"What . . . ?
What am I supposed to do?"
Lyon was confused for a moment when he read the mission. He doesn't really hate the protagonist, but to antagonize him isn't something for no reason isn't something he would like to do.
Moreover, what's he supposed to do? He can't beat him. Not only did that guy have a cheat with all attribute affinity, more importantly, he has a protector who is powerful enough to know the past, the present and the future. He probably already knows about Lyon and what he might be doing.
Why am I not dead yet?
Lyon waited for a while, accepting his predetermined fate. But nothing happened. He didn't feel anything regarding it.
What happened? Could there be some problem with him killing me? Could that guy have done something to keep me safe?
Lyon thought hard but couldn't find the reason for it. There is no reason for that God not to kill him. Lyon doesn't believe that the world would be in the same merry tone as shown in the series.
Heck, Touya's isekai might be a plan made by the God for his own purposes. Uh . . . No!
Lyon snapped back before going any deeper in thinking. Because, does it even matter? He can't oppose Raj, nor can he oppose the God, and he is sure he cannot fight against Touya, at least with how he is now.
I need to find out what the current situation is.
Lyon walked to the small town where he decided to stay and gather some information first. The adventurers that dropped him near the fields told him about the places nearby. He is currently in an empire called The Regulus Empire, and the town he is about to enter is a border town named Tefler that is heavily reinforced in order to guard against some nation called Yulong.
The worst part for him is that he has no identity in the world, and he doesn't know much about the geography of this world.
I mean, who would remember about world building in a casual anime. I would have remembered it if it were One Piece, or Naruto, or some other story driven anime which actually requires the viewers to keep track of all the things that are happening.
Lyon needs to find a way to convince the guards stationed outside the town that he is a traveler who has lost his identification card. Good thing the world isn't as developed as the last one, or else it would be impossible for him to explain his identity a few minutes after arriving in the world.
But the problem is, Lyon didn't know the names of the places in this world. He remembers many characters and about the Duchy of the protagonist and that there are different nations including one in the east similar to Japan, but he doesn't know their names.
I feel like I am forgetting something
After thinking hard, he realized that there is a cheat on him that is extremely suitable for him to gather information.
Why didn't I think of this?
Lyon started to test the mobile in his hand for the features it has. His smartphone is similar to Touya's smartphone, but just shi**ier.
He can only use the simulator function from it and nothing else. To use any other function of his phone, he needs to charge it.
"Oh yeah~. I hope there are chargers available in this town . . . Who am I kidding . . ."
Lyon shoved the issue to the back of his mind and decided to think about it after he gained a foothold in this world first. He then started to see the features of the Simulator first, more importantly the price it takes to simulate once.
"Hmm~?, It's free? No, not free. It takes some mental energy to simulate the length of the simulation depending on my mental strength. Neat. But what are the loopholes?"
Lyon didn't believe that Raj would give him anything good without a catch. But after thinking hard for a while, he still couldn't figure out what it could be, so he decided to try it out first and then see what would happen first.
Lyon clicked on the [Start Simulation] and some text started to appear in front of him.
[Day 1: You decided to try to explain to the guards that you had a memory loss and couldn't recover your memory after falling into a lake. After walking to the gate, you told the guards your made up story. The guards were dubious of your reason and went to inform their captain.]
[Walking in, they made you wait for a while in the reception area while they went to call the captain, and while you were waiting, a receptionist came towards you to note down your details]
[You tell her that you forgot almost everything and could barely remember how to speak. The receptionist started to cry listening to your sad story and lamented your cruel fate. She took you in your arms and comforted you, which although you didn't want to admit, you enjoyed a lot.]
"I mean . . . He's not me, so it doesn't matter, I guess"
Lyon could only express his helplessness regarding what had happened in the simulator. He is sure that whatever is being shown in the simulator is not about himself, but he does agree that he is slightly jealous of himself.
It's not real, It's not real . . .
[Just as you were thinking of the names of your children, the adventurer group leader who saved you from the lake spotted you and called you out "Lyon~!"]
". . ."
Lyon looked at the simulator and could only wonder how bad his luck was. He learned from the adventurer that their group would only go into the town when they have done their daily routine. It is also the reason why Lyon was dropped outside the town close to it, since the adventurers were busy. He couldn't believe that this man just so happened to arrive at that moment.
[The receptionist who heard the call looked around to help the adventurer find the person he was looking for, only to realize that there wasn't any other person who was present around them. She instantly understood something and looked at you profusely sweating, with a cold expression.]
[The guard captain who happened to see this scene upon arrival instantly understood the scenario and immediately ordered your arrest. Knowing that your chance of escape is zero, you decisively surrendered and were locked in the prison.]
