Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Battle at the Border

The first golden rays of the sun stretched across the sky, marking the dawn of a fateful day. The Avan Kingdom stood at the edge of history, its royal forces preparing for war.

The vast training grounds within the castle walls were alive with movement. Soldiers in shining armor fastened their helmets, their swords glinting under the morning light. Cannons were rolled into position, their iron mouths pointed toward the horizon. Battle horses neighed restlessly, sensing the anticipation in the air. Engineers made final checks on the kingdom's flying vessels—warships equipped with machine guns, missiles, and magical energy cannons. Above them, airships hovered in formation, their sleek designs reminiscent of Wakandan warbirds, ready to transport soldiers and rain destruction on the enemy.

In the heart of it all stood Queen Lysandra. Draped in her battle armor, her eyes burned with the fierce determination of a warrior queen. She raised her sword high, silencing the murmur of the troops.

"Today," her voice rang across the fields, "we stand as the last line of defense for our people! The Aerithians think they can break our walls, our spirits! Will we let them?"

"NO!" the soldiers roared.

"They come with weapons, with numbers—but we have something greater. We have honor. We have courage. We have each other."

A battle cry erupted from the troops, their fists pounding against their chests.

She paced before them, her gaze locking onto her warriors. "Are you ready to fight for your kingdom?"

"YES!" they bellowed in unison.

"Are you ready to show them that Avan does not fall?"

"YES!"

Lysandra smirked. "Then today, we make history!"

The soldiers erupted into cheers, their voices echoing through the kingdom.

At that moment, King Morphine stepped forward, a smirk playing on his lips. He unsheathed his sword, raising it toward the sky.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he called, his voice brimming with confidence. "Let's smash some trash."

The soldiers roared once more, their energy unshakable.

The Northern Border – The Siege Begins

Across the northern border, the Aerithian armies stood in perfect formation, their numbers stretching far beyond the horizon. Their massive cannons, sleek and metallic, glowed ominously as they locked onto the blue force-field barrier guarding Avan's kingdom.

Their commander, a tall and battle-hardened warrior, stepped forward. His piercing eyes gleamed with confidence.

"Fire!"

A deafening explosion shook the ground as ten super cannonballs streaked through the sky, colliding against the magical barrier. The force field flickered violently, its blue hue dimming under the relentless assault.

The Aerithian soldiers howled in excitement, their weapons raised in anticipation. The commander's lips curled into a grin.

"Again!" he ordered.

As the soldiers rushed to reload, a shadow loomed over themAvan's battle-airships were upon them. The sleek metallic vessels roared through the air, approaching the battlefield at breathtaking speed.

The force field wavered and then suddenly vanished, signaling the moment the Avan army had been waiting for.

The Aerithian soldiers erupted in celebration—until the first missile struck.

Boom!

The airships unleashed their payload, raining destruction upon the enemy lines. Explosions ignited the battlefield, sending soldiers flying in all directions.

"Defense!" the Aerithian commander bellowed.

His soldiers slammed their weapons into the ground in unison, summoning a massive purple dome-shaped shield that pulsed with energy.

The Avan airships' missiles collided against the barrier—but did nothing. The Aerithians stood untouched beneath their impenetrable dome.

The tables had turned.

"Destroy their air force!" the commander ordered.

Aerithian cannons and advanced RPG launchers locked onto the airships, unleashing a barrage of energy blasts and missiles.

The Avan pilots weaved and twirled through the air, dodging as best as they could—but the enemy's weapons were too precise. One by one, Avan's airships were obliterated.

From below, King Morphine, Agents Buckler and Smith, and the royal forces watched in disbelief.

"Where did they get such technology?" Morphine muttered, gripping his sword.

Agent Buckler narrowed his eyes. "I must say, they have some super sophisticated weapons."

Agent Smith swallowed hard. "Yeah… and purple shields."

Buckler turned sharply. "Did you just say purple shields?"

Smith nodded slowly. "Yeah... yeah, I hope it's not what I'm thinking."

A massive explosion erupted above them as the last Avan airship was obliterated.

Agent Buckler sighed. "Well... there goes our air force."

Agent Smith unsheathed his sword. "Guess it's time for blades and shields."

The soldiers behind them followed suit, readying their weapons.

But before they could charge—

"Wait, gentlemen."

The army turned toward the sky as Queen Lysandra descended on a one-person magic aircraft, glowing with golden energy.

She swooped across the battlefield, raining light spears down upon the Aerithians. Each projectile pierced through the purple shields and detonated in a blinding explosion.

Boom!

One by one, the Aerithian's heavy cannons and tanks were wiped from existence as Lysandra twirled and spun through the sky, a fiery storm of destruction in her wake.

The Avan royal forces erupted into cheers.

"LYSANDRA! LYSANDRA!"

But one Aerithian soldier, still standing, locked onto her with an RPG launcher.

Lysandra's eyes narrowed. She aimed her aircraft at him—then, in a split-second move, leaped off, flipping mid-air.

The aircraft streaked toward the enemy soldier—

KABOOM!

A shockwave rippled across the battlefield, engulfing the Aerithian war machines in flames.

With that, the Aerithians' sophisticated weapons were no more.

A tense silence followed.

Then—

"ATTACK!" the Aerithian commander roared.

The enemy charged past the border, their battle cries filling the air.

King Morphine raised his sword. "Let's move!"

With a final, deafening war cry, the Avan royal forces surged forward.

The battle had begun.

The castle's training grounds -Billy and Ella

Back at the castle, in a quiet corner far from the battlefield, Billy and Ella sparred in the training grounds. The sound of clashing swords rang through the air as Billy struggled to focus, his mind preoccupied with the words his mother had spoken earlier.

"Billy, you must learn to control your powers." The memory echoed in his mind. "The battlefield will test you... you may not come back."

His sword parried Ella's with a soft thud, but his movements lacked the sharpness of his usual skill.

Ella noticed his distraction, skillfully blocking his strikes with ease. "Focus, Billy," she urged.

Billy gritted his teeth, trying to shake off his unease, but his mind kept drifting back to his powers—what would happen when the battle began? Would he be strong enough to protect his people?

Ella's patience wore thin as she gracefully avoided his next swing. She stepped aside, her footwork perfect, and with a swift movement, she knocked Billy's sword from his hands.

Billy's eyes widened in surprise, but before he could react, Ella lunged at him with bare fists and feet. Her speed was unmatched, each strike calculated and precise.

Billy barely had time to block before she drove him back with a powerful kick, sending him stumbling across the training floor.

"I believe you will make a very unfocused king, Mr. Heir to the throne," Ella mocked, hands on her hips as she stood above him.

Billy blinked, shaking off his stupor. Anger surged within him. His eyes flickered from hazel to a glowing blue, his emotions igniting his latent powers.

A surge of energy erupted from him, and with a furious roar, he rose to his feet, his strength and focus returning in an instant.

"And there you are. Bring it on, little beast." Ella smirked, stepping back, her stance ready for his response.

Billy clenched his fists, his gaze fixed on her with fierce determination. Then, with an explosive roar, he charged at her, his entire being infused with blue energy.

The force of his scream sent Ella flying, her body lifted off the ground as though an invisible force had struck her. She landed hard, tumbling into the swimming pool, water splashing around her.

"Ella? Ella?" Billy's voice softened as his anger ebbed. He quickly ran toward her, his eyes returning to normal as he jumped after her.
