Eden planned to strike first. Many of the fragments were in the possession of powerful individuals, such as a noble family member who owned something Eden needed. Therefore, he was ready to destroy that family. Even though his strength wasn't great, it didn't mean he lacked intelligence or information.

[Administrator, this system does not care whether the Administrator kills or protects. It is only concerned with the changes the Administrator will bring and assisting in their growth.]

Eden smiled faintly.

"Don't worry, I know everything. I hold the pen in my hand and write the scenario I deem suitable."

His smile carried a deeper meaning, and his sky-blue eyes gleamed sharply, as if they knew everything happening in this world. He turned his attention back to the system and began exploring its functions.

[Inventory: One hundred rooms, each 10×10 in size. You can store anything except living creatures. The size and weight of each item are calculated. (More rooms can be unlocked using points.)]

[Quests: The system will issue quests at any time or place. Each quest is an opportunity for growth and rewards. But beware of death. The Administrator also has the right to reject quests issued by the system. (It is advised to increase your authority level quickly if you wish to reject quests.)]

"System, how do I earn points? And are points only for unlocking more inventory rooms?"

[In response to the Administrator: Points can be earned by killing monsters and humans. Points can be used to unlock more rooms, as well as pay for system assistance. There are also other functions that require points, but they are currently locked.]

Eden pondered for a moment before noticing something.

"System, what do you mean by paying for system assistance?"

[Yes, the Administrator can request information beyond their current level. They can also request assistance in combat automation. There are various other services available for a cost.]

Eden was shocked. He hadn't expected the system to have so many functions. Frankly, this was only the second time he had opened the system screen, and he had almost forgotten about its existence until it appeared now. He muttered quietly:

"Status."

"System, I have a question I want answered."

[What is your question, Administrator?]

"What do you mean by profession?"

This question had been on his mind. Not because he was unfamiliar with the concept of a profession but because, in this world, the concept didn't exist.

In this world, during the Mana Awakening Ceremony, people were divided into two categories: knights and mages. While knights didn't necessarily mean sword users, they included spear wielders, archers, and shield bearers. All weapon users were classified as knights.

As for mages, they could be elemental mages, summoners, or rare elemental mages, who were naturally scarce.

The way to distinguish between knights and mages during the ceremony was simple: knights awakened a star in their hearts to convert mana into an aura, while mages awakened a ring in their hearts to channel mana into magic power.

Their training journey then depended on each individual's level of talent.

Frankly, Eden believed knights were easier to train. The reason was simple: they were trained physically from childhood, and when they awakened the knight's star, they had a stronger foundation than mages.

There were rare cases where both a knight's star and a mage's ring were awakened simultaneously, though this happened at a one-in-a-million rate.

However, that didn't mean there were no other ways to achieve dual awakening. For instance, consuming a dragon's heart might do it. But that was only if you were tired of life—unless the dragon's heart was lying discarded in the street, or you were the hero of this world, or the emperor's son who had a dragon slain for you. Just remember, the wrath of the dragons will eventually knock on your door.
