"Lucian, can I talk to you for a second?"
A beautiful girl with blond hair and blue eyes asked nervously, her gaze fixed on a handsome boy with black hair and golden eyes. His waist-length hair framed his lean figure, giving him a striking appearance.
"Yes," the boy named Lucian replied, his voice calm as he placed his spoon down on the plate after just sipping a spoonful of soup.
They were in the academy's bustling canteen, surrounded by students chatting at various tables. However, all eyes were now on Lucian's table. Until moments ago, he had been sitting alone, but now three girls had joined him—all of them beautiful, their presence drawing attention.
The girl who had spoken was Celine. Her companions, Rosia and Amber, sat beside her.
Rosia had short pink hair adorned with a butterfly clip. Her childlike face and petite figure were complemented by her clear pink-hued eyes. She wore the academy's standard uniform: a white shirt, a blue blazer, a black skirt with blue linings, and white thigh-high stockings.
Amber, in contrast, had slightly longer red hair tied in a neat ponytail. Her athletic build featured a well-endowed chest, a slim waist, and toned thighs. She wore the same uniform but opted for black stockings. Her contrasting white and amber-red eyes reflected a fiery nature.
Once they had all taken their seats opposite Lucian, Celine hesitated before speaking, her lips pressed into a slight, constrained smile.
"So, how are you, Lucian?"
"I am fine, Miss Celine," Lucian replied, his expression calm as he wore a polite smile.
The formality of "Miss" caught all three girls off guard. They exchanged surprised glances.
Noticing their silent exchange, Lucian decided to address their purpose directly. "So, what do you want to talk about?"
Celine's uneasy expression deepened. She glanced at Rosia and Amber for support. Gathering her resolve, she met Lucian's eyes with a determined look and said, "Lucian, I want to annul our engagement."
Lucian's expression remained unchanged, his calm golden eyes unwavering. "Ok," he said simply.
The three girls stared at him, mouths agape. Shock and disbelief painted their faces.
"What do you mean, 'Ok'? Didn't you hear what she just said?" Amber exclaimed, her fiery eyes widening in incredulity.
Lucian's gaze shifted to her, calm as ever. "She wants to break off the engagement," he repeated.
Rosia blinked, trying to process his response. "Yes, but you're just saying 'Ok'?"
"Yeah. Ok," Lucian said with a small shrug, as if the matter were trivial.
Amber's irritation flared. "What do you mean by 'Ok' again?" she demanded, her voice rising slightly.
Lucian, unperturbed by her tone, explained patiently, "I understand. She wants to break off the marriage agreement with me."
Rosia narrowed her eyes. "So, are you okay with this?"
"Yes," Lucian replied, his tone steady.
Amber leaned forward, her frustration evident. "Don't you want to ask why? You love her, right?"
"I already know," Lucian said, his voice calm and matter-of-fact.
Celine flinched, her blue eyes darting away.
Rosia frowned. "You know? Can you tell us what you know exactly?"
Lucian's gaze settled on her, his golden eyes unreadable. "She likes someone else."
The three girls froze, their expressions a mix of shock and disbelief.
"Did you spy on her?" Rosia asked, her tone sharp, her pink-hued eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"No," Lucian said flatly. "I'm not a creep. But I do have a brain."
"So you figured it out yourself?" Rosia pressed.
"It wasn't difficult," Lucian replied, his voice tinged with faint amusement. "She gave me plenty of signs."
Celine's lips trembled. "I gave you signs?" she asked softly.
Lucian nodded. "You started avoiding me. You began lying to me. We haven't been in contact much recently. There were a lot more signs."
Rosia leaned back, observing him carefully. "So you're not angry?"
Before Lucian could respond, Amber cut in, her voice sharp. "I don't care if you're angry or not. You have to agree to the annulment. You can't destroy her future!"
Lucian raised a hand, his gesture commanding silence. "Quiet down. Don't make a scene here. And I never said anything about not agreeing to it."
He turned to Celine, his gaze steady and calm. For a moment, his golden eyes bore into hers. His face betrayed no emotion—no anger, no sadness, no bitterness. Just calm acceptance.
"It's your life ,you have the right to decide who you want to be with, there is nothing wrong with it" Lucian said
Hearing this Celine's nervousness calmed down but her heart ached hearing his 'non-caring' attitude as if this matter didn't affect him.The memory of him asking for a date, inviting to dinner, sending her gifts replayed in her mind.
Rosia asked "But don't you love her? Shouldn't you try to stop her ??" With a suspicious tone .....
"There is no need to have any suspicion Miss Rosia,I don't have any intention of doing anything"
"But for your question,if I love her?,does it matter, she doesn't love me, that's what matters right and if it's about why am I not stopping her, simple,if she decided to leave me,then it means ,she wasn't mine in the first place ,and if she wasn't even mine,I have no right to stop her"Lucian said calmly....
Hearing this,Celine's heart ached more and she tried to defend herself " It's not that I never liked you ,it's just I ...
I....like someone else right now...I don't think we are compatible much...."
"You've never liked me in the past,it was just attraction,an addiction developed as we are childhood friends and now you have realized your true feelings for someone else, there is nothing wrong with it" Lucian said with same calm expression....
All three of them were looking at him with stunned expression,he was so level headed that it was shoking for them.
It doesn't even hurt him that the person he loved and cared for now likes someone else, she literally is asking for marriage annulment....
Lucian seeing there was no point in staying here ,stood up and was about to leave when Rosia asked "You are not angry at Celine for breaking her promise, the promise to always be with you,the promise to marry you ,the promise to protect you,the promise of having kids together, the promise of loving you eternally...." Staring Directly into his eyes....
This time there was ripple in his eyes, the eyes which were always calm even after hearing about his marriage annulment from the one he loves was now showing a side of reminanace, sadness and guilt.
Through there were changes in his eyes, his facial expression didn't change much,he said "That promise was made when we were children's and only an idiot would take that kind of promise seriously "
"So you are an idiot Lucian"Rosia again asked while her friends Celine and Amber were just looking at her thinking 'what has gotten into her'.....
Lucian smiled, not that kind of polite smile which he usually has but a different kind,a smile of acceptance,a smile filled his acceptance for he was about to say, like he realized he was truly a.....
"Yes"....
Then Lucian without turning back left the canteen...
