Chapter 2 - To be a vessel

It was clear that the fight would not come to an end until one group emerged victorious, looking at the chaos in front of him, Osborne smiled even though his supporters weren't doing so well.

"luckily i was prepared" he jumped off his carriage and used his wind element to boost his speed, tossing aside anyone who was in his way.

"Stop him! Don't let him reach her!" Alaric yelled when he saw Osborne rushing towards the stage.

"Pay attention or you might just lose a limb" Rosetta made small ice spikes and threw them at Alaric, but he reacted fast and deflected them, only getting a shallow cut on his face that froze up immediately.

Those who heard Alaric's words tried to stop Osborne but all their efforts were futile, only managing to slow him down at most but he still ended up reaching the stage in the end.

Without wasting any time, he quickly grabbed Ayasha by the hand and coated his wind magic around her to make her weightless as they flee from the chaos. Some people tried to pursue them but were quickly left in far behind.

"Wait, my mother!" Ayasha screamed as she got dragged against her will.

"Rana will be fine, we have more important things to do" Osborne didn't give her a chance to object and immediately ran at full speed. When he finally stopped, Ayasha noticed that she was in an unfamiliar location and a small building stood tall in front of her. it looked like a small inconspicuous tower made made out of black stones which was a common material for building houses.

"Why did you bring me here? my mother... she'll be worried"

"Shut up, you'd be dead if it weren't for me" Osborne took out a jagged rock that had a soft glow around it and placed it on a little hollow space of what should've been the handle of a door. As soon as it landed, the door glowed softly before making a click sound, Osborne kicked it open and dragged Ayasha behind him.

Right after entering, the door clicked shut by itself, looking around there seemed to be all kinds of broken machines and new ones being built.

They didn't wait for long before a short bold man with gray messy hair came running down the steep stairs of the tower.

"I saw the light" he peeked behind Osborne and smiled "i must say, l am delighted and surprised at the same time, who knew that little devil of yours wouldn't be the one walking through these doors"

"Cut the crap, we don't have much time, get to work" Osborne snapped.

"Alright alright… don't yell" Sirius turned to his right and picked up what looked like a helmet with two pairs of antennas connected to each other by a thin thread glowing with fluorescent light.

When he tried to place it on Ayasha's head, she dodged it "What are you doing?"

Sirius turned to Osborne with a frown on his face "I have a feeling you didn't fill in the kid on the details" Sirius said after noticing how nervous Ayasha seemed.

"Forgot" Osborne said, pretending to be looking at the many gadgets around.

Sirius almost slapped his own head knowing fully well what was going on in Osborne's mind "you always do this" he mumbled before looking back at Ayasha.

"Kid…this device here… will help you awaken your ancestor. So… please sit still, the machine is very fragile"

Ayasha's body visibly trembled "What happens to me? When.. when he awakens?"

Sirius glanced at Osborne but he moved even further away still pretending to be interested in a pile of junk. He sighed and shook his head "I'll be honest with you, the priority of our research was to make sure we find a way the king awakened. No one ever thought about what would happen to the vessels after that."

Ayasha bit her lip until a metallic taste invaded her mouth "what if...l'm not willing?"

"You think this is up to you to decide?" Osborne said as he twirled his finger, the wind around Ayasha started to visibly swirl and until it covered her whole body, leaving only her head exposed. "Too much was sacrificed and a lot was spent to finally be able to make this machine. Stay still and do your job, be a good vessel, that's the whole reason for your existence."

Bound by the wind, Ayasha couldn't move and could only watch with terrified eyes as Sirius placed the helmet on her head. Then he took around a small yellow crystal that was glowing brightly and placed it in between the four antennas. Immediately, the glowing threads attached themselves to the crystal and started to glow brightly.

Suddenly, Osborne's ears twitched "They are here....i will go deal with them."

Nervous, Sirius went over to an opening on the wall to check and his eyes widened at the sheer number of the enemy forces "There's too many of them, even if you go all out, some of them will still slip through.

"I only need to hold them off, 'he' will finish them off. How long until it's done?"

Sirius went closer to check on the helmet "Hmm? why is the energy absorption rate so fast?" The energy crystal from before was barely glowing, Sirius with a pained expression took out another similar crystal and placed it on top of the helmet.

"uh oh... we might need more crystal than we expected...and fast!" Sirius exclaimed.

Osborne immediately took out a small wooden box from thin air and opened it before throwing all the crystals on top of Ayasha's head. Seeing so many high quality energy crystal being casually taken out without any emotion, Sirius almost pulled on his hair out of heart ache. "That should be about a hundred crystals! Sigh...i could make so many powerful gadgets with that" He mumbled.

The helmet quickly absorbed the energy from the crystal, transferring it all to Ayasha's body which seemed like it couldn't handle the energy influx. Her eyes glowed in eight different colors while her body continuously convulsed in her bondage, even her hair rose and floated, brimming with intense energy. The used up crystals dropped to the ground one by one, making Sirius wonder what kind of monster they were summoning. Being able to absorb so much energy at once was not something that was even humanly possible.

"i...i have a bad feeling about this. Osborne, get her the hell out of my tower!" Sirius said as he felt a sense of foreboding,

Osborne had already moved before Sirius spoke, he tried to touch her with his hand but the energy round her burned his hands fiercely, pushing through the pain he finally grabbed hold of her hand and went outside the tower.

Seeing Osborne coming out of the building, Alaric who was covered in blood smiled cheekily "Handover the girl or my-"

"-here, you can have her" Osborne cut him off.

"Wait!! Take off my machine first!" Sirius yelled in panic and hurried to open the door but Osborne had already thrown Ayasha straight towards the incoming group of people.

"What the the hell?" Alaric was the first to sense something was wrong, he immediately ran away from the falling body, as for the others who were slow in the realization, it was too late for them.

Before her body could even land on the ground, a strong energy purse exploded from her body, obliterating everything its way. Not even Alaric or Osborne were spared from it, Osborne's body flew backwards and hit the tower, he coughed out a mouthful of blood before looking at the destruction around him. Even with the dust obstructing his vision, he could still make out the small figure of a girl walking towards him with glowing eyes.

"Haha.....Hahahaha..... your might is as powerful as the legend speaks. Welcome back ancestor!" Osborne laughed in ecstasy and went down on one knee.
