Chapter 8 - An Old Man's Good Deed

The three items which Chen Zhiyu couldn't remember were a bamboo slip, a portable container and a jade pendant that was mangled to an unrecognizable state. The jade pendant despite its battered and shattered appearance had a globe with a word engraved in it which was similar to the LONG.

It was glowing albeit with dim light but it also gave a contradictory soothing feeling compared to the overwhelming aura in the room.

"Eh! Who entered into this old man's house" a hoarse voice of an elder buzzed in Chen Zhiyu's ears.

He could not decipher the voice's intent at all but he was currently tired and exhausted making his mind unable to process what was going on around him.

Next, an elderly man dressed in casual gray robes appeared. His hair was tied to a bun and gray in color too. Though he had some etch of wrinkles on his face, he still looked appealing to the eyes despite his old-man appearance.

"A brat actually fearlessly came here by himself after so many years" he said with the faint appearance of a smile on his lips before stooping weakly to check Chen Zhiyu closely.

Strangely, his entire frame didn't crackle or even make unusual noises despite the fact that he squatted down to check him. Considering how spent he was in years, a normal elder would have pains from stooping but he did so without a single twitch of facial muscle.

After holding Chen Zhiyu's hand in his, he began to make observations. Minutes after he gently dropped Chen Zhiyu's hand to himself and shook his head. When he stood up however, he began pacing around and speaking in soliloquy.

"Aye! What a silly child to be messing around with such poisons. And he actually did so without a fortified body. Did he want to die…" he paused before bringing out his hand as though he wanted to make traditional counts with his fingers before continuing,

"Eclipsing Bone Poison, Moon Venom Sting, Meridian Freezing Needle, Gloomy Fragrance. Just who did this troublesome brat offend to get poisoned by this many lethal spiritual poisons"

The old man sighed to himself afterwards, he happened to reminisce about the issue of these poisons. His sagely mind began analyzing different thoughts and in between he would offer a glance at Chen Zhiyu as though monitoring the latter's every expression on a microscopic level.

About an incense stick time later,

Chen Zhiyu was seated into a lotus position with his back against the old man who was currently sweating profusely. Chen Zhiyu's expression though with no trace of activity, happened to he very calm and relaxed, a total contradiction to the old man who was sighing and panting like a marathon sprinter.

However, if one payed closer attention and observed the details on Chen Zhiyu's body, they'd come to realize that nearly all of his entire body was covered in needles —they weren't ordinary needles— but the kind used by acupuncturists and alchemists.

The old man had managed to coat all of these needles in the subtlest of spiritual qi that would help expel the poisons and toxins accumulated in Chen Zhiyu's body as quickly as possible without causing much pain.

However, he was an elderly person and there was little to no lighting in the room except the one brought from the illumination of the moon from above. In the acupuncture process, one needed meticulous calculations and also focus as well as stamina to be able to maintain the entire process without errors.

Too many errors could cause imbalance which would lead to further complications that would then cause eventual death. Hence, it was tasking to force out that many toxins out of Chen Zhiyu by himself without any assistance which perfectly explained his visible exhaustion.

Just then, he finally managed to shoot the last acupuncture needle with a finger flip and it landed on Chen Zhiyu's wrist region. All of the needles seemed crowded but the old man was wise enough and at least knew what he was doing.

The poison had flowed throughout hus system but it also had places of higher concentration and lower concentration.

So the old man's goal was to misdirect the poisons from the high concentrations to go out first and then the ones with lower concentration could be discharged as excreta later on.

Eventually, his goal was achieved as the poison began making a stir within Chen Zhiyu. The Eclipsing Bone Poison, Moon Venom Sting and Jade Nightmare poisons were forced out at a rapid pace. The Eclipsing Bone Poison had a whitish aura on appearing, the Moon Venom Sting was the same and so was the Jade Nightmare poison too.

They kept on rolling out, leaving an unusual stir around Chen Zhiyu's body for quite sometime before expelling in a direction.

"Come to Papa!" The old man grinned mischievously as a jade container, very similar to the one that was not too far from where Chen Zhiyu passed out a moment earlier.

As though following an order, the white, silver and chalky mists generated by the poison's aura headed in the old man's direction. With a swift and undelayed response, they clashed head-on with the jade container, stirring up with resistance.

"Hmph! Trying to resist? It's futile!" The old man scoffed before a faint aura slipped out of him.

The mists tried to resist for a second, however, they suddenly halted as though becoming bound by strange laws to flow into the jade container.

Afterwards, the old man chuckled to himself following his successful collection of the poison mists. Following that, he stashed away the jade container before glancing once at Chen Zhiyu. He shook his head, sighed and turned in the opposite direction, muttering some words only he could hear.

And so, for the rest of the night, Chen Zhiyu's figure remained suspended in the lotus position, completely immersed in the poison expulsion process which even he had no idea about.

However, the only thing that gave him away was the look of ease on his face as the poison mists were discarded out of his body slowly but at a calculated rate. In a few hours time, he would be completely stupefied at how quickly his poisons were expelled.
