Diana's POV
The cowardly man was about to start confessing when I saw a cold blade pierced through his neck. He wanted to talk, but nothing came out of his mouth, except for thick blood.
"Snitches get stitches!" One of the burly men said as he pulled out a dagger from the coward's neck and wiped it with the man's cloth.
I glared at the murderous man and watched him put back the dagger into its sheath.
Diana, you must act tough! These people are ruthless.
I watched the lifeless body of the cowardly man hit the cold floor. But I stood my ground and pointed the magic staff at the remaining assassins who had somehow regained their confidence.
I don't know if it's out of desperation or madness… or both. The assassins took up fighting stance, ready to do anything in order to snatch the staff from me.
One of the assassins took out a glove inlaid with a yellow gem from his bag. He wore it on his left hand and starts to speak in tongues, while stretching his arms towards my staff.
The staff started vibrating in my hand, struggling to break free from from my hold. I held on tight with both hands, but the staff broke free from my hands and started hovering in mid air.
The glove wielding man smiled, and made a grabbing motion towards the staff "I'll borrow this staff for now, my priestess."
The staff was now ten inches away from his outstretched hand. I struggled to grab hold of it and I succeeded.
Too much of watching magic film made me slammed the staff on the ground, maybe a miracle would happen.
Surprisingly, the earth vibrated immediately the staff made contact with the ground; there was an earthquake.
The building rumbled, and collapsed on us.
"Cough! Cough!"
I crawled out of the rubble, and tried to run out of the house before the assassins could get out from under the piles of rubble. But a bloodied hand grab hold of my leg and tried to fall me down.
I held my staff firmly, and used the jeweled head to hit him hard on the head.
"Die, you bastard!"
Lightning flashed, and what was left of the last assassin was the ashes admist the rubbles.
Immediately after killing the last man, I became exhausted. It felt as if a large amount of energy was stripped away from my body.
The staff broke free from my hand, and started compressing until it was the size of a straw.
The staff then rushed into my body and disappeared. My weak body fell limply on the floor and dizziness washed over me.
immediately after I hit the ground, I heard footsteps.
I struggled to open my bleary eyes, and I saw an effeminate man, who looked neither man nor woman walked up to me.
He bent down, and unhurriedly put a metal cuff on my left wrist. He inserted a key into the cuff and tightened it on my wrist.
"Sleep tight my priestess" he whispered, as he caressed my bloodied face.
"Wow! I thought we would have to go through a bloody battle in order get. Who could have thought that… we're lucky… pack her up, let's leave this place before others… " I heard the man speak, but my brain couldn't process everything he said as I tried to keep my consciousness awake.
…
I opened my eyes with grey difficulty as a gentle wind caressed my face. The silver moon smiled and the sparkling stars returned brightness into my eyes.
I looked around, and found myself in the middle of a big forest.
A great deal of pain rushed towards my brain as I struggled to stand up. It felt as if all the bones in my body were broken and my muscles had lost their strength.
A purgent smell of blood rushed into my notrils as I saw corpses littered on the ground. The strange thing about those corpses is that they weren't human.
Five humanoid monsters with wolf heads and furry bodies were lying in a pool of blood. The other corpses were that of some pale humans that looked more like vampire, with their long fangs and pale faces.
I don't know how or why I found myself on this battlefield of some mythical creatures, but I must leave this place.
As I was about to leave, I saw a shiny silver key lying beside one of the wolf monsters on the ground; it was the key to the cuff on my wrist.
I crawled towards it and stretched out my hand to pick it up, but a hairy hand grabbed my hand. And the werewolf's eyes flashed open.
A pair of silver eyes stared coldly at me. It uttered some weird words before closing it's eyes then into covered in blinding silver light and transformed into the effeminate man who kidnapped me.
"Cough! My priestess, where do you think you're going?" The effeminate man coughed out a mouthful of blood before crawling to my side while still holding my hand like an iron clamp.
He reached out his hand and took the key. He spoke some words of incantation and drew
Open a small portal, the size of an ostrich egg. He tried to push me inside, but he was too weak to do that.
My heart cracked as I saw him threw the key into the portal instead and the portal disappeared.
"Run! Priestess run! The blood suckers… don't let them… get the staff." The effeminate man shouted with his last strength, before closing his eyes for the last time.
Which side are you on exactly?
First, you kidnapped me and brought me to the middle of nowhere, then you're now telling me to run?
I removed a silver dagger from a corpses body and used it to cut off a branch, that was probably felled during the battle.
I carved the branch into a suitable walking stick. It's time to explore the unknown forest.
