Very early in the morning, Mikhail set out for the forest to go and search for Glory, as he liked to call it.
The sky was dark, and he had ensured he carried every weapon needed.
Today, he would try and defeat the monster that was strong enough even to try and face his brother.
It was not the first time he had gone out to battle alone, but the first one he had gone without being commanded.
For a brief moment, Mikhail wondered whether that was his best option, as he knew that keeping her alive was a chance to defeat his brother.
No, he banished the thoughts quickly. Mikhail could not think of helping in the death of his brother.
Apart from the fact that the vampires would make sure he and his family were gone, he still knew that the chances of a girl winning were little because he felt that his brother was too strong to be handled.
Also, Mikhail decided that he would only try to become greater than him and not directly attack him as it would also be attacking himself.
Mikhail quickly reached the outskirts of the town and went to the barrier. The city had a barrier with magical spells that repelled vampires and two guards watching.
They were two in number assigned to guard the gates and signal the town when anyone tried to get in.
The men were strong and were very capable of the job. However, they were not so serious with the job as they knew no vampire would dare try to sneak into their town as the vampires feared them.
This gave Mikhail the time and advantage he needed to escape as he saw that the men who were supposed to guard the town were fast asleep.
It was not comforting to see that such was happening in their ranks, but now, Mikhail was not worried about it as he needed their nonchalance.
After all, if they were awake, he would need to do a lot more preparation, probably even earlier, after drugging them without their knowledge as he had done in the past.
Mikhail got close to the gate and the men. They appeared to be fast asleep, but he decided he could not be sure, so he tested whether they were truly asleep.
Mikhail threw glass on the stone in front of them from where he hid. It was a bit much as they had a great sense of hearing, too, but he knew that they would have to act as if the sound was terrible, and they would not be able to pretend anymore if they were acting.
Mikhail saw that the men were truly asleep, and he decided that he would give it a try.
Mikhail was able to succeed without waking the men up.
As he left the town, Mikhail smiled at how brave he was being. Mikhail knew he was attempting something that had not been done in a long time, so he knew it would be too dangerous.
Nevertheless, he marched on like the soldier that he was. At that moment, he was not just a soldier anymore; he was an assassin.
After a few hours, Mikhail got to a valley. It was a deep one and the valley used to know when a person was straying too far.
It was the sign that a person was getting near the town of vampires and that the only chance to try and keep your life was at that moment.
Seeing the valley made Mikhail happy. For others, they usually felt terrible, but he felt great as he had gotten so many victories there.
The Valley was named after many people who had lost their lives there. Mikhail smiled and jumped in excitedly.
It was a deep valley, but he was not hurt as he had practiced doing that often. It was the one thing he had practiced the most.
From his youth, he had always done the worst things that no one would think of, and this was only one of them.
Mikhail landed on the side of a hill and smiled at how well he had managed to take the fall. It was a long jump and something to be proud of.
Mikhail began moving deep into the valley. They were wild animals and beasts, too, that he had to be wary of, so he was on his guard
Suddenly, he saw someone move very quickly past him. It was dark, but he could still see the person clearly, and he knew immediately that it was not a werewolf but something else.
Suddenly, it passed him again, and he was convinced this time. It was a vampire that had crossed his path, and it was a tricky one trying to catch him off-guard.
Quickly, Mikhail took off his armor and chased after it. The person stopped, and he saw that it was a little boy.
Mikhail was confused, wondering what a little bit was doing in the woods alone. Mikhail looked at the boy and smiled, shocked by what happened next.
The Little boy flared and tried to attack him. Mikhail dodged and held the boy in the air with one hand.
The boy had sensed that he was not a vampire and had thought he would have a nice meal off him.
"You're dead. I will kill you," the kid said, making Mikhail laugh.
"Hey, you have no idea what you are doing? I could deal with at least a hundred of you if I wanted to, so don't give me any ideas," Mikhail said.
The boy was afraid of what he heard. The man before him claimed to be powerful enough to take a hundred of him on.
If that was true, that meant his life was in danger.
"Please, let me go. I promise not to disturb you again," the boy said.
Mikhail laughed his guts out. It was shocking that he was giving up so easily. Mikhail wondered what to do with the little boy as he was unwilling to hurt him.
Still, it was weird that he was out in the open all by himself, and he decided that he would interrogate him before letting him go.
