Chereads / GALE'S CONVERGENCE / Chapter 20 - RETURN AND REVELATION

Chapter 20 - RETURN AND REVELATION

The training room in the Elemental Academy of Elementis buzzed with energy. New elites were scattered across the expansive ground, practicing their elemental abilities. The air crackled with magic as fire flickered, water splashed, and earth rumbled. In one corner, the newly appointed Archons gathered, watching their fellow trainees with a mix of pride and camaraderie.

As they stretched and prepared for their next mission, Ray leaned against the wall, his brow furrowed. "Can you believe it? Back-to-back missions since becoming Archons. I thought we'd get a breather!"

Brooks nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "I know! It feels like we barely have time to catch our breath. But… it's what we signed up for, right?"

Ash chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah, but I didn't think it would be this intense! Every time I think we're done, another mission pops up!"

Reed, sitting cross-legged on the floor, looked up with a grin. "At least we're getting stronger. Just look at us!"

Stone, always the serious one, crossed his arms. "Strength is good, but we need to focus. Each mission feels like it's pushing us closer to the edge."

"True," Ray agreed. "But we're a team, and that's what matters most."

Suddenly, a familiar gust of wind swept through the room, catching their attention. The atmosphere shifted, and a collective sense of anticipation filled the air. Gale was back.

Gale stepped into the training room, a broad smile on his face. The moment felt surreal. The academy was alive with laughter and shouts of training elites, just as he remembered. It was as if no time had passed at all.

"Gale!" Brooks shouted, his face lighting up. "You're back!"

"Good to see you all!" Gale replied, his heart swelling with joy. He could feel the camaraderie wrapping around him like a warm blanket.

As they approached, Gale couldn't help but notice the changes in them. They were stronger, more confident. "You all look like true Archons now!"

Ash tilted his head, a hint of pride in his voice. "You look different too! Stronger, even."

"Maybe you're just seeing things," Gale teased, raising an eyebrow. "Do you still think I'm lucky?"

Ash's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and he hesitated "Well, um..."

Gale laughed, the tension breaking. "Just kidding! It's good to be home."

Reed jumped in, grinning. "We've missed you, Gale! It hasn't been the same without you around."

"Yeah, and it's not just the missions. It's having you here, encouraging us!" Brooks added, his excitement infectious.

Gale responded with a laughter "You all seem to be doing just fine though! What about Master Keldor? How's he been?"

Ray nodded solemnly, his expression turning serious. "He's in a meeting right now. His training regimen has been intense, but we understand it's for our benefit. He believes in our potential."

"Good to hear," Gale replied, feeling a mix of pride and concern for his friends. "I know you all can handle anything!"

With spirits high, they exchanged stories and laughter, filling the room with warmth. But Gale knew it was time to head to the meeting with Eldrin and Keldor. The weight of his journey pressed on him, and he needed to share what he had learned.

As the laughter faded, Gale turned toward the main hall, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside him. He was eager to see Master Keldor and Eldrin, knowing they would be waiting for him.

Gale entered the spacious room, where Master Keldor sat at the head of the table, flanked by Sylas and Orin. Eldrin was seated nearby, his expression a mix of excitement and lingering pain from his previous battle against Shade.

"Gale!" Keldor exclaimed, his eyes brightening with joy. "We were expecting you!"

"Master Keldor, it's good to be back," Gale replied, his smile genuine. He felt a wave of comfort seeing familiar faces.

Orin leaned forward, concern etched on his brow. "The orb sensed your energy when you entered Elementis. It seems your connection has deepened."

Gale nodded. "I've refined my mastery of Aeron. But there's much more to discuss."

Eldrin's excitement bubbled over despite his injuries. "I'm thrilled to see you, Gale! You've grown so much."

"Thank you, Master Eldrin. It feels like coming home," Gale said, his heart warming at the sight of his former mentor and grandfather

Sylas then looked at Gale, concern etched on his face. "Where's your trainer, Theron?"

"Not here," Gale replied, steeling himself. "But I need all the Archons present. It's important."

Keldor exchanged glances with Eldrin, then nodded. "Sylas, gather everyone. It seems we have much to discuss."

Sylas simply nodded, his expression focused. "Understood!"

As the room filled with the other Archons, Gale felt a swell of pride. He caught sight of his friends among the new ranks, and a smile broke across his face. "You all must have breezed through the Archon test!" he teased, his eyes sparkling.

