"{Proceed / Erase User}"
'Finally,' Damon thought to himself.
For a brief moment, Damon wondered what the 'Erase User' option meant but he waved it off. Calmly, he instructed, "Proceed."
With a smile on her face, Lexi clapped her hands together and a screen appeared in front Damon's eyes.
{Real Name: Damon Shelby}
{Battle Zone: United States of America}
{Main Attribute Points: 25}
{Fixed Attribute points: 10}
Damon was used to popup screens in virtual reality games so he wasn't fazed. As he observed it, Lexi noticed the curious look on his face and explained.
"Each player has 25 Status points at the beginning. They are to be distributed amongst the 4 main attributes; namely: Strength, Agility, Vitality, Intelligence.
The Strength attribute {STR} will determine the amount of physical damage you cause when attacking with your bare hands or with a weapon. This attribute is primarily used by attack based Warriors. 1 point of STR = 2 points of Physical Attack Power
The Agility attribute {AGI} defines the rate you have to avoid the attack of a monster, NPC or player. Unlike other attributes, AGI doesn't depend on the points allocated to it alone. A player's physical qualities and innate talent also enhances this attribute. With low AGI, it is possible to avoid attacks if you have fast reflexes and good reaction speed. 1 point of AGI = 2 points of Evasion and Accuracy
The Vitality attribute {VIT} determines the number of Health Points (HP) your Avatar will have in Rivia. This attribute is the most important at the beginning of the game since your Survival in Rivia depends on your Health Points. 1 point of VIT = 10 HP +1 Defense point. The higher your Defense points, the less Damage an attack will have on your HP.
The Mana attribute {MAN} determines the amount of Magical Damage you cause when attacking with Spells or Magical Weapons. This attribute is most important for Mage-type Avatars. 1 point of MAN = 10MP + 2 points for Magical Attack Power
While Lexi explained each attribute, Damon listened attentively. He was already familiar with the attributes from other VR games, but was hoping to hear something he didn't already know.
Damon couldn't help but notice Lexi referred to Survival again, instead of Journey which was the commonly used term in other video games.
"Player, at the beginning of the game, it is advisable to give points to each attribute."
When Lexi finished speaking, a small blue screen appeared in front of Damon.
The screen looked like this:
{Main Attribute Points: 25}
{STR: - 0 +}
{AGI: - 0 +}
{VIT :- 0 +}
{MAN:- 0 +}
The 0 represented the current points each attribute had and the – and + signs were to withdraw and add points as the player wished. Just as Damon was about to begin his distribution, Lexi's words replayed in his head.
"Advisable? What do you mean advisable?" Damon asked confused, but Lexi went silent. He asked several more times, but Lexi didn't give an answer.
In the past video games, it was compulsory to give at least 20% of the Total Status Points available to each of the main attributes. Lexi had indirectly told him that the distribution of the Status points was completely up to the Player's discretion.
Damon took a short breath before finally making his decision.
"Can I allocate the points later?"
"Of Course. If you do not wish to distribute the attribute points right now, a final reminder would be given before the completion of the Avatar Creation Process," Lexi replied with the beautiful smile of an angel.
"What's next?"
"Distribution of the Fixed Attribute points. The two fixed attributes are Luck and Charm. Both can be given a maximum of 30 attribute points.
The Luck attribute is naturally related to your fortune in Rivia. The higher the points in the fixed attribute 'Luck' the more likely you are to deliver Critical Hits or Amor Penetration Hits in your attacks. In addition, the level of Luck also influences the rate of drops within Rivia."
The little creature continued:
"While the fixed attribute 'Charm' is related to how high your charisma will be in Rivia. The higher your Charm, the greater your chances of getting along with the NPCs which in turn will get you better missions and rewards. Know that a failed attempt in the addition of an attribute point would result in its permanent loss. Please assign your attribute points carefully," Lexi concluded before finally going silent again.
There was a look of anticipation in her eyes as she awaited Damon's decision.
The previous screen of the main attributes disappeared and another screen took its place.
{Fixed Attribute Points: 10}
{Luck: - 0 +}
{Charm: - 0 +}
'Wow!' Damon exclaimed internally. He had never seen these two attributes in the previous VR games he had played. Not only where they completely new attributes, they offered great benefits.
Damon calculated that filling Luck and Charm with the maximum points would correspond to getting 100% of their benefits. Right now, the game only allowed 10 points to be shared between them. Maybe later in the game, there would be ways to earn more.
Damon was about to click on Charm's + sign when he had an absurd idea. It was so absurd, it would shock the entire population of gamers if they were aware.
"Bring up the previous Attribute window," he instructed, with a devious grin on his face.
Lexi did as instructed. Both screens were now before Damon. He closed his eyes for a second and took a breath from his mouth. This was something he only did when he was about to take a huge risk. When Damon's eyes reopened, he began his distribution. At the end, the list of main attributes looked like this.
{Main Attribute Points: 20}
{STR: - 1 +}
{AGI: - 1 +}
{VIT :- 1 +}
{MAN:- 2 +}
{Fixed Attribute Points: 0}
{Luck: - 10 +}
{Charm: - 0 +}
"The next step to create your Avatar is-"
"Add 20 Attribute points to Luck!" Damon commanded, cutting Lexi short.
For a brief moment, there was silence between them. Suddenly, the smile on Lexi's face became even wider. Her wings which were transparent earlier now had a vibrant rainbow glow and little sparks escaped from it.
"Congratulations, you are the first Player to make such a request in the whole of Rivia and so, your request has been granted. Further requests shall be rejected."
{Main Attribute Points: 0}
{STR: - 1 +}
{AGI: - 1 +}
{VIT :- 1 +}
{MAN:- 2 +}
{Fixed Attribute Points: 0}
{Luck: 30 (MAX) }
{Charm: - 0 +}
Damon almost fell down in shock when he heard Lexi's words. He could barely contain the surprise and joy that was swallowing him. Before the game had even begun, he had uncovered a Hack. He had received a Golden Finger.
Unfortunately, at a very high cost.
