On the other side, Lu Jinchen stood still, his gaze locked on the closed door. His fingers curled into tight fists, and his anger rose. "Is this the room?" he asked, his voice calm—maybe too calm.
Gao Yiming swallowed hard and nodded. He could sense the storm brewing beneath his friend's composed exterior. When he got the word that Miss Xia was here, he was relieved and quickly rushed over with Lu Jinchen.
But it was only after they arrived that they learned she wasn't alone… She was with…
Before he could finish that thought, a man hurried toward them, his face slick with sweat and breath labored. The manager. "Mr. Lu… Mr. Lu…" he gasped, clutching a master key, his hands trembling.
Lu Jinchen narrowed his eyes, his gaze almost murderous. "Open it."
The manager hesitated, clearly on the verge of collapse, his hands shaking so badly he nearly dropped the key. Gao Yiming couldn't help but feel some sympathy for the man. "If you keep glaring like that, the poor guy might pass out from fear even before the door opens," he muttered in a low voice.
Lu Jinchen shot him a look, and instantly, Gao Yiming's words died in his throat. He stepped back, silent.
The door creaked open, and the manager stepped aside. Lu Jinchen strode inside like a husband about to catch his wife in the act of adultery—and in a way, that's exactly what he was doing. This was the news they got after arriving here.
Miss Xia wasn't alone. She checked into the hotel room with another man... a strange man who was not Lu Jinchen.
The room was a complete mess. Clothes were thrown carelessly across the floor. High heels and shoes are tossed aside like discarded toys. Empty wine bottles littered the surface. The heavy scent of alcohol clung to the air, mixing with something even more damning—the unmistakable scent of sex.
Anyone with half a brain could tell what had happened here.
"Heh," A sneer escaped Lu Jinchen's lips.
Something sharp twisted in his chest.
So this was where she had been all night. While he had spent the night worrying about her, wondering whether she was fine or not, thinking of taking revenge on her behalf, she had been here. In another man's arms.
He clenched his fists.
Their marriage was nothing more than a contract, a legal formality. She was free to live as she pleased—except for one rule. No cheating.
And yet, here she was. Breaking it.
Lu Jinchen's fists clenched so tightly his knuckles whitened. His blood boiled. How could she do this to him? How dare she put a green hat on top of his head?
Behind him, Gao Yiming stiffened, probably feeling the shift in the air. He had never seen Lu Jinchen this angry, but it was clear why. Any husband, contract or not, would be consumed by rage at this.
And to make matters worse, the bathroom door opened and a man stepped out, his body draped in nothing but a white towel hung low around his waist. His damp hair clung to his forehead, droplets of water sliding down his collarbones, and over his bare chest covered with marks— Nail scratches. Kiss marks. Bite marks.
Lu Jinchen's gaze darkened.
His blood run cold was the identity of the man standing before him.
Si Han.
The famous heir of the Si group. A notorious playboy who changed women faster than he changed clothes.
And also, his former best friend.
Behind him, Gao Yiming's eyes widened. His mind spun. Si Han? What was Si Han doing here? Wasn't he supposed to be abroad? This... this wasn't good...
Not only did Miss Xia cheat but she did it with the one man Jinchen hated the most.....
Immedietely, the room seemed to shrink.
Si Han was slightly startled to see so many people in his room, but when he saw Lu Jinchen, his lips curled into a small smirk, as amusement flickered in his eyes. "Jinchen," he drawled, running a hand through his damp hair. "What a pleasant surprise. I just got back last night, and here you are, breaking down my door first thing in the morning. Missed me that much, huh?"
"Where is she?" Lu Jinchen asked, jumping straight to the point.
Si Han tilted his head. "Who?"
"Xia Yuqing."
Something flickered in Si Han's eyes, something like amusement, calculation, and then satisfaction. "Ah," he mused. "You mean the woman inside? So that's her name? I must say, she's quite the beauty… and delicious. But why are you asking about her? Do you know her?"
Suddenly, his eyes widened dramatically, and his laughter filled the room. "Wait a minute... don't tell me. Did I manage to steal your girl again?"
"Si Han!" Lu Jinchen warned, his voice a low growl.
But Si Han only grinned, completely unfazed. "I have to hand it to you, Jinchen—your taste in women is exquisite." He tilted his head toward the bedroom, his smirk deepening. "That one? A real wildcat. Clung to me all night, desperate for more. You should've heard the way she moaned my name."
That was it.
The last thread of restraint inside Lu Jinchen snapped.
One second, he was standing still. The next, his fist was colliding with Si Han's jaw. The force sent Si Han stumbling back, crashing into the nightstand. The lamp fell and shattered against the floor.
Gao Yiming cursed under his breath and rushed forward, grabbing Lu Jinchen's arm before he could strike again. "Jinchen, stop! Control yourself"
Si Han wiped the blood from the corner of his lip, his smirk still intact. "That temper of yours Jinchen.... it's still the same... tsk... tsk...," he clicked his tongue, rising back on his feet. "Listen to your dog. Control yourself. What if you scare your little lover inside?"
Lu Jinchen yanked his arm free from Gao Yiming's grip, his knuckles white, his breaths ragged. He was seconds away from beating Si Han into a pulp, seconds away from breaking something when a soft, startled voice cut through the tension.
"What… what's going on here?"
