Chapter 2 - Plans for the Future

'I guess it really wasn't a bad dream huh?' Rhael thought to himself as he continued to stare at his reflection in the mirror before.

It had been about 30 minutes now since he had awakened and at this point he had already reluctantly accepted his situation.

Don't get him wrong, it's not like he was against being reborn in a fantasy world, cause it was actually quite the opposite.

As someone who was already quite fed up with how boring and soul-sucking 'real life' was, this was nothing short of a miracle and was something that he dreamt about countless times.

The only issue he had was with the world he got reincarnated into and how he got reincarnated.

If he had been reborn in the world of Ainz and then got transported to the new world then he would have been jumping with joy right now.

Sadly though, He got reincarnated as a native.

In comparison to those monsters from the Yggdrasil, most of the natives in the new world other than the dragons and those descended from the "Gods"

The rest of the natives were pitifully weak and were no different from lambs or mere ants to be slaughtered.

And even if he was given 15 years to develop before The Great Tomb of Nazarick descended, it made little difference in comparison to what was once the largest and one of the strongest guilds in Yggdrasil.

As for how Rhael knew that he only had 15 years remaining?

Well, that was because in his memories most of the major nobles of the kingdom had recently gone to the capital to celebrate the birthday of Princess Renner turning 1. And because Renner was only 16 when Nazarick descended.

It wasn't very hard to get a grasp of where the timeline was currently at.

But even if he knew, what difference did it make?

After waking up and realizing that this really wasn't just some bad dream, he had naturally tried to figure out whether or not he had transmigrated with any unique abilities or perks and so far after various different attempts, it was safe to say that there was none (or at least one that he was currently aware of)

Without some type of perk or being blessed with 'Good Genes', what could he really achieve even if he was given 15 years to develop?

At best, he could just make sure that he didn't end up becoming coming cannon fodder.

Shaking his head to rid himself of those useless and negative thoughts, Rhael decided it was best to just focus on the present and make sure that he didn't at least die a meaningless death when the kingdom gets taken over in the future.

Walking away from the mirror, and moving to the northwest section of the room was a desk made with dark mahogany wood, its rich, polished surface gleaming faintly. Intricate carvings of swirling vines and heraldic symbols adorned its edges, suggesting both opulence and a familial legacy, on that desk, laid various scrolls and books all neatly arranged from category to alphabetical order.

Picking up one of the empty journaling books he was once gifted, Rhael took a seat and started writing out all the major story points he could remember from memory.

Starting with the most important and pivotal characters, to less important characters who still contributed to the background and major events in the story and that might even have a hidden effect if he used them accordingly and then finally to important lore and weapons in the novel such as the guild base of the seven Greed Kings guarded by that troublesome dragon.

After spending at least 2 hours writing down all of the information that he could remember in a language known only to him and maybe the descendants of a few players from Yggdrasil.

Rhael promptly hid his journal on the back of a bookshelf he had noticed earlier when he first entered the room.

'This knowledge should at least give me some advantages or be helpful in the future' Rhael thought to himself as he glanced at the journal hidden in a way that made it almost invisible to spot unless one was directly searching for it.

*Grrr*

Came the sound of Rhaels tummy rumbling. It was only at this point that Rhael finally remembered that it had been at least 5-6 hours now since he had awoken the memories of his past life and with how caught up he had been with everything going on he had forgotten to eat.

While 5-6 hours might not be a particularly long time for an adult to go without eating, for a child who's just about to turn 5, it wasn't exactly quite the same.

Walking away from the bookshelf and making his way through the door of his room and into the hallway, Rhael couldn't help but notice just how extravagant the mansion of Major Noble was.

The hallway gleamed with polished marble and gilded chandeliers, lined with ancestral portraits and velvet-draped windows.

Maids glided past with trays and linens, their steps silent on rich carpets, while footmen carried crates and firewood with practised ease.

What was surprising though was just how happy all of the maids and helpers around the mansion were, and while he had already seen such a scene from his memories, there was still a huge difference witnessing it all first-hand.

"Young master" called out a maid from behind while bowing her head.

"The First Maid is looking for you" she stated while continuing to bow

"Please inform Celia to find me in the dining room" Rhael replied in a Confident and unhurried tone as he glanced back at the maid to mask just how awkward he felt inside at the thought of another human being bowing and being so submissive to him before continuing his walk towards the dining room.

As for why Celia was looking for him?

That probably had to do with how absent-minded he was earlier and how he had dismissed her.

As the first maid of the entire mansion and as the person who basically raised Rheal after the passing of his mother during birth, it wasn't weird for her to notice that something (especially with how obvious it was) was wrong with him, rather it would have been weird if she didn't.

Just as Rheal was about to take a step forward and continue walking towards the dining room, the voice of the maid from earlier came once again, this time with an obvious hint of hesitation in her voice.

"Ex-scuse me Young Master" she stammered slightly

"But dinner isn't until 2 hours later"

"If you would like, I can have the chefs bring you over some snacks and desserts for you to enjoy" she continued

"I See. Have them sent over to The Garden Terrace and also make sure to inform Celia of where to find me" Rhael replied in that same Confident and unhurried tone from earlier but this time to mask how embarrassed he was from making such a careless mistake before changing his direction and making his way towards the garden terrace.

Staring at her master's back, a hint of confusion could be seen in the maid's eye, as she thought of how different her master seemed from usual before snapping out of her daze and deciding to get back to work.

After all, how could someone like her dare to say they understood their master…..

(Relatively short chapter today, Got home extremely tired, next chapter should be significantly longer)
