Mia stood there, arms crossed, her eyes narrowing. "Lila, where the hell have you been?"
Lila barely registered the question.
Her mind was still spinning, replaying the horrifying scene over and over again—the lifeless woman in Adrian's arms, his fangs sinking deep, the way his eyes had glowed in the dim light.
A shiver crawled down her spine.
Mia's irritation quickly turned to concern. She stepped closer, scanning Lila's pale face, the distant look in her eyes. "You look awful. Are you sick?"
Lila wanted to answer. She really did.
But how could she?
How could she even begin to explain that she had just seen Adrian feed on someone? That he had teleported her home like it was nothing?
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
Mia's frown deepened. "Lila?"
Lila shook her head, barely aware of her own movements. She needed to get away, to be alone, to think.
