Chereads / The Apocalyptic Queen Back From Hell / Chapter 10 - Irresistible

Chapter 10 - Irresistible

"Mmm, looks like I'll need to start working as soon as I settle down and come back to the University…" Ling Yu mumbled by herself as she looked up towards the rear glass, where a pair of eyes moved in a speed of lightning, avoiding her eyes.

From the moment she stepped inside the car, Ling Yu was aware of the pair of eyes that kept a lookout for her. Even if she avoided it, she knew something was off very well.

It would be suspicious and raise a problem if someone were to discover the empty bag. Thus, Ling Yu needed something heavy to fill it up.

"Hmm, it might not be a bad idea to fill it up…" Ling Yu mumbled under her breath, covering her mouth with her hand as she changed her posture.

The driver was still staring at the road before him. After locking eyes with her once, he didn't dare to raise his eyes again.

The car stopped midway, but there was no change of expression on Ling Yu.

"Looks like the car engine has a problem, I'll go down and see what's going on." The driver didn't look back as he proceeded to get off of the car.

"But, isn't this place too dislocated? Where are we?" Though Ling Yu asked, the driver didn't respond back to her words. Perhaps because he thought it was not worth answering her, or he thought he didn't need to?

Ling Yu sat down straight as she looked around the surrounding area. Indeed, not even an ant could be seen, a perfect place to commit a crime without a second thought.

A calm, yet devilish smirk spread across her face.

'So it was their plan all along…'

But Ling Yu wasn't in a hurry as she came down from the car as well. But the driver was nowhere to be seen.

"Driver? Driverrr~" Ling Yu called out in a mixed tone, excited and afraid at the same time. But instead of the driver, a bunch of men in black surrounded her from every direction.

"W-who are you guys? Why are you here? I don't recall having any business with you?" Ling Yu backed off as she crossed her arms on her chest in a protective manner, her eyes showing fear and panic.

The man in black didn't seem to have any intentions to reply to her, instead, they circled around and took out a bunch of daggers and guns, clearly targeting her.

"Ahh, d-don't come near! Someone, help—!"

Before she could scream out, one of them silenced her from behind, while the other one sharpened their knives.

"Mmm, hmph!" Ling Yu tried to struggle, but she couldn't scream out as she was helplessly held down by them. The man could clearly see the panic and fear in her eyes, but he had to carry out the order, so her death would be meaningful for them.

He was about to strike, Ling Yu shut her eyes tightly.

Slash!

"..."

There was no movement for a while, as if everything around them froze there.

The leader seemed to consider their work was done, he was standing at a distance actually, since he didn't need to dirty his hands with something trivial like this, which could be taken care of by his men.

However, his eyebrows furrowed when he saw the expression on one of them, who was holding Ling Yu to restrain her, standing behind.

The terrified expression didn't quite suit that guy, he thought. But what happened?

The guy let go of Ling Yu as he took a few steps back from her, but the guy with the dagger didn't move at all. Instead, with a loud thud, he fell on his knees, with his head bent lower, as if he was worshipping a goddess.

"?"

What is that bastard doing?

The leader was pretty annoyed by the reaction of those good for nothing underlings, who were staring at Ling Yu as if they saw some ghost. But his expression changed the moment he saw the glint in Ling Yu's eyes, whose eyes were focused on the man kneeling before her.

A rather cruel smile flashed across her face as she put her hand on her lips, trying her best not to conceal the smile as she mumbled, "Oh my, I made a mistake… I really need to control myself… but, I guess I went too far this time…"

Seeing their strange reactions, he sent another one to take a look at what was going on. He clearly saw his man slashed her throat with a knife, she should've been dead and lying on the road by now. How come she was standing there just fine when it's the guy kneeling before her?

Before the man could move, the kneeling guy fell to the side, as a stream of blood slowly started to form down to the road, stirring a pool of blood.

"What… is this?"

One of his men just died? He just died like that?

How come he was dead?

The body fell with a thud and turned up towards the sky, and the man who died was staring up with his eyes open wide. His stunned and shocked expression was the clear evidence that it was unexpected he would die.

But the deep cut in his throat wasn't something surreal. It looked as if it was him cutting someone else's throat, and yet, it was somehow transferred to him instead of that person?

 How is it possible?

"Ke…! Kekeke! Kihhi!" A sound of restrained laughter came out which distracted them out of their trance. Ling Yu put both her hands in her mouth to stop the crazy laughter that came out, peeking at the men in black surrounding her.

Ah.

As much as she didn't want to admit it, she really couldn't stop it. Because the familiar scent of blood was so sweet and irresistible!

No one would believe that it's her true nature, the reason Ling Yu was able to live so long and survive every dungeon, and return home as the only survivor in most of the raids.
