Chapter 4 - Chapter 1: Recordings of Union Leader Lewin

Document 1: Recordings of Union Leader Lewin

Planet: Albion, Southern Region

Event: Merchant Insurgency

Subject: Leader of the Albion Merchants' Union

---

Recording 1

Date: November 13, 3995

Recorded at the Merchant City Center of Albion. These recordings are made to document the current union meeting and, as the new leader, I will ensure the registration of future meetings as well.

(Sound of Lewin coughing)

"Today, Monday, November 13, 3995, Letos Market, a senior union member, called an emergency meeting to discuss the death of the previous union leader and, as per the rules, the selection of their replacement. Here are the topics discussed in the meeting:" (Sound of papers rustling)

1. Topic: Erasing records of the former leader.

Outcome: As the leader was executed for suspected treason against the government, all names and records were erased. Despite resistance from senior members, this was accepted without a vote due to direct government orders.

2. Topic: Appointment of a new leader.

Outcome:** Unanimously elected as I was the only nominee. Fear among members due to frequent leader assassinations contributed to this decision.

3. Topic: Redistribution of the late leader's assets.

Outcome:

- Residences: Seized by the government.

- 10 hectares of fruit farms: Seized by the government.

- Two market stalls: Purchased by union member Franco.

- Merchandise: Divided among three union members with similar businesses.

The meeting concluded without issues.

---

Recording 3

Date: November 27, 3995

"Meeting held on Monday, November 27, 3995. This session established weekly meetings. Few issues were discussed apart from concerns from the previous week regarding a commotion involving a foreigner and the guards of the current government leader's nephew.

The incident caused significant damage to union members' stalls. Fortunately, the government promised compensation. With this assurance, the meeting was adjourned."

Recordings 4 & 5*

Dates:December 4 and 11, 3995

Status: Lost.

---

Recording 6

Date: December 18, 3995

"Today's meeting addressed several pressing issues stemming from recent weeks."

1. Unpaid government compensation:

Outcome: No immediate resolution; the issue was postponed until payment is received or a solution is devised.

2. Murders outside the city:

Outcome: Rumors suggest soldiers targeting suspected traitors. To minimize risk, members agreed to relocate businesses closer to the city center.

3. Rebellion rumors:

Outcome: A close vote determined the union would remain neutral unless approached by the government for supplies.

4. Mentions of Gilgæ:

Outcome: Though previously dismissed, rumors linking Gilgæ to the disappearance of an entire village resurfaced. For safety, the topic was once again avoided.

Recording 7

Date: January 8, 3996

"The meeting focused on financial discrepancies from last year, including a decline in laborers and missing funds in December. Decisions made:"

1. Klaus volunteered to request an audience with the state leader regarding compensation.

2. Repairs will address mysterious sand-dwelling creatures around the city.

3. Search teams will investigate missing laborers without notifying the government.

The Gilgæ issue seemed resolved."

Recording 8

Date: January 15, 3996

Klaus is dead.(Lewin begins to cry)

"The meeting was canceled. Background noises suggest union members were fighting."

---

Recording 9

Date: January 22, 3996

"Today's session focused on Klaus's death and the rebellion led by Gilgæ.

Klaus's fate remains unclear. The last report stated he was sent to the state leader's nephew's residence but disappeared thereafter.

Regarding the rebellion, news of a coup has spread. It seems our laborers orchestrated the plan under Gilgæ's banner. The union decided to protect assets and avoid involvement, hoping for a swift resolution."

---

Recording 10

Date: February 5, 3996

"What we saw was horrific. Klaus's severed head was displayed in Albion's central square. Reports indicate the state leader's nephew tortured and killed Klaus out of boredom, claiming 'treason' as an excuse.

Today, the union made a definitive decision."

Aftermath

Records of the Albion Merchants' Union end here. Historians confirm the union was renamed the "Albion People's Guild" and joined Gilgæ's rebellion.

Future recordings by Lewin, now part of the guild council, are preserved and studied on Albion today.
