Synopsis
In this world, magic is nothing special. Everyone can perform magic, but not everyone is allowed to. Society has recently adapted to the existence of this mysterious system, and to use magic, or magical abilities, one must procure a magic liscence. The main character is a citizen who has failed the magic liscence test multiple times, and has decided to move to a country that doesn't have the magic liscence system. People are still very divided on how to make laws regarding magic, with some people considering it their birthright to use magic, and others fearing the consequences of this unpredictable power. His exciting journey comes to a quick halt as the world undergoes another major change: animals start to gain access to magic, and various mythical creatures come to life. The main character, stuck in a desert with his fellow adventurers, unlocks the ability of shared vision. Who is he sharing his vision with? What will happen to this world now? Should he call his parents to check if they are okay? Read the story to find out! Credits: Background: [https://unsplash.com/@guillepozzi] Cover: [https://www.youtube.com/@whiff_z]

Chapter 1 - Thrills Of A Mundane Life

Hi there!

To anyone reading this post, first of all, thank you. Your virtual recognition is probably the only one I will get throughout today. On my blog, I've always been describing the thrilling and exciting experiences that occur in my mundane life.

...Yes, you're correct. There are no thrills in a mundane life. Nothing exciting has happened since yesterday, when I received an email about my magic licence. As some of you had predicted, I have, yet again, failed to pass the exam.

I really don't understand the point of magic exams. Magic is like running: some people are naturally better at it than others. That doesn't, however, mean that anyone who can't run fast enough shouldn't run at all. Do you guys understand what I'm saying? Well, it doesn't matter anymore. I'm moving countries. I think I would feel less restrained, living in Liberté. It's literally in their name! I'm hopping on an international bus cruise, and will not be posting any more blogs until I reach the place of my dreams.

"...and I shall catch you all in the next post!"

"Done!"

I slammed the Enter key on my keyboard hard enough for it to make a concerning noise. After inspecting it for a couple of seconds and lightly tapping it's backside, I kept it back down. I was extremely excited for this new chapter in my life, and hoped that nothing would get in my way. For most of my life I've been living like a cog in a machine, only doing what I was told to do. As a child, I was told that I was 'a genius', that I was 'special', and had the 'ability to make a difference in this world'

...Lies, all of them.

I had only recently started my first job, when the world around me changed completely. For an instant, there was a light in the sky, bright enough to make me think we were being struck by a meteor. After the light, something felt weird. The best way to describe it would be opening your eyes after closing them for a really long time: it felt like I had just unlocked another sense. The people around me were pretty surprised as well, but quickly resumed their lives as if nothing happened.

"I guess that's what the stock market does to a person."

A few hours went by, and people started to exhibit symptoms of what is now known to be mana sickness. All these employees, working themselves to death in this harsh environment, had subconsciously used magic to recover their fatigue. Their bodies instinctively knew how to use this power, but did not realise what would happen when too much of it was used. I wasn't much different from the others, but at least my symptoms weren't as severe. Similar incidents occurred all over the world, and I made it my personal duty to cover all these incidents to the best of my ability. The world was a crazy place for a few days, with countries rushing to make new policies and doctors trying to figure out the cause of the mysterious 'disease'. You would think I'm exaggerating, but if anything, I'm understating the impact Magic had on this world.

I kept reading my blogs from the 'day of first light', looking for something that would convince me to not go on this journey. The more I read, however, the stronger my resolve became. I called my parents to let them know about my plans.

"...."

"...."

*beep* *beep* *beep*

"It's fine. They must be busy.."

I stood in silence for what felt like an eternity. Various emotions welled up in my chest, but this was not the time. I took a deep breath and held it in. Using magic, I tried to cleanse my body of these emotions, following the flow of mana from my lungs to my heart, and then the rest of my body.

"I need to do something that will shift my mind."

"Let's pack my bags."

#Author's notes

Hello reader! This is the first chapter of 'The First Tamer's Journey'. This is my very first novel, but I would like it if you held me to the same standards as you would most other accomplished authors.

The first arc of the story is quite slow, which would probably be a turnoff for most readers who are looking for some action. However, I feel like it is necessary to give you, the reader, enough time to go through the intricacies of the world that I have made before I put my foot on the pedal.

Thank you all for choosing to read my story, and I hope to see you in the next chapter!
