2.5 years before Sons and Daughters

 Jessie smirked at the boy looking at her. He was cute even for a Ruby. The stare lasted far longer than she intended, but she was having fun. That smile, I could look at that smile all day. A sharp kick from under the table got her attention off the ruby boy. She turned to her friend Lizzy who like her had only become a vampire in the last month. Unlike Jessie who had stunning Grey vampire eyes, her best friend had Aqua ones. The look on Lizzie's face explained her reason. 

"Its not like Mrs. Williams minds, she is busy helping that Emerald. Its like she said we are here to learn about other vampires… aren't we?"

 Jessie said the words in a mocking tone with one eyebrow raised. Lizzie smiled broadly and then giggled, while shooting glances at the boy in question. 

"Well, he is cute, but don't you want a Grey to be your mate?"

 Jessie didn't reveal anything in her face but that question made her laugh. As if I am ready to settle down, Lizzie doesn't get it I am not an Aqua. I don't need a forever man in my life, especially not right now. 

"Perhaps, but don't you want to know how different the other clans are? Like in bed?"

 Lizzie's eyes got wide and then she looked away focusing back on the teacher who was just now trying to bring the class back under control. Lizzie is such a prude; I love her but I will never be like that. I want to live… 

 Jessie smiled again for more than one reason. Mrs. Williams was about to find her surprise. Something Jessie had dreamed up while conspiring with her new Ruby friend. She shot that same boy another quick look, one with a devious and joyful expression. Jessie loved to play pranks and becoming a Grey had not lessened that in the lightest. Especially since I can fricking disappear, thank you dad!

 Mrs. Williams started to sit down but quickly fell strait down gasping the entire way. The moment it happened the whole class erupted in laughter. Jessie looked from Lizzie to her new friend in a knowing smugness. A minute later the beautiful but recently disheveled teacher rose to her feet. Quickly brushing off her clothing from landing on the floor.

"I see our Grey student has just demonstrated her ability for us. Jessie, you get one freebee and that was yours. Next time I will use my abilities against you….. ok?"

 Jessie pretended to be shocked that she would be accused of such a thing. There was low laughter in the class at her response. Everyone knew it was her.

"Each of us have special skills just like Jessie, and I am glad all of you are embracing them. But some gifts aren't as beautiful, some are dangerous. Each of us need to appreciate that."

 And just like that the happy mood was lost. Mrs. Williams was like Lizzie an Aqua who was so goodie-goodie. Hanna Williams couldn't take a joke. Those Aqua are too serious. Can't they just live a little? How could being a vampire be bad? Its fricking wonderful! Why would having this power be a bad thing? Lizzie can love better than a human, I can hide better than any human, and Jake can love better than any human. Jessie laughed internally at that, Jake was amazing in bed. Far different than that human boy she had been with. 

Those aqua don't understand love, or life really.