Ray smirked. "Even if it's not official for you, there's no doubt you've reached; probably even surpassed Archon level!"

"Let's just hope I can keep up with you all," Gale joked, lightening the mood further.

Once everyone was gathered and the initial excitement settled, Gale took a deep breath, his expression shifting to one of seriousness. "First, we need to talk about what happened in Eldoria and Theron."

As he recounted his journey, his voice grew heavier with each word.

Gale paused after a while, and then continued "Shade manipulated him from the start. He was lost, and fell into Shade's trap."

The room fell silent, tension thick in the air. Callista's brow furrowed. "Theron? But he was one of us. How could he betray us?"

"He was manipulated," Gale replied, his tone firm. "Shade took advantage of his heartbreak over Aeris to turn him against us."

Ivara shook her head, disbelief in her eyes. "No... Theron wouldn't do that!"

"He did," Gale insisted. "Shade's plan was to use him to find the remaining fragments in Eldoria—pieces Shade left behind to engulf that realm."

Zyra clenched her fists, anger rising. "So using Theron was just part of Shade's scheme?"

Gale nodded. "After Aeris almost defeated Shade, he was severely weakened and retreated to recuperate. He focused on smaller realms, waiting for the right moment. When Aeris left, he set his plan in motion. Theron's heartbreak made him an easy target. He had Theron find the pieces and was patient, knowing it would be a slow process."

Keldor leaned forward, concern etched on his face. "When Shade attacked our realm, was that also part of his scheme?"

"Once Shade learned about my return to Elementis—no, Aeron's return—he acted quickly," Gale explained. "That's why he attacked so suddenly. He felt threatened by Aeron's presence. Even though Master Eldrin was injured, he managed to exhaust Shade's energy during their fight, forcing him to retreat once again."

Eldrin nodded, pride and worry in his eyes. "And now, Shade has been recuperating, gathering his strength. That's why he hasn't made any moves until now, isn't it?"

Gale's expression darkened. "Exactly. With Theron defeated, Shade may not even need him anymore to conquer the realms he's building forces against."

The gravity of the situation hung heavy in the room. Zyra's voice trembled as she asked, "So using Theron was just plan A?"

"Yes," Gale confirmed. "And Shade is almost ready to strike."

Eldrin's eyes widened. "If you know about Shade and Aeris, then that means.."

Gale interrupted, his heart racing. "Yes, I know you're my grandfather."

Gasps filled the room, and Eldrin's shock was palpable. He paused, his expression a mix of sorrow and resolve. "I wanted to protect you, Gale. I never wanted this secret to come out. I thought that Aeron might skip a generation because the last time it manifested was in my mother. But it's a heritage that passed to Aeris, and now it has found its way to you, even though she left us."

He looked down, pain etched on his face. "The only person I ever told this to was Lorian."

Gale felt the weight of the revelation, understanding the burden Eldrin had carried. "I get it, but we have to focus on what's coming. Shade's plans are more dangerous than we imagined."

Keldor, looking deeply troubled, leaned forward. "Tell us more about Shade's forces. What are we truly up against?"

Gale took a deep breath before speaking. "Shade's forces are more formidable than we ever imagined. He's managed to share his dark power with allies—five warriors who now possess strength almost on par with his own."

The room fell silent, everyone digesting the gravity of Gale's words. Gale continued, "Theron was meant to be one of these dark champions, but his natural air abilities fought against the darkness that Shade tried to infuse in him. If not for that struggle, Theron would have been one of the most formidable opponents we'd ever face. He did manage to pull it off to some extent, using both air and dark abilities in our fight. But he was far from completion, unlike the champions Shade has now at his disposal."

Ray frowned, confusion evident on his face. "How could Shade do this? How could he make such powerful allies?"

"It's about the elements," Gale explained. "You all know the primary elements: air, water, fire, earth, nature, light, and darkness. Each of these elements has its strengths and potential for fusion. For example, air and water can work together harmoniously. But elements like light and darkness are inherently opposed, yet they hold immense power on their own."

He paused, gathering his thoughts. "Air and darkness, however, are extremely rare. Ideally, they should work together without issues, but their rarity makes it nearly impossible to achieve a balance. Theron struggled with both abilities, yet he managed to use them during our fight."

Stone, always the thinker, spoke up. "So, Shade's plan was to find individuals with compatible strong elemental abilities and corrupt them with darkness?"