Looking at the simulator, Lyon doesn't even know what to say at this point. He could only think of what to do in the next simulation.
[Day 2: It turns out that the receptionist is a close relative of the captain, so you received extra 'care' from the guards. Hungry and thirsty from lack of food and water, you could only wait in the prison while you think of a way to escape.]
[While staying in prison, you found a kindred spirit who also claimed to have been captured for unjust reasons, though he wouldn't tell you what it was.]
[Looking at your status, he decided to share some of his food and water with you.]
[Although he got taken out and beat up for it, he told you that he doesn't regret it, and that you shouldn't feel guilty for him.]
[This care moved you to the core and you quickly became friends with him. You also learned his story.]
[It turns out this man came from the Kingdom of Belfast, and he was accused of crime by a noble over there. Knowing that he couldn't clear his name, he ran away, escaping from the Kingdom and fled to the empire. He originally wanted to escape to the chaotic Yulong region but he was captured because he tried to help someone he shouldn't.]
[After hearing the story, you quickly express your stance and promise him that you will always help him, and that you both would look after each other while in prison.]
[After that, both of you chatted about many things and you learned about the nearby nations. From all the information, you soon found out some key information you were looking for. The Kingdom of Belfast is where the plot starts and the Regulus Empire is where the Green haired heroine ails from. The Yulong region is based on China with hints of other cultures mixed in.]
[And the Japan country is called the Divine Nation of Eashen. The town they were in is on high alert because of some event, so they are much stricter regarding the entry and exit.]
[And the most crucial information that he had acquired is that the princess of Belfast is 13 years old this year, and there is more than a year before the plot begins]
"NEAT!!!"
Lyon was ecstatic reading that last line. More than a year might be small to many, but he has a simulator. Everything is instantaneous to him . . . f**k. He doesn't have rewards after simulation.
"Well, at least I can train for a while and plan things out. There are still too many uncertainties for me to think about."
While Lyon thought hard about what to do from the information he just received, the simulator continued to show the next simulated text.
[After getting to know each other better, the both of you discussed life after being released from jail. The convict, Jeff, shakes his head and tells you that the noble might not be willing to let him go. Jeff also gave you many ideas on how to earn money, but you were too focused on thinking about how to help Jeff in his situation and missed most of the topics he said.]
[It's not that you think his knowledge is worthless but you believe that as a transmigrator, only the greatest of the jobs are worthy of you.]
"It doesn't hurt to listen to the advice, though . . . "
Lyon got increasingly worried about his future because the simulator only showed him the worst of his behaviour.
[Day 3: Having talked to each other through the night, you slept soundly until Midday. Jeff pleaded with the guards for you, saying that you weren't used to the new environment and that you would get used to it soon.]
[You were woken up by the guards at Midday and they informed you that the captain wants to talk to you.]
[You quickly freshen up yourself and make your way to the captain's cabin accompanied by the guards. Inside the office, the captain was speaking respectfully to another middle aged man who looks like an inbred between a pig and a monkey.]
[This is your first time seeing a beast human, and you were very excited. Your excitement stunned the two people sitting inside. The captain asked you what the reason was for your excitement and you replied about your true feelings without thinking much about it.]
[The office suddenly turned quiet, making you confused. The middle aged fat man just smiled and asked the captain, "Is he the one?" to which the captain replied "Yes"]
[The man just looked at you and licked his lips and ordered the guards to get you aboard the carriage. Despite your apologies and resistance, the guards pulled you onto the carriage.]
[Looking at your pitiful expression, the guard to your left comforted you by saying that you will be tried in the capital for a reason he cannot say, but if you were found innocent, then you would be free.]
[Although it wasn't much better, you still thanked the guard for his kindness. Although you would be proved innocent, if some people were willing, you would be proved guilty. Moreover, it turns out that the fat man was actually a normal human, and what you said to him is still considered a crime.]
[Day 5: As you get closer to the capital, the desolate your heart feels. You tried to escape, and although your body was changed into a younger and more athletic self, you still were no match for the professionally trained guards.]
[Just as you were hopeless about the situation, bandits attacked your caravan. Looking at the situation, you knew that it would only be a matter of time before the knights defeat the bandits, so you ran headfirst away from both the bandits and the knights shouting, "Thank you for the treasure". The bandits, hearing this, immediately caught up with you and beheaded you. You also realized that the first time you die in both worlds, it would be something you were looking forward to.]
[You are dead]
Looking at the panel, even Lyon was thankful for this ending. He really didn't want to know what that fat bastard was planning for him.
