Chapter 7

Caged by Their Fury

Nora~

Grey dragged me through the halls, his grip firm but not harsh, until we stopped at a room I had never seen before. Without a word, he shoved me down onto the couch and stood in front of me, his stance rigid, like a guard on duty.

"Okay, what the hell is this?" I snapped, glaring up at him.

Grey didn't respond. He just stared at me with his usual unflinching expression, his silence grating on my nerves.

"I asked you a question, Grey. You do know I'm your Luna, right? Shouldn't you be treating me with a little more respect?"

His gaze flicked to me for a brief second before he finally spoke. "It's the Alphas' orders. You're not allowed to leave this room."

I laughed bitterly, leaning back against the couch. "Of course it's their orders," I muttered, rolling my eyes. "So now I'm a prisoner in my own pack. How fitting."

Lara stirred in my mind, her growl faint but steady. "I can get us out of here," she offered, her tone sharp.

"No, Lara," I snapped back at her. "You've already done enough. You're the reason we're in this mess."

Her growl deepened, but before she could respond, the door burst open, and Killian and Keal walked in. Their faces were masks of cold fury, and the air in the room immediately grew heavier.

"Leave," Keal said to Grey, his voice low and commanding. Without hesitation, Grey bowed slightly and exited the room, closing the door behind him.

"Uh, hi guys," I said nervously, my voice barely above a whisper. Killian's eyes were fixed on me, dark and filled with rage. Before I could process what was happening, he strode forward and grabbed me by the neck, lifting me off the couch with terrifying ease.

I gasped, clawing at his hand as I stared into his cold, unyielding eyes.

"You had one rule," Killian hissed, his voice dripping with venom. "One. And yet, you keep breaking it. Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right here and now."

My heart stopped at his words. For a moment, I wasn't sure if he was bluffing or if he truly meant it. The deadly look in his eyes suggested it.

Summoning every ounce of strength I had, I kicked him hard in the leg. He growled in pain, releasing me, and I crumpled to the floor, gasping for air.

I stood shakily, clutching my neck as I glared up at him. "Kill me?" I spat, my voice hoarse. "Do you really think death wouldn't be better than this? Don't forget, Killian, we're bonded. If you kill me, you'll lose all your strength until you're lucky enough to find a second-chance mate."

Killian growled louder, taking a threatening step toward me, but Keal grabbed his arm, stopping him.

"She's not worth it," Keal said quietly, though his tone was sharp.

Killian's jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides as he turned away. Meanwhile, Keal's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze unreadable.

I backed up instinctively as Keal stepped closer, unsure of what to expect. The tension in the room was suffocating, and I could feel my heart pounding against my ribs.

"Look," I said quickly, trying to defuse the situation. "I know I messed up. Can't we just move past this and—"

Before I could finish, my back hit the wall, and Keal's hand slammed against it beside my head. His face was mere inches from mine, his eyes filled with something I couldn't quite place—anger, yes, but also... something else.

"How dare you?" he whispered, his voice so low it sent a chill down my spine. "How dare you disrespect us?"

He hit the wall again, his fist cracking the plaster, and I flinched, squeezing my eyes shut. For a moment, I thought he was going to hurt me.

But then his hand brushed against my face, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear. I opened my eyes to see him staring at me, his expression no longer angry but... sad.

"Why?" he whispered, his voice soft now, almost broken. "Why do you keep doing this?"

I didn't know how to answer him. My breath caught in my throat as he pulled me closer, his grip firm but not painful. The intensity in his eyes made my chest tighten, and for a moment, the world around us seemed to fade away.

But just as quickly as it happened, he pulled back, his walls snapping back into place. Without another word, he turned and walked over to Killian.

"Let it go, Killian," Keal said, his back still to me. "We have bigger things to worry about."

Killian's eyes flicked to mine one last time, still burning with anger, before he followed Keal out of the room.

As the door shut behind them, I sank to the floor, burying my face in my hands. My chest felt tight, and my thoughts were a whirlwind of confusion and fear.

What just happened?

Lara's voice broke through the chaos, her tone sharp. "Don't worry, Nora. I'll find a way to get us out of here."

Her words only fueled the storm in my mind. "Enough, Lara!" I snapped aloud, my voice echoing in the empty room. "You've done nothing but make things worse. I have to deal with the two most dangerous Alphas in the Bloodfang pack, and instead of helping, you keep making it harder. I wish I had a different wolf. You're nothing but a curse."

The room fell silent, and for a moment, I regretted my words. I could feel Lara retreating into the back of my mind, her presence quieter than it had ever been.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, closing my eyes as tears threatened to fall. "I didn't mean it. I'm just... so tired of everything."

Lara didn't respond, but I could feel her pain, her sadness, and it only made the ache in my chest worse.

Taking a deep breath, I stared out the window, watching the sunlight filter through the trees. It was still bright outside, but inside, everything felt dark and heavy.

Maybe it's time to stop fighting, I thought bitterly. Maybe it's time to just accept my fate and be the Luna they want.

But even as the thought crossed my mind, I couldn't help but feel the fire still burning within me—the small, stubborn spark that refused to be extinguished.
