Chereads / Mr. Arley's Woman / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Jayde stood up and took Livia with both hands.

"Jayde, I'm afraid something happened with my babies," Livia worried. Her forehead wrinkled, holding back the pain.

"Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you."

"Where are you taking me, Jayde? You can't take me to the hospital—"

"My friend is waiting in the private room. Maybe he can ease your pain," Jayde explained as he made his way past several people.

Just as Jayde was about to open the door, someone opened it first.

"Jayde, who is she?" the man asked.

"She's my sister, Livia Rylee," Jayde replied as he led Livia into the classic but elegant room. There were two couches facing each other with a table as a separator. He then laid Livia down on the couch.

"Zayn, please help my sister. She is pregnant, and now she's in pain," he continued anxiously.

"Well, I'll check her first," the tall man said as he picked up the medical bag he always brought everywhere.

"Are you a doctor?" Livia asked when she saw the man skillfully taking what was needed.

"Yes," Zayn replied in his deep voice. He then transfers the liquid in the vial into the syringe.

"Take it easy. It's safe for your fetus. It will ease your pain," he continued as if he knew Livia's worries. He sat on the edge of the couch to make it easier for him to inject the liquid into her veins.

As the drugs infused her, Livia felt the pain in her stomach slowly eased.

"My babies will be fine, right?" Livia asked. She held Zayn's wrist, who was examining Livia's abdomen with a stethoscope. Although she was a doctor, she couldn't examine herself and needed someone to examine her.

"Did you fall? Or something has happened to you until your stomach cramps?" Zayn asked to confirm.

Livia could not get the opportunity to open her mouth because Jayde had spoken first, "She didn't fall. But she just divorced her husband because he slept with another woman. Is it possible that it can trigger her pain?"

One corner of Livia's lips twitched. Since when did her brother speak out frankly like that?

Zayn, who had listened to Jayde, now turned to look at Livia and said, "Which man has hurt a woman as beautiful as you? I am sure he will regret it."

"Don't tease my sister!" Jayde annoyed. "I let you come with me because I need your computer skills as a backup, not to tease my sister."

"I didn't tease her. That's a fact. When you said that you had a beautiful sister, I didn't believe it. But now, I do."

"Em, excuse me. What about the babies in my belly?" Livia was indeed at a loss for words when she heard that. But now, she just wanted to know the condition of her fetus.

"Don't worry, as long as you are not bleeding, you don't need to go to the hospital. Even so, you'll have to rest for at least an hour to get your stomach through another contraction. You are in your early trimester, so you have to be careful. One more thing, as long as you don't think about things that stress you out, your womb will be fine," he explained in a calm voice.

"By the way, who is the man who has betrayed you?" Zayn continued.

Livia didn't know what to answer and could only blink her eyes when Jayde pulled Zayn away from her.

"Don't bother my sister. You can tease anyone, but not my sister. Besides, it doesn't matter who her ex is, so let's not talk about him anymore. I can feel my blood pressure rise when talking about him. How about you help me on our flight tonight? Because Livia will come with us," Jayde asked.

Zayn fell silent for a moment when he heard that, then responded with a big smile on her face, "Of course. I will gladly help you, especially your beautiful sister. I would even be by her side during the flight to make sure Ms. Rylee doesn't have stomach cramps again, surely if Ms. Rylee wouldn't mind."

Livia indeed had no other choice and could only nod in agreement.

When Zayn left the room, Jayde sat next to Livia, who was lying on the couch.

"Your friend and you are the same. So weird," Livia pouted.

"Is that a compliment or something else?" asked Jayde, his eyebrows raised.

"Consider it a compliment." Livia was not in the mood to argue.

"Livy, are you sure you want to come with me?" Jayde wanted to make sure again.

Livia nodded slowly.

Her heart had already hurt by Levin's betrayal. Even the wound in it still hurt when she remembered the incident in the bedroom. "Jayde, can I raise them without him? What if they are born and grow up, then they ask about their father?" Livia couldn't lie to her anxious heart. What if she failed to be a good parent to her children because now she would be a single parent?

"Of course—"

"I'm willing to be their father," interrupted a male voice from the direction of the door.

Livia and Jayde were stunned. The look on their faces suddenly changed.

"Get out, or I'll report you to your sister, Zayn!" Jayde threatened.

It seemed that the threat was effective and drove Zayn out of business.

"Okay, okay. I just want to take my phone," Zayn said.

He picked up the phone that he left in the medical bag and rushed out after giving a smile at Livia.

Livia smiled back awkwardly.

"How can you be friends with him?" Livia didn't understand his taste in choosing friends.

"I don't know. Maybe because of his sucks and frankly. He does like to find a chance to seduce women. Even so, he has never been in a serious relationship with any woman, so you don't have to take his words seriously."

Livia averted her eyes from Jayde and sighed when she looked at the ceiling. It made Jayde think that Livia was still worried about her children.

"Don't worry, we'll raise them together. In your new place, you don't have to worry about anything else. Maybe this is the best for you. Now you are free to do whatever you want. Even Mrs. Arley can't stop you if you want to return to work as a doctor."

