Narrator Pov
It was another day waking up for Mike John in the orphanage, a black messy haired 14 year old in Arizona, after the car accident that left him alone at the age of seven with only a photo of his little brother to remember his family.
A coping mechanism to deal with this was reading Marvel and Star Wars comic books, given to him graciously by his favorite Nanny in the orphanage Miss Jingles. Not sure if that's actually her real name or just a name that was made up he was just grateful for the comic books she would buy him and sometimes the other kids.
getting up and grabbing his clothes which were a mix and match of dark navy blue pants and a black shirt that almost doesn't fit him anymore he walks out of his shared room with the person who he sometimes wants to strangle, Derick, although a good friend he's extremely lazy but smart if he had to compare him with something of fiction he would say he's a Nara from Naruto but that wasn't what really mattered right now.
Something or someone had been watching the orphanage, though Mike wanted to chalk it up to paranoia but... it seemed so real whatever was happening. Whatever this thing that was watching the orphanage it didn't seem like a human or one thing, whenever Mike or Derick felt a sensation of either peace or danger envelop them they know it's watching.
At first it was just a feeling something that didn't really alert them very much just a touch or a pinch of it but three weeks later they can see glowing eyes watching them in darkness, people who never noticed them but then just stare at them from across crowds, and more.
Although Mike tried to find the bright side of things he can't with this demon or supernatural creature that was watching the orphanage at first but then them, they might be in legitimate danger Mike thought but Derick on the other hand attempted to joke that 'Okay, we are either dealing with supernatural things or there's a lot more predators in Arizona than we thought.'
Although Derick was only slightly concerned just chalking it up to somebody been drugging him and Mike possible through their food, or ventilation. Whatever it was their was in no way it was a supernatural thing, everything could and would be logically explained 'Our ancestors thought lightning was from mystical beings when nowadays we know it's from charge separation and field generation within a thunderstorm.' Derick kept on trying not just to convince Mike but himself.
Mike on the other hand felt like he needed to get out of there or at least just for the time being the whatever is out there comes after him and not the orphans who still have a bright future ahead of them, possible adoptions, excelling either academically or alethically, or maybe just being a doing okay in school, and no matter what those kids still have a future ahead of them.
That was until today...
Mike John Pov
"Ugh.." I groan out in annoyance getting woken up from sleep, opening my eyes I'm not in my room anymore I am out in the wilderness or some national park.
I'm on top of a hill with my back against a tree while seeing a water fall about 35-45 feet away from me if my crappy calculations are correct, probably wrong, but anyway there's a forest surronding everything almost seeming endless.
So, maybe whatever that thing was got me and hopefully just me... I'll know Derick will do just fine without me he's the smartest guy I know. Eventually after three minutes I decided to relax against the grass against all my instincts, it feels nice. Until this guy comes...
"Mike John, you have been selected for something greater and bigger than anything you have imagined." finally hearing the voice of the thing that has been stalking me I reply "So this is what's been stalking me huh? An old man? Seriously not a demon, or a wendigo, or maybe some other supernatural creature?" As I finished speaking the ground beneath me started shaking due to the guys laughter, his laughter is shaking the ground beneath me and possible causing a miniature earthquake!
"You know I wonder if I should have gotten the other one and he gotten you... But your acts of kindness and compassion towards the people in your life despite the tragedies is the reason I chose you for this." He says ominously though quickly piecing it together somebody else took Derick...
"Is he safe?" I ask of the old man "That I can not say for certain... But he will not be entirely defenseless." I have gained all of the answers I need, although not entirely happy he couldn't live a somewhat normal life I feel we'll meet again someday.
"So, gramps what is this purpose that's so great?" "It's simply I decided that your kindness is needed elsewhere, somewhere where you might enjoy life a little more." He says... Somewhere I would enjoy life is with my friend which this old man severely missed.
"I would enjoy life with the people that had been taking care of me and actually respect my boundaries and not send me somewhere to fix whatever your asking." after saying this the old man stiffened... was he sorry?
Next thing you know he said I don't have a choice whether I want to do this or not and then apologized... What kind of bullshit is this?! He opened a portal with his appearance changing, I know this guy from a comic book TOAA or The one Above All, I'm getting sent to the Marvel universe?!?! Oh, well okay not too bad hopefully I get something good to defend myself.
After a few seconds I jump into the portal but not before thanking/apologizing to the guy but he should have told me from the get go I'm getting transmigrated or reincarnated.
He gave me holocrons? I Have the FORCE!!! Let's a go!
