Chapter 6 - The Enemy’s Eyes

Chapter Six: The Enemy's Eyes

The man's golden eyes held mine for a fraction too long.

Something about him sent a chill up my spine—not just because he was unfamiliar, but because the moment his fingers brushed my skin, I felt it.

An odd, electric pull, as if my mind was screaming danger.

It wasn't the same as the bond with Keal and Killian, but it was something, something I could not understand as if my mind was asking me to run.

Before I could react, Keal's hand wrapped around my wrist and yanked me away.

At the same time, a deep, guttural growl rumbled through the air.

Killian.

His silver eyes gleamed with fury, his entire body coiled like a predator ready to strike.

The stranger didn't flinch.

If anything, he looked amused.

"Well, well," he murmured, his voice smooth as silk. "Seems I've hit a nerve."

The tension in the room turned suffocating. The air crackled with unspoken threats.

I took a small step back, my pulse racing.

Who is he?

"Dorian," Keal said, his voice low, warning.

So that was his name.

Dorian.

Something about it sent another shiver through me.

Killian took a slow step forward, his voice like ice. "What the hell are you doing here? What do you want?"

Dorian let out a low chuckle, his golden eyes twinkling with amusement. "Relax, Alpha. I came in peace."

"Bullshit," Killian snapped. His hands clenched into fists at his sides. "You don't do peace."

Keal's grip on my wrist tightened slightly. He hadn't let go since pulling me away, but now I could feel the tension in him—like he was preparing for something worse.

I looked between them, confused.

Who is this man?

And why does he seem to enjoy provoking them?

Dorian sighed dramatically, running a hand through his golden-blond hair. "If you must know, I heard a rumor. How can I put it? a quite interesting rumor?"

Killian's jaw twitched. "What rumor?"

Dorian's gaze flicked to me, then back to them. "That you have a new Luna."

The moment the words left his lips, Killian growled again, deeper this time—more feral.

Dorian just smiled.

"I had to see for myself," he continued, tilting his head. "And I must say, I'm surprised. She's… not what I expected."

I stiffened.

I hated the way he looked at me—like I was something to study, like I was someone a tool to stare at.

Before I could respond, Killian snapped, "Get. Out."

Dorian arched a brow. "Touchy, aren't we?"

Keal, who had remained silent, finally spoke. His voice was calm but firm. "You've seen what you came to see. Now leave."

Dorian exhaled slowly, as if bored.

Then, just before turning away, he met my eyes again. His smirk deepened.

"See you around, Luna."

And with that, he strode out of the room, completely unbothered by the fact that two furious Alphas were watching his every move.

The second the doors closed behind him, the tension in the room didn't ease.

It thickened.

It as if the whole place that seem a bit hot suddenly became so cold to stand on

I turned to Keal and Killian, my heart pounding. "Who was that?"

Keal's answer was quiet but heavy.

"Dorian," he said. "Alpha of the Silverclaws Pack."

My stomach twisted. "And what does that mean?"

Killian scoffed, running a hand through his hair. "It means he's our enemy."

I froze.

Enemy.

The weight of the word settled in my chest like a stone.

Keal sighed. "The Silverclaws have been our rivals for years. Dorian is… unpredictable. Dangerous. He'll do anything to see us fall."

Killian's silver eyes locked onto mine. "Even if it means killing our mate."

My breath hitched.

Killing.

I knew what kind of world I was in. I knew violence came with being part of a pack. But hearing them say it so casually made my blood run cold.

I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry. "I never asked for this," I whispered. "I never wanted to be part of this. Why do I have to be a target because I'm mated to you both?"

Killian's expression darkened, but before he could speak, I turned on my heel.

I had barely taken two steps when Keal grabbed my wrist again.

I was a bit tensed.

"Nora," he said softly.

I didn't turn around.

"Please," he murmured. "Don't go."

I squeezed my eyes shut.

Why did he have to sound like that? So damn gentle? So damn sincere?

My chest ached, but I forced myself to speak. "I just want to be free."

Keal's fingers twitched around my wrist.

Slowly, hesitantly, I turned back toward him.

His dark eyes held something I wasn't prepared to see.

Something raw.

Something real.

"I don't want to lose you," he admitted. His voice was low, barely above a whisper, but it echoed through me like a scream.

For a long moment, I couldn't breathe.

I didn't understand these people.

He was supposed to be my enemy.

They were supposed to reject me so I could be free

But looking at him now, seeing the sincerity in his face, I didn't know what to believe anymore.

After what felt like forever, I gave him a small, reluctant nod.

I would stay.

For now.

Keal exhaled slightly, like he had been holding his breath.

Killian, however, didn't move.

I turned to him next, expecting anger. Expecting him to demand my loyalty the way he always did.

But instead, he just stared at me.

As if he was trying to find the right words to use.

And for a moment—just a brief, fleeting second—I saw something else in his expression.

Not dominance.

Not rage.

But worry.

Like he was afraid of something.

Like he was scared I would disappear forever.

Like he also wants the same thing keal wants.

And I wasn't sure if that something was me…

Or the Alpha dorian of the Sliverclaws pack who had just walked out of the room.
