Chapter 13: Dungeon I
"Your Highness, I wish you safe travels. I have prepared everything that you've requested inside your Spatial ring. Please, Contact us without hesitation if you encounter any trouble." Armes replied, his voice filled with concern and care.
"Thank you, Uncle. I will contact you if any problem arises." Cassian flashed a kind smile on his face and shared a firm handshake with him.
Turning toward the right, He approached a little girl who had tear stains all over her cute face.
"Amy, I promise that I will return next week. Please, don't cry now else your brother will be very sad." He gently cupped her face and nudged her nose playfully, his voice soothing and warm.
"You won't leave me like before right?"
"I would never." Shaking his head, he firmly replied, his hand gently patting her head.
Amelia gave a tight hug to Cassian, melting in his embrace. After a while, she peeked above with her cute round eyes and pouted unhappily.
"I won't forgive you if you break your promise."
Cassian smiled, ruffling her hair lightly. "I won't. Bye, Amy."
With those parting words, He draped on a common attire and exited the palace sneakily. His previous outfit was too flashy and recognizable so he opted for simple but effective clothes that hid his face and body easily.
He also picked up some simple artifacts with presence-hiding magic and illusion magic that altered his appearance into a normal face with black hair and black eyes.
Blending in with the crowd, he moved through the city streets, passing various shops and stalls. Eventually, he arrived at the capital's main gate.
Nodding towards them, he flashed a fake adventurer ID to the guards and exited the Royal Capital. This card was prepared by Uncle Armes so its authentication was unquestionable.
Outside the Capital was a dense forest spanning miles, a thin trail was marked through the forest displaying a proper route for trade and transportation.
sigh
"Why don't they have a Teleportation Portal installed at that place? Now, I have to manually travel toward it. What a pain." A soft groan escaped his lips. The journey towards the Legacy Dungeon would take a while, thankfully he had prepared everything beforehand to ensure success.
The place he was planning to visit was a special area called Legacy Dungeon.
Yes, it was called the Legacy dungeon because of countless legacies of past heroes and villains floating alike inside there. The dungeon was inside a spatial domain, separated from the real world.
In the novel, The MC accidentally discovered its exact location while passing through the Silver Mountain Range, yep it was his dogshit luck playing its part.
Anyway, Inside the Spatial Domain were countless floating islands, each representing the legacies of the Ancient ones.
Of course, creating a Teleportation Portal was impossible around there since its location was currently hidden from the world.
Cassian causally mentioned the Silver Mountain Range, where the dungeon was located. Sadly, The mountain range was uncharted territory so, creating a TP first required to explore the mountains and transform it into a habitable zone.
He was just venting his frustration at the aspect of traveling to such a place, all alone.
"Still, venting about it won't make the journey any shorter," he muttered, stretching his arms. 'At least I'm not completely alone; I've got my shadow, even if it's still mute.'
With a quick breath, Cassian unleashed his mana, wrapping it around his body.
'Let's go.'
With those final words, he dashed away, leaving a gush of wind behind. His goal, the great Mountain range on the far horizon, silently peaking through the clouds.
—
Twelve hours of relentless running later, broken only by brief pauses for food and rest, Cassian emerged from the dense forest.
"Lucky for me, The cure for my mother's curse should also be inside the dungeon."
He murmured.
In the original story, Lucian discovered two priceless treasures within the dungeon: the Orb of Elementus and the Soulboost Vial.
[A.N: Lucian is the name of the 'Voidstar Chronicle' novel's MC.]
The Soulboost Vial as the name suggests was capable of boosting the latent power of the soul. Soul was a mystery topic in this world and very little information was available regarding it. Seraphina, Cassian's mother was suffering from a soul curse that sealed her powers and her soul.
The Soulboost Vial could potentially help her awaken from her slumber by boosting her soul but a complete cure was currently hidden inside the Mournshade Forest. The soul curse within her was potent and dangerous, even the Soulboost vial could at most wake her up. Unsealing her powers was not possible for now.
"Man, I swear the plot armors of the protagonist are too overpowered," Cassian muttered, shaking his head in exasperation before refocusing on the task ahead.
Both of these items were a top-notch treasure and could cause a disaster if exposed to the real world. Such treasures randomly dropped on the main character's lap.
sigh
Sighing to himself, he shook his head and continued on.
His presence-hiding artifacts were working like a charm, concealing him from the countless creatures inside the forest.
Soon, he reached the bottom of the Silver Mountain Ranges as before him resided countless mountain peaks standing tall and firm.
"Beautiful." He softly whispered, mesmerized by the raw, untamed majesty of the mountains.
Before him lay a sprawling expanse of rugged peaks, their slopes covered in patches of snow that reflected the pale light of the sky. Thin wisps of mist clung to the higher ridges, shifting gently with the breeze, while the lower slopes were dense with towering trees.
The faint rustle of leaves and the occasional call of distant birds blended into the quiet murmur of the forest, creating a serene yet haunting ambiance. Unlike the palaces and polished grandeur of the empire, the mountains radiated an unrefined elegance of nature itself.
He stood under it, gazing at the peaks with boundless resolve gleaming within his eyes.
inhale
Flaring his nostrils, he inhaled the fresh mountain air, feeling refreshed and energized. The mana density around the mountains was significantly higher compared to normal cities. Of course, excluding Royal Capital.
"Well, higher mana density meant more powerful beasts. Let's hope I don't run into some tyrant-ranks else my journey would end before it could properly begin."
Chuckling lightly, he scanned through his spatial ring, checking one last time. Inside, bottles of potion with varying colors lay, each simmering lightly with silver light. Only someone like him could afford such a massive amount of potions as their normal prices were costly, especially the high-tier ones. They cost buckets full of gold coins.
'Everything is ready.'
Nodding to himself, He adjusted his cloak and took his first step onto the narrow path that led into the range, his shadow stretching across the rocky terrain.
His steps were firm yet silent, evident of his progress in mana manipulation ability. He was channeling mana around his feet, preventing them from leaving footmarks on the white snow.
The weather around the mountains was quite gloomy and unwelcoming. Snowflakes dripped from the sky, painting the floor white with their ethereal beauty. They were breathtakingly beautiful but he didn't have the heart to admire them.
They just reminded him of the tragedy that caused him to reincarnate into this world.
pak pak
"Focus." He gently slapped his cheeks, reminding himself of his current misery. Thankfully, he had ordered Armes to craft cold-resistant, thermal clothes for himself just for this occasion.
swish
Taking them out of the ring, he swiftly donned it over his body, finally feeling the heat and warmth coursing through his veins.
He stepped forward and continued on his journey to the top.
