Chapter 1 - The Battle of Tarys Miran

The silver armor glistened in the sunlight as the knight charged forward. In the chaos, he was the shining jewel of the Kingdom. Fearlessly, he continued to fight. Even as fearful cries filled the air and clashes of swords ended them. He knew he must make it to his post. He was close to his destination. Soon, he would arrive at the Silver Legion outpost, and his arrival would mark the end of his nemesis.

Thelonious Densus pulled Soulbreaker from its scabbard and brought it to bear. As leader of the Silver Legion's second battalion, he was sent by the king to retake the nearly overrun castle of Tarys Miran. Now that he and his men had arrived and saw just how many members of the Cobra Legion had infiltrated the area, Thelonious knew that it was going to be a long day.

Unlike the rest of his men who chose to carry swords into battle, Soulbreaker was a giant, two-handed steel mace with a perfectly round spiked ball at the tip capable of pulverizing shields, caving in armor, and shattering bones. His strength and skill with such a weapon allowed him to have bested some of the finest warriors in the land. Despite this, he still spent the first few hours after waking training in its use, never resting on his abilities and always finding new ways to improve.

He spotted the commander of Tarys Miran, Bartholomew, and a handful of soldiers engaged in a heated melee with the enemy…. and they were losing.

One of the soldiers grabbed his neck and fell as an arrow struck him from above. Thelonious instantly turned to his second-in-command and pointed to the rampart where the Cobra Legion archers were shooting from.

"Clear those Cobras off the walls!"

"Yes, my lord," the younger man replied before breaking away from the company with a platoon of thirty or so men.

Thelonious then ordered the remainder of his force to stay in formation and broke into a charge, picking up as much speed as his armored frame would allow. The sound of over a hundred metal footfalls thundered behind him.