"Exactly," Gale confirmed. "Shade conquered realms and took five strong warriors with dark elemental abilities, manipulating them into his service. These dark champions now form a core part of his forces, making them almost as strong as Shade himself."

Keldor's concern deepened. "And you say there are five of these dark champions?"

"Yes," Gale said. "Their abilities are terrifying. One of them, for instance, has mastery over shadow stealth and dark agility. He can phase through solid objects and move with lightning speed. In close combat, he's deadly, wielding shadow blades with lethal precision. I encountered him myself."

The room was heavy with the weight of this new information. Sylas then broke the silence. "So, Theron's failure to adapt was a blessing in disguise. But now we face these dark champions, and they're a force to be reckoned with."

"Yes," Gale agreed. "Shade has been recuperating all this time, and he's almost ready. His plan is to strike once he is fully recovered, with these dark champions by his side. And now that Theron is defeated, he may not need him anymore to conquer the realms."

Orin, skeptical, raised a point. "How did we not detect the darkness in Theron?"

Gale sighed. "He was just that good. Theron almost fooled me too, but he slipped up and gave himself away. His mastery over his dark powers was formidable, but as I said, he was not yet complete."

Keldor stood, his expression resolute. "Then we must act swiftly. We can't allow Shade to regain his full strength. If we wait, his forces will only grow stronger, and we risk everything."

Gale nodded. "We have to take the fight to him. Divide his forces and handle them one by one. It's our best chance."

The Archons exchanged glances, the gravity of the situation sinking in.

Thorn, ever the pragmatist, then asked Gale, "And how exactly do you suggest we take the fight to him?"

"I know the coordinates from Theron's memories," Gale replied. "We can use the orb to transport ourselves directly to Shade's stronghold."

Keldor sighed, deeply troubled. "This is a risky plan, but it might be our only option if we want to protect the realm."

There were murmurs of agreement and dissent, but Keldor raised his hand. "We have no choice. We must prepare and take the fight to Shade."

As they began formulating their strategy, Gale couldn't help but feel a surge of hope. They had faced impossible odds before, and with the combined strength of the Archons, they might just stand a chance. The room buzzed with determination as they planned their next move, ready to confront the darkness head-on.

As the Archons geared up for the imminent battle, Eldrin approached Gale, who was deep in thought, adjusting his gear. The elder placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Grand dad," Gale began, his voice steady but tinged with curiosity. "Why didn't you tell me about our connection sooner?"

Eldrin sighed deeply, his gaze softening. "I wanted to protect you from our family's legacy, from the burdens and battles that have haunted us for generations. I didn't want you to be part of our squabble. I always believed I could suffice, that my strength and experience would be enough."

Gale nodded, understanding the weight of his grandfather's words. "I understand. But the orb chose differently. It believed I was the one to put an end to Aeris's story."

Eldrin smiled sadly. "Yes, it did. And I see now that the orb was right. You are destined for greater things than I ever was. I'm sorry for keeping the secret from you."

Gale placed his hand on Eldrin's, a gesture of forgiveness. "I don't hold it against you. Let's focus on what needs to be done."

Just then, Keldor called out, indicating that they were ready to move. Gale turned to embrace his grandfather, sharing a moment of silent strength before facing the inevitable battle.

Epilogue

Keldor stood assembled with the Archons, the weight of their mission palpable in the air. Gale stood at the forefront, heart racing with a mix of excitement and determination. The portal shimmered behind them, dark energy swirling ominously, but none of the Archons flinched.

"This is our moment," Keldor declared, his voice steady. "Follow the plan precisely, and we stand a chance. We face the darkness head-on."

He turned to Sylas and Orin, who stood ready. "While we are gone, the realm is in your hands. Protect it at all costs."

Sylas nodded firmly. "We will ensure its safety, Master Keldor."

Keldor then looked at Eldrin, a silent acknowledgment passing between them. Eldrin spoke softly, "Be safe, Keldor."

Keldor responded with determination, "I will protect everyone."

Gale stepped forward, touching the orb to activate the portal with Theron's coordinates. The dark aura intensified, but the Archons remained resolute.

Keldor's form began to shift, encasing him in gleaming metal armor, his abilities manifesting in a display of strength and courage. "Archons, with me! Let us show Shade what we're made of!"

As he led the charge into the darkness, the other Archons followed, their hearts united in purpose.

Eldrin watched them disappear into the portal, his thoughts focused on the safety of his grandson and the realm.
