Four times a day, the group in the station depot used the station-frequency hand-held radio to try to call one of the groups in the neighbourhood that could possibly help them.
This was not very positive. After all, this small hand-held radio could be heard either by another hand-held radio or by another radio of the same type.
That's why it would be very difficult for an outsider to pick up this frequency and hear it if they used a radio.
After all, anybody with a handheld radio could hear anything when they were in a certain area, with the frequencies travelling between the two radios, if the handheld radio was switched on.
Nevertheless, the fact that they needed help and the possibility of a greater danger of death approaching them every day made them want to try even harder.
This, of course, brought the group's not-so-favourable plan into play.
