" I'm not here for you, I came to apologize to him," Pearl said firmly.
" Gosh! You're so rude; how would you speak to your boss in that manner and tone? Catherine did a bad job raising you, honestly, because you're nothing like her; you're just the direct opposite of her; just imagine the way you're speaking to your boss. Even your mum wouldn't speak to him like this. Honestly, at this point, those who said an apple doesn't fall far from the tree, are wrong because how do we explain this?" Williams said, shaking his head.
" I don't understand why everyone expects me to be like my mum; I should be like her so that your type can ridicule and oppress me. Never! Yes, she's my biological mum, but I can never be like her; she's Catherine, and I'm Pearl; the earlier you all realise that, the better for you. I came to say sorry for transferring my aggression to you. Believe me, I'm not always like that, I wasn't just in a good mood earlier. I had to come back to apologize because my conscience wouldn't be at peace if I didn't apologize to you. I'm so sorry." Pearl said calmly.
" So you have a conscience? Wow! That's good. Honestly, I never knew you had a conscience." Luca said sarcastically.
" Dude, c'mon she's here to apologize, don't make it hard for her. You know that it took a lot of courage for her to come back, and do this. And I must confess, I'm impressed. Miss, it's fine; I've forgiven you; I have nothing against you anymore. Why are you the one here? Where's your mom?" Williams asked.
" My mum had an accident two days ago, on her way from work. So I'm here to stand in for her till she gets better. Thank you for forgiving me." Pearl said softly.
" Accident? Dude, is that true?" Williams asked Luca, looking surprised.
" Yeah....." Luca said faintly.
" And you're just telling me? I'm so disappointed at you, guy." Williams said to him.
" I don't get it. Was I supposed to tell you? I don't understand. Is that important information? So I should call you because a cleaner had an accident. Guy, please I got better things to do with my time." Luca said and looked away.
" Really? Which means you haven't gone to visit her at the hospital." Williams said.
" What! I, Luca Johnson, visited a common cleaner in the hospital just because she had a mere accident. Are you kidding me?" Luca asked, looking irritated as he spoke.
" Wow! A common cleaner? A mere accident? It's fine; I only come to apologize; I'll be on my way now; thanks for forgiving me." Pearl said and left the house.
" Dude, I'm disappointed in you. How could you say that? Ain't you got no conscience at all? How can you be this mean, and condescending? C'mon, it doesn't suit you, gosh!" Williams said and sat on the couch.
" I said what I said, and I don't feel bad about it. That girl is rude; she had said the worst things to me today, so I'm taking my words back..... Guy, let me go and freshen up; I'll be with you shortly." Luca said and headed upstairs.
" You finally met your match," Williams said after him, at the top of his voice.
Soon, Luca was done freshening up, he came downstairs to join Williams in the game he was playing;
" There's something special about that girl." He said as he picked up the pad to play the game.
" Special? Like how, I don't understand." Williams said, looking confused.
" Would you believe that she helped me with my tie this morning?" He said, focusing on the game.
" She did what? Guy, you will never let any domestic staff touch or come close to you, not to talk of helping with your tie. Dude, what has she done to you? Wow! I'm shocked." Williams said, looking surprised.
" You see why I said she's special like I'm comfortable around her; what if I told her that she and I had a little chit chat this morning, I asked about her dad, and she told me her story," Luca said, still concentrating on the game.
" Unbelievable! You asked a cleaner about her story. Guy, you're in love with this girl." Williams said, and chuckled.
" You're not serious, have you forgotten that I'm in a serious relationship?" Luca asked, looking at him this time.
" With who? That bad influence? Please say something else." Williams said and looked away.
" Guy, c'mon that's my girl you're talking about. I know you like her, but news flash, she'll forever be in your face; you'll always see her around." Luca said firmly.
" Guy, you know within yourself that that girl is a bad influence like she squanders your money at every given opportunity; she's ill-mannered. Is that the kind of girl you want to spend your forever with?" Williams asked, looking concerned.
" Well, she's who I want, and there's nothing anyone can do about it," Luca said firmly.
" Fine! I hope and pray this new lady wins your heart so that you can forget Beatrice because that lady isn't good for you." Williams said, focusing on the game.
" Have you lost it? How could think so low of me? In your wildest dreams, will I end up with my cleaner? So because I said she's special, you think I'll stoop low to date her, never! Even if I end up developing feelings for her, I'll fight it hard. Have you forgotten who my dad is? Do you think my parents will sit and watch their son settle down with a cleaner? Even me, I can't date her, she stinks of poverty, gosh!" Luca said firmly.
" If that's what you say to yourself to sleep at night, who am I to stop you from having a good sleep," Williams said, and they both laughed.
" But honestly, you need to go visit her mum at the hospital; I can come with you if you want," Williams said calmly.
" Go to hospital and do what? So that she can think that she's important and special? Nah, I'll do no such thing." Luca said firmly.
" Fine! I won't argue with you, let's continue with the game." Williams said, and he focused on the game.
" Better!" Luca said, rolling his eyes.
At the hospital, Pearl barged into her mother's ward room looking so furious, Catherine who was watching TV before barged, and noticed the look on her face;
" Trouble at work again, right? But I thought you said he was cool with you this morning, or were you daydreaming?" Catherine asked and chuckled.
" Mum, how do you cope with that spoilt brat?" Pearl asked, furiously.
" Well, he's my boss, so I have no choice. You haven't answered my question, were you daydreaming when you said he was cool with you this morning?" Catherine asked, looking serious this time.
" No mum, I wasn't. He was cool with me this morning, only for him to come back from work this evening and start an episode of drama." Pearl said as she sat on the chair beside Catherine.
" What did you do that triggered that?" Catherine asked sharply.
" Mum? What are you saying? Are you trying to say I'm at fault here?" Pearl asked, looking disappointed.
" Did you hear me say that? I only asked a question; I know my boss so well that I know something must have triggered that episode. So tell me, what did you do, or say to him?" Catherine asked softly.
" Mum, I didn't do anything to him. His assistant came earlier this morning shortly after he left for work; I refused to let her in; I wanted her to call him so that I could confirm that he was the one who sent her to the house, but he didn't pick up her calls. So I had to follow her to the bedroom so that nothing would go missing because I didn't want to get implicated. I don't know what she told him when she got to the office, but he was mad at me." Pearl explained.
" Oh, I see; you did the right thing, though. It's fine, darling, stop beating yourself up because of that. You were only doing your job as the housekeeper, though he sees us as cleaners." Catherine asked and shook her head.
" That guy is mean and condescending. Would you believe that I transferred the aggression to a guy?" Pearl said, rolling her eyes.
" Which guy? Please don't say it's Williams. Catherine said, shaking her head.
" Do you know him?" Pearl asked.
" Why won't I know him, that Luca's best friend, and he's such a nice guy. He's Luca's opposite." Catherine said, chuckling.
" Sure, he is, I can affirm that. I wonder how he became friends with that guy, they're two different people." Pearl said, rolling her eyes.
" I know, right? Thank you. Your heart has softened; the doctor wants to see you." Catherine said sharply.
" Really? Did he tell you why?" Pearl asked, looking anxious.
" Calm down, Pearl, he didn't tell me anything, but I believe that it's nothing serious. Just go meet him in his office." Catherine said softly.
" Ok, Mum, I'll be right back," Pearl said and hurriedly left the room.
