Chapter 13 - The Dark Ocean and the Flame Temple

Xiao Yan's journey took him across an expansive, treacherous sea. This ocean was infamous for its sudden, ferocious storms, waves capable of obliterating ships in an instant, and the terrifying creatures lurking in its depths. But beyond its natural perils, the sea was known for concealing countless uncharted islands, including the fabled Isle of the Eternal Flame.

Riding a small, hand-crafted boat constructed with the aid of tools from a renowned alchemist, Xiao Yan pressed forward. He understood the immense risks involved, but there was no other path. His determination was resolute—retreat was not an option.

A few days into his voyage, a fierce storm arose without warning, battering the boat with relentless force. Clinging tightly to the mast, Xiao Yan braced against the violent surges that shook his vessel. The darkened sky above seemed to split asunder, a testament to the raw power of nature.

Suddenly, a streak of crimson light tore through the heavens, striking the boat with overwhelming intensity. Xiao Yan instantly realized this was no ordinary storm. A force darker and more powerful controlled these waters, seemingly testing him from a realm beyond.

Quickly, he called upon the remnants of his Flame King power to shield himself from the fiery explosion descending from the sky. Scarlet flames enveloped his body, warding off the elemental onslaught. With a swift motion, he dove into the ocean, avoiding the growing tempest by harnessing the last vestiges of his strength.

Yet, as he plunged into the water, the unexpected occurred. A massive hand emerged from the ocean's depths, reaching for Xiao Yan and pulling him into the shadowy abyss.

Struggling desperately against the unseen foe, Xiao Yan felt his strength waning. Just when all seemed lost, the Flame King's fire within him flared to life, radiating a brilliant light that startled the sea creature. The hand released him, and he surged back to the surface, gasping for air.

Though he had survived, Xiao Yan knew this was only the beginning. Something immensely powerful and unfathomably dark had taken notice of him. From this moment on, he would need to tread with even greater caution.
