Reylesh continues to whine in the background as Tom walks over to the screen and presses a few buttons.
" We can't call for help. I could talk to Amy telepathically, but then she'd know I'm more than just a human and I'm not sure we can fully trust her. We'd preferably have to get out of this little predicament without using our powers. "
You look up at the corner of the elevator and see a camera pointed at you, then you respond to Tom.
" This place is also under constant surveillance as well, so if we do end up using our powers, we're going to be seen. "
Tom then looks up at a screen above the elevator door and sees that you're on the 329th floor.
" Still got over a hundred floors to go. Normally we could just fly up there… "
Gareth chimes in with a supportive tone.
" I suggest that we get the doors open and take a cruiser to the balcony of our suite. I can request one for immediate pickup if you'd like. I would just need your permission, as the leader of this operation. "
Tom looks at Gareth and pats him on the back, grateful for Gareth's support.
" That sounds like a great idea, Gareth. Thank you for running the idea by me first. Let's get these doors open. "
Gareth looks at Tom confused as if Tom's implying that he's incapable of opening them himself, but Tom clarifies so Gareth understands what he means.
" If I rip open the doors, I wouldn't just be a normal human now, would I? "
" Ah. "
Gareth says as he nods, immediately turns, and rips open the doors with his hands. The doors shriek and clang as they're forced open and the first thing you see outside the doors are a bunch of half naked Voldoorians partying in a penthouse of their own. Reylesh shuts her mouth as the music booms and the Voldoorians all silently stare at the four of you in the elevator awkwardly. After a brief moment of silence, the Voldoorians all cheer unanimously and raise their drinks as they welcome you into the penthouse.
Tom releases Reylesh from his telekinetic grasp and the four of you begin walking through the crowd of people to get to the balcony. As you pass the party goers, many women and men offer you drinks and drugs but you respectfully decline as you continue moving through the crowd. Reylesh gladly accepts everything that's given to her and laughs as she follows the three of you having fun. Eventually the four of you reach the balcony and you see a man and a woman having sex up on the ledge. There's a crowd of Voldoorians cheering them on as they surround them and the four of you walk closer to get a better look at what's happening.
The man is standing on the edge of a wall as he's holding the woman's legs with his arms and you see her holding onto his neck, hanging freely over the edge of the building as she gets railed above the city. The woman moans loudly as her bodily fluids squirt onto the windows outside the building and drip down onto the city below with each thrust as the crowd continues to cheer and whistle. Gareth steps forward and interrupts them, reaching up and putting his hand firmly on the man's shoulder.
" I'm gonna have to ask you two to step down from the edge of the balcony. "
The man turns his head and looks at Gareth rudely as he continues to thrust the woman and insults him.
" Fuck off, chump. This is my penthouse. "
Gareth then smiles softly as he gently squeezes his hand, effortlessly crushing the man's shoulder bone and the man yells in pain, falling down from the wall onto the balcony floor. As he falls, he lets go of the woman and she falls over the edge of the building, legs wide open, but she barely grasps the ledge with her arms as she holds on for dear life. She screams in terror as she struggles to pull herself up.
" AAHHH!! HELP ME!! "
The crowd laughs as they look at her naked and slipping on her own bodily fluids, seeing her dire situation as nothing more than entertainment. A man then approaches from the crowd with his arms up, shouting as he seeks their approval. He then picks up a chair on the balcony as the woman continues to slowly slip off and raises it above her, looking at the crowd as if he's asking them if he should finish her off. The crowd continues to cheer and woo as you emerge from the crowd without hesitation and punch the man square in his face. His nose flattens completely against his face as he falls back and hits his head on the wall, going unconscious, and the chair falls down over the side of the building to the streets below. The crowd gasps as the man slowly bleeds out from his face, sitting up against the wall as you immediately help the woman up from the ledge. The woman hugs you tightly and sobs uncontrollably with her face buried in your shoulder. As you look at the crowd coldly, they all silently stare at you before walking back inside the penthouse, clearing off the balcony. The woman holds you and cries, and Tom looks at you with admiration as he speaks to you.
