Darkness had surrounded him for such a long time now, and he couldn't remember anything. Who was he? Where was this? What had happened to him?
All he knew was that he was a Him. All he knew were concepts, what a human was, how to breathe, eat, drink, and much more.
But memories? He had no idea who he was, what even his name was.
Not only that, he also couldn't feel his body in the slightest, to the point where he sometimes thought he might not have one, to begin with.
It was an interesting feeling, all he had left was his mind. He could think and think and think again, and nothing would happen.
This had been the case for a long time now, at least he enjoyed believing so. Because, in reality, he had no idea how long it had been since he had been like this.
It could have been a day, two, a week, a month, a year, or years, he simply had no idea about it.
Time passed, or it didn't, he couldn't tell anymore, and just like always, he started questioning everything. Where was he? Who did this to him? Was he already dead and this was his torture?
At this moment, he would give everything to feel pain, to feel anything. He hated this kind of torture, he couldn't feel his body, and he couldn't feel a single thing. All he had were his thoughts.
All alone, floating in the darkness for eternity.
A life of torture.
Was this the reason he couldn't remember a single thing from before? Because he had gone insane? Was he insane, or sane? He couldn't tell.
Sigh!
'Huh? Wait... No! That can't be true, right?' He questioned himself as he tried it again. Sigh!
He felt the air leave his mouth... Mouth?
He had one? What was happening? Suddenly, and out of nowhere, he started feeling air again. A mouth, a nose, ears... His senses were returning bit by bit, and he couldn't believe it.
'Is this it? Have I gone completely mad finally? Because... It can't be, right? How could this be the case? But I do... I feel a hand... A leg, toes, fingers... A chest... I even feel my eyes, they're still closed though.'
He felt his body once more, he was alive. He could breathe like any other normal human, he had arms, legs, a torso, and ears, he could even feel a beard.
'I'm alive still?' No matter how he tried, it was simply too hard to believe in that fact.
It had felt like hundreds of years had passed in that state of Darkness, and now, out of nowhere and with no warnings, he felt a body, he felt alive.
That couldn't be, it must be his mind playing tricks on him. 'Hahaha! Is this the next level of torture waiting for me? False hope? The worst kind of torture? Hahaha! I knew it, I have gone completely mad!'
At that moment, another thought appeared inside his head, 'All I need to do is open my eyes... And then I can confirm if it's true or not... But... I'm scared.'
He hesitated, feeling afraid to open them. 'What if it's... Just false hope? Then what? I don't want to face that reality... If I stay like this, I can at least feel my body, but if I open my eyes and all of this was a trick... I don't know how I'll react.'
'Will I even react? I don't know... I... I need to open my eyes and find out the truth for myself... I have to! I can't stay like this, I just can't... I'll go crazy if I do!'
He made sure to take another deep breath, 'Alright, here goes!' And with that, he opened his eyes for the first time in a while.
The light slowly came back to him, and bit by bit, he started making out his surroundings. 'Is this... A frozen capsule? Was I frozen?' He wondered in confusion.
He had heard of the concept, but as far as he knew and remembered, it was just a concept people used in stories. The world he remembered didn't have such technology, it wasn't possible to freeze people for any type of period.
They would simply die.
And yet, wasn't he proof enough that they could? He was frozen for who knows how long, but he woke up in the end.
'I don't know, for now, I just wanna step out of this container, I hate it! I wanna stretch myself, I wanna move!' He made up his mind and went outside the white capsule.
He still didn't investigate his surroundings, the place was dark and he was busy with something else at the moment.
'Hahaha! I can move just fine! I'm a little hungry, but honestly, that's all I feel at the moment... Otherwise, I'm in great shape! I'm even wearing clothes and all.'
At the moment, he wore a white shirt and black pants. He couldn't see his facial features, but he knew that his hair was shoulder-length, and he had a long beard as well.
After taking a deep breath, he nodded to himself and walked closer to the container.
The room or place he was inside was completely dark, the only source of light and the reason he could see anything in hear was the thin blue light the capsule gave off.
'Well, I guess let's start with the container first... Maybe it... Yup, there it is! So, my name is Theodore Rosnar, is it now?'
'I don't remember anything about it, so as far as I'm concerned, this is who I am from now on... Until I remember if this is actually my name or not that is.'
He then sighed in disbelief as he read a date, 'I've been frozen for... 200 years.'
A smile appeared on his face in reaction, and he chuckled lightly, 'Haha! 200 years... 200 Freaking years... I... Why? What happened to the world during all this while?'
'Why did I get freed only now? And who took me out? I can't see or feel anyone close by. Did they program the capsule to only release me 200 years after?'
Questions started appearing inside his thoughts one after the other, with no answers in sight. Theodore shook his head in response, 'I can't lose control, I have to calm down a little.'
'Alright... I... I've been here for 200 years, and I can't remember a single thing about myself. I'm in good shape, but a little hungry. As far as I can tell, I'm inside some kind of office, and there is a capsule beside me... There is no one here, so I can explore at my leisure.'
Theodore breathed a sigh of relief and felt calm again after organizing his thoughts slowly. 'Alright then, let's continue inspecting the container first.'
'After I'm done, we'll move on to what's next inside this place.'
