"Eden, you're home."
"I am" I glance around the living room that has five guys standing around while another guy is sitting on the couch opposite my dad "Who's this?"
Dad shifts uncomfortable on the couch and I immediately know somethings wrong when he won't meet my eyes. My eyes snap to the guy on the couch when he says "My name is Michael. Your father has a really big debt to settle" he leans back into the couch nonchalantly and says "He doesn't have the money to pay for it though and he doesn't want to die" he explains slowly as if I'm a child when I'm actually 16.
Ignoring everything else he said, I ask "Where's my mom?"
Dad finally speaks up "She's safe"
"That doesn't answer my question where is-"
"Shut up." I immediately shut my mouth at Michael's cold voice and he says "Your father offered you in turn to settle his debt"
My heart drops to my stomach. I glance at my dad but he's just staring at the floor with a clenched jaw. I turn back to Michael and swallow nervously before saying "There won't be need for any of that, I do have a job and I could pay off his debt"
The others guys laugh like I said the most silliest thing and Michael's lip twitch "Unless you have half a million hidden under your teddy bears then I don't think so"
My knees feel like it may buckel and I have to stop myself from dropping to the floor. I knew my dad had a gambling problem but I never thought he would sacrifice me for his own selfishness. I'm broken out of my thoughts when Michael stands up and buttons his suit jacket before nodding to one of the guys "Get her"
What?
The guy steps forward but I try to run only for another guy to catch me and I yell as he throws me over his shoulder and I hear Michael say. "Put her in the car."
"No, no, no!" I hit at the guy who's carrying me to the door "Dad! Don't let them take me!" I yell at the top of my lungs as tears stream down my face "Mom! Help me! Somebody help me!"
But no one does.
The last thing I see before they close the car door with me in it is my mom standing by the window looking at me with empty eyes.