" You beat me to it, Donny. "
You look at Reylesh to see envy wash over her face as the naked woman holds you, and Tom grabs a blanket nearby and uses it to cover the woman's body up as you sit her down in a nearby chair. She continues to cry and sob as you try to walk away, but stops you as she holds onto your sleeve tightly, not letting you go. She looks up at you and speaks to you, barely able to muster her words as her breathing stutters.
" T- tha- thank yo- you.. "
You nod your head silently with a soft smile and give her another hug down on one knee before Gareth's cruiser arrives right outside the balcony. Its doors open and you see Gareth and Reylesh board immediately, but Tom stands next to you for a moment until the woman is comfortable letting you go. You and Tom then walk to the cruiser together and he hugs you beside him as if he's proud of you before you both board the cruiser and sit across from Gareth and Reylesh. The doors to the cruiser close and you begin ascending to your floor.
" Why'd you save her, Abbadon? I thought you said that the people in this city needed to burn? "
Gareth asks in a curious manner. You look at him and answer him honestly and from the heart.
" It wasn't the crowd's place to take her life, especially when they're no better than she is. I also know what it feels like to be hanging on the edge with nobody to help me. I know what it's like to have my suffering be entertainment. It felt wrong… "
You think back to the day that Anito murdered your wife in front of your brothers while your daughter was locked in a cage. Their laughs and whistles echo within your head as you replay the sight of Ariel being stabbed over and over as you're being held down, unable to do anything about it. Tom immediately understands what you're referencing and you see a tear in his eye as he recalls that moment as well.
" I think you should've let her die. "
Reylesh interjects, ruining the moment with an attitude as she pouts and turns her head away from you.
" She was a whore just like I am. If I was hanging from that balcony, I doubt you would've saved me. "
Tom speaks up with a rebuttal to Reylesh's point.
" This isn't about you. Also, if Donny refused to save you, it would probably be because you pretended to- "
" OKAY YOU CAN SHUT UP NOW!! "
Reylesh interrupts as her face turns red, knowing that she's in the wrong. Tom looks at you with a smirk after she folds so easily and you give him a smile back.
The doors to the cruiser then open up and the four of you step off onto the balcony of your suite before making your way into your penthouse. Once you enter, you see Roary and Mimi eating sandwiches at a table. Mimi immediately sees you and her face lights up as she shouts.
" Star Faller!! "
She drops her sandwich down on the table before running up to you and giving you a big hug around your waist. After a brief moment, she pulls away from you and looks up at you with happy eyes. You smile looking down at her as Roary continues to munch on his sandwich. Tom, Gareth and Reylesh all walk into the main area of the penthouse as Tom addresses the room.
" Alright. Meeting time. Let's get a game plan figured out before we go to bed. "
You, Mimi, and Roary then walk into the main room and join the others as you sit together in a circle. Mimi makes herself comfortable next to you and Reylesh stares at her with intrigue. Tom continues to address the room.
" There are two days before our meeting with the Czar, so let's go over all of the objectives that we need to complete before then. "
Tom then pulls the book out and leans forward as he sets it on a table in the middle of the circle.
" First, we have the book. Reylesh was unable to open it in the club, but her insight on how to get it open was helpful. I don't know how we're going to find a being with an Omniversal level of power to open it, so for now, we'll mark this objective as incomplete. If any of you have suggestions, I'm open and willing to hear them. "
Tom then leans back in his seat as he continues talking.
" Second, we have The Devil's Den. We need access to the rooms in the club to figure out what exactly is going on in there. I'm having Amy work on getting us access. I don't know what awaits us behind that door, but if it has anything to do with The None, it's not going to be pretty. "
Tom then looks at you as he briefly summarizes what the next move is.
" Once Amy gets us access, the four of us will return to the club and figure out why Sowzo sent us there. Roary and Mimi will continue to stay here in the penthouse until our investigation is concluded and we have our meeting with the Czar. "
Roary smiles as he speaks up, responding to Tom.
" You got it, boss! Me and Mimi have actually been having a blast here in the penthouse together. "
Tom looks at Roary and nods, and you think about how smart it was to keep him here. If Roary saw half the things that you've seen here in the city, the city would definitely be burning by now.
