Chapter 7: The First Test

The storm hit with a fury, whipping the seas into a frenzy. The boat tossed and turned, waves crashing over the deck, the wind howling like a banshee. The passengers were thrown about, screaming, clutching onto anything they could find. Chaos reigned.

Noah held on tight. He could sense the currents, the shifting of the waves, the movement of the wind. His Uchiha bloodline granted him a natural intuition for the environment, allowing him to predict the movements of the storm and stay balanced.

He had to stay calm. He had to focus.

Five hours.

The storm raged for five long hours, testing the limits of the ship, testing the limits of its passengers. The wind shrieked, the waves crashed, the boat creaked.

Then, just as suddenly as it had started, the storm subsided. The wind died down, the waves calmed, the sea became a mirror reflecting the sky.

Noah had survived.

He looked around, taking stock of the situation. Most of the passengers were unconscious, lying in a heap on the floor, their faces pale, their bodies limp. Others were doubled over, vomiting, their bodies wracked with nausea.

He was one of only four people standing. The others were Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika.

The captain, his face pale, his eyes weary, surveyed the carnage. He sighed, a deep sigh that echoed the desolation of the scene.

"Well," he said, his voice raspy. "That was a close one." He turned to the four survivors. "You four… Come here."

The four survivors approached the captain, their eyes wide with shock and relief.

"You've survived the first challenge," the captain said, his voice low. "But the Hunter Exam isn't over. The real tests are just beginning." He turned to Gon. "What's your name?"

"My name is Gon Freecs," Gon said, his voice filled with youthful enthusiasm. "And my goal is to become a Hunter. I want to find my dad."

"Noah," Noah said, his voice calm and steady. "My goal is to become the strongest."

"Why should I tell you my name?" Leorio said, his voice gruff. "And what's it to you? I'm not here to answer your questions!"

Kurapika looked at the captain with suspicion, his eyes narrowing. "What are you? Why are you asking us these questions?"

Noah, his Uchiha lineage granting him a sharp awareness of the situation, observed the other three. He could see the shock, the confusion, the disbelief on their faces. He could see the doubt, the skepticism, the fear.

They were all questioning the captain's identity.

"The Hunter Exam isn't just a simple test," the captain said, his voice a low rumble. "It's a test of your will, your resolve, your ability to survive. You've proven that you can survive. So, who are you? What are your goals?"

Leorio snorted. "You're kidding, right? You're the examiner? The captain?"

"My name is Leorio," Leorio said. "I want to become a Hunter so that I can make a lot of money."

Kurapika stood tall, his gaze unwavering. "My name is Kurapika. I will become a Hunter and I will hunt down the Phantom Troupe, the group that annihilated my clan."

The captain nodded, a flicker of respect in his eyes. "You four have proven your worth.

The captain pointed toward the port, a path leading towards a towering tree. "You'll find the next test there. The journey isn't over."

The four survivors exchanged glances, their faces a mixture of relief, excitement, and anticipation.

They stepped off the ship, the solid ground beneath their feet a welcome change after the churning of the sea. They headed toward the towering tree, the next stage of their journey, the next step in their quest to become Hunters.

The Hunter Exam had just begun.