"Although it might seem as if this simulation was not very useful because I barely survived for 4 days, the information I received from it is very useful to me at this stage."
Lyon decided to take things a different way and Simulated again.
[Day 1: You contemplated on how to solve your current situation. After thinking about it for a while, you thought of an Idea and went to visit the Guards. After arriving near the gate of the town, you explain to the guards that you were previously a citizen of the Kingdom of Belfast during your childhood, and were kidnapped by someone and sold to the region of Yulong, where you lived the life of a refugee.]
[You were bought by an evil man who made you beg for money on the streets. Three years ago, some kind man passing by decided to adopt you. Until very recently, you had lived a peaceful life but unfortunately the man was robbed by a gang of thieves, and your former boss wanted to take you under his wing again.]
[Desperate to keep this simpler life, you ran for your life and barely escaped, falling into a lake.]
[Listening to your story, although they were suspicious of you, they decided to let you in and let the captain decide. You met the receptionist who was again very sad about your story and hugged you, and the adventurer who saved you failed to disturb your enjoyment this time.]
[The captain walked out at this moment and asked you for a detailed story of whatever you have said to the soldiers. After hearing your story, the captain was moved to tears and promised you that if he had a chance, he would definitely kill your made-up boss.]
[He then asked you to leave the area and wait for him in his office where he will give you your new papers of identification. Hearing his words, you sighed internally, feeling relieved, and followed the guards.]
[Just as you left the room, you felt a sharp pain in your mind and you fell unconscious. The last thing you remember were the guards shaking you, trying to wake you up]
[Day 5: You woke up groggily from your sleep and find yourself in a moving carriage bound by chains. You didn't panic because of the unexpected scene but asked the guard about the current situation. It turns out that the captain received information from the Viscount that there was a spy from the Yulong region who will try to sneak into the Tefler town, and after your capture 4 days ago, someone snitched that it was you.]
[Dumbfounded by the sudden charges on your head, you try to think of any person who would want to harm you, but you couldn't find anyone who would do that. Because no one even knew about you at that point, and that adventurer group has no reason to blame you.]
[You tried your best to reason with the guard knight that it wasn't you, and that you want a chance to prove that you are innocent, but they were adamant about it being you, leaving you no choice. However, it made you feel that something was off regarding this whole incident.]
[Day 7: You were brought to the courtroom for your trail. There was nothing you could do about your charges. For some reason, there were many voices that were against you, and your crimes as stated by them are also outrageous, because there is a possibility that you could commit crimes in the future, making you feel more and more that there is a problem with this incident.]
[You looked at all the aging king and found that he was thinking hard on the matter. The ministers who were shouting about your possible crimes if you were left alone didn't even take a glance at you, since to them, you were not worth noticing. It also made the situation clearer for you that someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes.]
[You looked around the courtroom and found the person looking at you with a different gaze than the others. Although you didn't know him, you instantly recognized him. Because he looked like a hybrid between a pig and a monkey.]
[You don't know why he was targeting you, and you don't think both of you had any interactions in this simulation, but you know what he wants and you are determined not to let it happen.]
[You shout at the top of your Lungs to Shut Up. You identify yourself and admit that you were indeed the Spy sent by the Yulong region and you tell the King straight to his face that your mission is to kidnap and court Princess Lucia, and if it wasn't possible, then to kill her.]
[The King, enraged by your declaration, immediately orders your execution out of rage. As the spears pierced your body, you think of all that has happened in the past 2 simulations and think that there is still a missing piece for you to realize.]
[You are dead.]
Wtf? . . . Seriously, Wtf?
Lyon really couldn't understand what exactly was happening in this scenario. But he knew that whatever his simulated self has realized at the end of the second simulation was true, there are still missing pieces that he doesn't know.
However, he needs to simulate more to know what exactly was the truth behind all this. He is sure that there is someone inside the town right now who is the real spy or an accomplice of the spy, and he wants Lyon to be the one to take his blame.
The fat bastard could be an accomplice too, but there isn't enough evidence against him, even for Lyon who simulated twice. Just when Lyon wanted to simulate again, he almost lost his balance and was about to fall face first on the ground.
Lyon realized that this might be the indication that he has reached the limit of what he could simulate for now. So Lyon decided to take some rest under the tree not far away.
Because the place he is in is close to the town, there weren't any monsters around here. More importantly, he knows that he cannot do this alone, because no matter what cover story he makes, they will suspect it, and they will imprison him, which will result in the real criminal snitching him out.
Which means the best way to break this situation without having any simulation opportunities is with some support, and he knows someone who will most definitely pass by very soon who could help him.