Livia covered her eyes with her left arm, hiding the tears that flowed without her wishing. "Jayde, I hate Levin so much. It feels like I want to get rid of my memories of him. But I still love him, too. I don't know what to do."

Livia had never experienced overlapping feelings at one time. Probably, it was because she was pregnant that her feelings were so sensitive.

"Time will heal your pain, Livy," Jayde replied. "You don't have to think about him anymore. Don't you remember what Zayn just said to you? You shouldn't be stressed. Just think about your health. Don't get sick again. You almost got me into a heart attack earlier, you know? As a doctor, you should know what to do. Survive for yourself and your babies."

Livia was silent for a while as if she was thinking about something before deciding, "Alright."

"Good. Mom must be happy to see you after six years of our separation. She misses you very much and worries about you. She even asked me to come to Willberg and make sure that you were okay without a scratch."

"I miss her, too. I've been wanting to see Mom for a long time."

Jayde stroked his sister's head and ruffled her hair. Making Livia annoyed and pursed her lips.

Meanwhile, at the Levin Mansion.

Levin sat on the living room couch after kicking everyone out forcibly.

He couldn't close his eyes even though the night was getting late. The hatred in Livia's eyes haunted him. Despite the facts of Livia's betrayal, her words made him think that something was wrong.

Even in the morning, he still couldn't sleep. And finally, he decided to go to the office early to divert his mind.

With a 'ding' sound, the elevator door opened.

Levin stepped out and walked toward his room with a gloomy expression. He paid no attention to people who gave him a greeting along the way.

Levin's expression was colder than usual, but that didn't dump his charm. Precisely, that further increases his attractiveness, making the women more infatuated with him.

Levin stopped his steps when passing the corridor leading to the archival storage room. He heard a familiar voice mention her lover's name, Livia. He took a few steps back and stopped when he saw someone talking on the phone in front of the room.

"Exactly. I knew Levin would believe me, even though that was a lie. And actually, I couldn't hear their conversation. Yeah, and lucky me, Levin didn't ask anyone else to investigate that guy. If that happened, Levin would know it was fake, and my life would be over. I know fortune has always been in my favor. I didn't even bother to make excuses for what I said. Now you—"

Bart stopped talking as he turned around and saw a figure emitting a dark aura was watching him.

"Le-Levin?"

Suddenly, his body felt weak so that the phone he was holding fell.

Did Levin hear everything?

The cold sweat wet his back as Levin's steps got closer. When Levin picked up his phone on the floor, it was hard for him to take a breath.

The phone call was over and seemed to have been hung up by the other party. So, Levin dialed the number that read 'Boss'. However, the number was inactive.

Bart was about to speak, but Levin had already landed a punch in his face that knocked him down.

"How can you do this to me, Bart? I trust you because you're my best friend! Now tell me the truth, who are you talking to?!" Levin snapped as he grabbed Bart's shirt collar and held it.

Bart had trouble to answer because he felt a tightness in his throat. That made Levin more wrath and gave him repeated punches on his face.

Bart's face was now full of bruises and blood coming out of his nose and mouth.

This time, no one could stop Levin's violence. He was like a wild lion set free in the city. No one dared to approach him.

Bart thought he was at the end of his life; he had no choice but to find a way to survive.

"It's Mrs. Arley!"

Bart's words stopped the movement of Levin's hand less than a centimeter from his face.

Why did Bart say his mother's name?

Could it be the person Bart just called was his mother?

Levin lowered his hands and changed to gripping Bart's collar with his hands. Lift him so they were both in a standing position.

"You still dare to lie to me? Today is your last day—"

"I'm not lying, Levin! I recorded all the evidence of my conversation with Mrs. Arley. She's the one who asked me to look for an opportunity to frame Livia so that you would hate her. You can check it out for yourself."

Levin checked Bart's phone, and it turned out that his mother had been ordering Bart for a long time to find a way to separate him from Livia.

He felt like a complete fool for getting his mother to let go of his lover. No wonder Marleigh urged him to sign the divorce papers because she wanted him to divorce Livia for so long.

Levin ruffled his hair as he remembered what he had done last night. Not only did he doubt Livia, but he had also hurt her by sleeping with Esme.

Levin shouted in annoyance.

How was he going to fix a relationship that had ended so badly?

Her heart must be very hurt, he thought.

He didn't wait any longer and went to Livia's apartment to apologize, but it was empty. He didn't find anyone; even her number was inactive.

"Where are you, Livia?"

Then he called his secretary, Austin.

"Find out where Miss Rylee is and who the guy was with her last night at the Moon Hotel. Do it quickly!" he commanded.

"Yes, Mr. Arley!" Austin responded.

Levin hung up the call and got into the car.

"To Arley's Mansion!" he ordered.

"Yes, sir!" the bodyguard responded. He drove the car towards Arley's Mansion.

Fifteen minutes after the car drove off, Levin got a call from Austin.

The expression on her face instantly turned colder when he heard the information from Austin.
