We never lit a light since according to Ither it would attract strong monsters once we got near the wall, so we tried to stay on the road but at some point we had apparently got off course, but we eventually found the walls and just walked till we got to a gate.
"Open up, its Ither" The gates quickly opened "How was your visit outside the walls, Lord Ither" The guard bowed "And who might your guest be" Ither nudged me "Im Ezra" the guard was still bowing "So we need to get to the Capital, I would like to start his training as soon as possible" the guards eyes were wide "Congratulations on finding a student, Lord Ither" he nodded and then said "Well do you have a horse or buggy at this outpost" the guard who greeted us nodded "Well we will take it to the capital and have someone bring it back" the guards lifted their heads "we can send one of ours with you" Ither shrugged "Thats fine too".
and so we started our journey to the capital "Why did you help me Kid?" I shrugged "the right thing to do Old Man" he Wrinkled his nose "I'm not that Old only about 236, which is quite young" I laughed "Yep old" he shook his head "Anway thanks I guess" I nodded "Anyway I'm tired" he nodded "me to" I laid against the window and looked at the surroundings slowly my eyes grew heavy and I drifted off to sleep.
I dreamed of standing on top of burning buildings, the fires raged and children screamed for their parents, I was fucked up in the head I guessed.
the reason I had even woken up was because Ither was shaking me awake because we were at His mansion.
"Welcome to your new home" I got out of the buggy and staired in awe my jaw was almost hitting the ground, the sun shined on it at just the right angle and it was hard to explain how it made me feel "Beautiful isn't it, had to bring in Dwarves to build it and a few humans to Help engineer it" I nodded "it is beautiful" he motioned for me to follow, once we got in a maid was waiting next to the door "Get Ezra some new clothes, I need 2 sets of each of the following" He took and breath and she nodded "He will need some formal wear, sleep clothes, standard wear and training clothes, they need to be flexible but also provide higher then average Defense against the elements, I belive Dragon hide or emerald cow hide should do perfectly" she nodded and immedialty left "Well keep following me" he walked up the main set of stairs, there was a red carpet and gold on the Handrails, along with what I think to be the last few generations of kings painted and set against the wall going up one side and the queens were on the other, he walked to a room that was close to the stairs and opened the door "This will be your room for the foreseeable future" I nodded "Thank you" this was the first act of kindness I felt, he patted my head "Dont cry, cant have you getting soft yet" I breathed in "So if you need anything else just find a maid and ask, ill have a maid assigned to you tomorrow"
I stepped into the room and Ither closed the door "Get a shower you truly stink, take your time so the Maids can get you the proper sized clothes" I sighed "yea ill clean myself properly" I looked around and saw 2 other doors, and the one closest to the wall was a stunning walk-in closet, the hangers were made of silver and the floor was this beautiful red stained wood, the outside of the closest was even more stunning, I felt unworthy of these things that I had once taken for granted in my last life, but I guess that is what happens when you lived in an abusive family for 6 years.
i opened the bathroom door and there were the normal things like a toilet a shower/bath and a sink, I closed the door behind me and striped of the clothes I had worn for days and stepped into the shower I looked for some type of button or something, but there was a little stone square that looked like it turned, so I turned it and at first Freezing cold water spewed out and at about he half way point it turned warm, and it felt like heaven, something that was once a granted was now the pinnacle of my life currently, just the change from cold baths to now warm baths made all the difference, I rinsed off and enjoyed the warmth that I had been lacking.
i stepped out and found a towel hanging and a few other things in a cubby, such as a come and other random items, I was going to use the come but my hair fought like hell to not move so I gave up and just dryed myself and then I put the towel around myself and walked into the main bedroom, the maid had just entered and was setting the clothes neatly on my bed, show noticed me and was about to smile until she saw my chest was full of scars, she refocused on her task of putting the clothes neatly on the bed and hurriedly left.
i walked over to the bed and found a few sets of clothes, there were some suits of different colors along with some nice looking sleep clothes but I chose the black pants with a white t-shirt, I opened the door and went and found the nearest maid "Where is Master Ither" she nodded and smiled and led me to a central garden "He will be at the center area" something was off with the maids they weren't elves but they weren't humans either, I thanked the maid and made my way to the center and found Ither just as the maid had said I would, he was sitting on a stone bench "You look a lot better Ezra" I nodded in agreement "And you look sad" he nodded "That obvious" he looked down at the ground for a moment "Anyway onto the next topic, you will be meeting the king and the queen tomorrow, do you understand that" I nodded " I need you to wear the formal clothes the maids brought you including the shoes" I sighed, I hated wearing shoes "ok" I sat down in the grass "Anything else I should know" he shook his head "Act right and that it" I stood up and as I walked away Ither said "Also don't let them see the scars, them and the Maids" I scratched my head "One already saw them" he sighed "well just don't tell the king and queen" I nodded and walked back into the house and the maid who had shown me the way there was waiting "Is there a library here?" she nodded and led me to a massive library "thank you" I entered and started looking for books on magic, I found one and took it with me back to my room to read.
