Chapter 5: Killing the bandits
Lucien, seeing that a man was dragging Freya from the hut, felt a surge of anger. When he heard the words of the bandits, and it seemed to be their leader, his anger intensified. He knew that these people were heinous criminals, and he decided he needed to kill them.
Even though it was his first time killing people, he exhaled deeply, his heart pounding in his chest. He was nervous, but he gathered his courage.
He created an ice beast, he planned to kill all these bandits, to wipe them from the face of the earth. Even though he didn't know the strength of the bandits, he needed to try. Freya was already his wife, and they already have a child.
The man who was dragging Freya was about to grab her chest, his hand reaching for her, his eyes gleaming with lust. But Lucien didn't allow it. He ordered the ice beast to kill the man immediately.
The ice beast created an ice shard in its mouth, as large as a knife, and aimed it at the bandit's head. It launched the shard with a speed that was almost impossible to perceive.
Benny, who was about to grab the girl's chest, felt an ominous feeling, a sense of impending doom.
Before he could react, he felt his head was pierced by a cold, sharp object. He looked in the direction where the object came from, but all he saw was a beast like a tiger made of ice and a young man with silver hair looking at him coldly.
Then, he lost consciousness. His body dropped to the ground, his head crumbling into ice fragments.
Everyone was shocked by the sudden event. Either Freya, the villagers, or the bandits. They didn't expect such a thing to happen.
"How dare you kill Benny!"
Everyone woke up from the shout. The one who shouted was Agu, one of the bandit leader's lackeys. His face was contorted with rage, his eyes blazing with fury. He had been close to Benny, a friend, and he was enraged by his sudden, brutal death.
Lucien looked at him coldly, his eyes filled with a chilling indifference. He didn't answer, instead, he ordered the ice beast to kill him.
The ice beast created another ice shard. With a whoosh, it embedded itself in the bandit's head, a cold, sharp point piercing his skull.
Agu couldn't believe it. He had been dreaming of a life of luxury and pleasure, a life where he could indulge in his darkest desires. He had never expected he would die here, in a small village that he looked down on.
With a bang, Agu collapsed to the ground, his head crumbling into ice fragments. Silence returned, heavier, oppressive, a silence filled with the echoes of death.
"Kill them all," Lucien ordered, his voice cold and unwavering. He felt no remorse, no hesitation.
The Ice Beast, charged towards the bandits. It moved with a speed that was almost impossible to perceive.
"It's a Mage, a court Mage!" one of the bandits shouted with fear, his voice trembling. He had heard tales of court Mages, powerful magic wielders who served the king, who could unleash devastating spells. He thought Lucien was one of them.
"Lucien, however, was not a court Mage."
He walked towards Freya, who was still on the ground, paralyzed by fear. He created another Ice Beast to protect himself and Freya.
"Are you alright?" Lucien asked, his voice filled with concern.
"Ah... I... I'm fine," Freya responded, her voice still trembling. She looked at him with a flicker of admiration in her blue eyes.
The Ice Beast started killing, with a swipe of its claw, a bandit's body was cut in half. With a bite, another bandit's body was torn apart. The screams of panic echoed through the village, a chorus of fear and despair.
Its speed was fast, even the bandit leader, Beru, couldn't even see it clearly. He had never seen a mage with such power, such control. He was terrified. He decided to run away.
The bandits, who had been so bold, so confident, were now filled with fear. They had seen their companions die one after another, their bodies mangled and frozen.
Some of the bandits, seeing their comrades fall, tried to use the villagers as hostages. But Lucien didn't allow it. The Ice Beast on his side, kept shooting Ice shards, killing any bandit who dared to go near the villagers.
"Come behind me!" Lucien shouted to the villagers, his voice filled with urgency. The villagers, still trembling with fear, obeyed and ran behind Lucien.
Seeing that everyone was safe, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Since the bandits nearby were already dead, Lucien ordered the other Ice Beast beside him to join the massacre.
If there were other bandits, he just needed to create another Ice Beast.
Not even a minute had passed when Lucien started the killing.
With the joint effort of the two Ice Beasts, from more than 30 bandits, only five were left, and they were the first to run, their leader leading the charge.
But Lucien didn't allow them to escape. With the speed of the Ice Beast, he reached the five bandits who were escaping.
The beast aimed at their leader, using the Ice shards, but the bandit leader, seeing his own death approaching, used his subordinates' bodies to take the blow. Died with hatred in his eyes.
Soon, the two Ice Beasts, with their swift speed, caught up with the bandits, tearing apart the bandits together with their horses.
At a distance of 50 to 70 meters away, Lucien could still see the bandits. So, he ordered the Ice Beast to kill the bandit leader immediately. He knew that he was running out of time, his mana was diminishing, his power waning. He felt that he could only last for 10 seconds.
The Ice Beast positioned themselves at the back and front of the bandit leader, created an Ice shard, and fired. The bandit, with his 7-star Beginner Knight cultivation, dodged one of the Ice shards and the other, using his Low Grade 1-star Sword, deflected it away from him. He stepped backward from the force, his hands trembling and numb.
