At that moment, the door to the king's study was opened as a man with striking similar features to the king walked in.
"What is an almighty king like you doing here so back from your retreat, I'd expected you to take 5 months" the man said as he walks past Elara not acknowledging her presence.
"Elara this is my brother"king Eldric said as he saw the confused look Elara gave the man as he arrived.
"Older brother," the man interrupted as he corrected the king, finally acknowledging Elara's presence.
"Is this a new addition to the palace maids, you've lost quite a lot of workers you know, well she is a fine one I might add"the man says as he walks closer to Elara giving her a hand for a handshake. "My name's Elvis, older brother to the ruling king here Eldric."
He says as he turns his head in the direction facing his brother with his hand still in the direction of Elara waiting for a handshake.
(I already don't like this man) Elara thought
Elara took his hand accepting his handshake only out of respect for the king, but deep inside she felt the need to want to bring him down from his baseless accusations.
"She's even too sophisticated to be a maid by the looks of it, but then again, the things we do for money, am I right?" Elvis released his hand from Elara's as he examined her head to toe as he asked her.
Elara was even more angry at his words as she thought to herself (you know what I really want to kill a man).
Elara didn't acknowledge his joke whatsoever which had Elvis change his tone from a joking one to stern yet furious one.
*A maid dress would seem fitting for your position, don't you think?" Elvis asks again, glaring at Elara. "I mean it suits your kind"
He said as he was referring to her dark yet caramel skin tone and her curly hair.
"Excuse me?" Elara said finally snapping, she didn't want to speak out of respect but this was getting out of hand, what did she do to just take insults from someone she never met.
"So you assume anyone related to my kind just picks up any work they can get their hands on, then if it seems fit, I believe anyone of your kind could just take you as a commoner than a king's relative" Elara said as she glared at Elvis.
"What are you talking about?" Elvis said laughing as he raised both his hands in the air. "Look at me I'm swimming in riches, how would you assume I'm just a meesely commoner. I'm quite offended if I may add" Elvis says as he expression changed from a laughing one to a pissed one.
"Exactly my point for you to just point out assume anything on someone you haven't met or talked to." Elara says as she refused to acknowledge his ugly behavior even if he was angry.
"Why you little…."
"Enough," the king finally spoke as he saw their conversation was getting out of hand.
"She is not a maid, and I would like it if you could stop making assumptions about people like that" Eldric said, stopping them before Elvis would do anything stupid.
"She is the palace's new royal doctor if you must know" he said as he continued signing the paperwork.
"Doctor?, How did someone like you become a doctor and even worse you are a woman, who thought it was a good idea to make people like those doctors." Elvis says as he faces his direction back to Elara.
"Elvis, mind your manners and how you speak, that is an order"eldric yelled to his brother not as his brother but as the king.
"You never change, do you" Eldric turned his gaze from his brother to Elara as he spoke. "Elara you may go before it's gets dark, have Jace escort you with the carriage"
"Yes your highness" Elara says as she excused herself leaving the king's study.
Elara was still very angry as she left the study, she felt like beating the crap out of the king's brother. She got out and saw the maid waiting for her at the door outside.
"I see you've met the king's brother" the maid said as the saw the look on Elara face filled with rage.
"He is so unruly, he just makes assumptions out of anybody" Elara say as she . "People say that's why he was never fit to be king"the maid said whispering her words to elara
"Gosh, I have a headache"
Elara placed her hand on her forehead as she realized the pain was back.
"Do you need to sit down for a moment?" The maid ask as she lends Elara a help hand.
"No I'm fine, I just need to go home and rest. Could you tell Jace to prepare the carriage, the king said I could use it to get home." Elara says still throbbing from the pain.
"Of course, I will do that now, let's just get you to the carriage, then I can call him" the maid said as she accompanied Elara outside.
Once they've reached the entrance doors of the palace, Rose spotted them as they were about to go out.
"Elara, Elara…" the queen yelled which caugth their attention.
"Elara are you alright, you seem pale. Is everything ok" the queen say as she reached Elara placing one hand on her forehead and the other on her shoulder.
" I'm fine your highness, im just having a slight headache, I was just heading out so I can get home and maybe get some rest.
"Oh then let me excort you to the carriage then, it's been long since I had some company from you" Rose said as she hooked her arm with Elara.
"I'll go find Jace then your highness"the maid says as she begins departing.
"Wait, sorry before you go, what is your name? I didn't get it" Elara said as the maid turned around and spoke.
"Hannah " she say witha smile.
Elara nodded at her response as she left to find Jace.
"I hope you've not forgotten about me, you seem to be making some new friends in the palace already" rose said sulking her face as slwe made our way down the down the stone stair leading to the carriage.
"Don't worry your highness, you're still my friend, the very first one I made in the palace"
"I told you to call me Rose when we're alone, there is no need for the formalities".
"If you say so ...Rose" Elara replied as they reached the carriage.
Rose was internally jumping with joy as Elara called her by her name.
"That's more I like it" rose said hugging Elara hand which was still hooked to hers
