Chapter 26 - confessions

Ella sat comfortably on the couch, her legs curled beneath her as she held her phone up to her face. The video call with Zara was on, and they were chatting about Zane. Ella's voice had a slight quiver in it, something that hadn't gone unnoticed by Zara.

"Ella, I know you like him," Zara said teasingly, her smile wide across the screen. "Don't deny it. Zane's been all over your mind lately."

Ella sighed, trying to brush it off. "It's not that simple, Zara. He's... complicated. He doesn't make things easy, and I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with that."

Before Zara could respond, the call suddenly cut off. Ella frowned, trying to reconnect, but there was no luck. As she was about to give up, a shadow fell across her, and a familiar voice made her freeze.

"Ella?"

She turned around, her eyes widening in surprise. There stood Zane, his hands in his pockets, looking as casual as ever.

"Zane!" Ella said, startled. "What are you doing here?"

Zane gave a sheepish smile. "I was just going to spend some time here during my vacation. But I see I caught you at a bad time."

Ella blinked, a wave of emotion sweeping over her. She hadn't expected him to show up, especially not like this.

"You... You're here?" Ella stammered, still processing the situation. "I thought... I thought you were busy."

Zane chuckled softly, stepping closer. "I wanted to be here. I'm sorry if I made you sad earlier."

Ella didn't know what to say. There was something comforting about his presence, but it also stirred something deeper within her.

"Thanks for coming," she whispered, her heart racing. Zane smiled warmly, his eyes locking with hers.

Meanwhile, in a dimly lit hotel room, Indira lay in bed, her body pressed against Lachlan Kingston's. The tension between them was palpable, but not in the way it had once been with Sophie. Indira's fingers traced his jawline as they kissed, a deep and passionate embrace that spoke of the secrets they'd been keeping for months.

Lachlan pulled away, breathing heavily. "You know, Indira, I never thought we'd end up here, after everything that happened with Sophie."

Indira smirked, her lips curling into a sly grin. "You should've thought twice before you cheated on her with me. But I couldn't help myself... I was drawn to you."

Lachlan's eyes softened as he looked at her. "It was complicated. Sophie was great, but... you and I, we just fit better, don't we?"

Indira nodded, her gaze darkening. "I knew it from the start. I fell for you, Lachlan. But you need to make it clear to Sophie that I'm not going anywhere."

Lachlan raised an eyebrow. "You want me to end things with Sophie for good?"

"Absolutely," Indira replied with conviction. "I'm not playing second fiddle anymore. It's time you chose me."

Back at the Wilson Mansion, the atmosphere was tense. Rebu Wilson and Chole Wilson stood in front of Mason Wilson, their faces flushed with anger.

"Mason, how could you do this?" Rebu's voice was sharp, her fists clenched at her sides. "You arranged Aiden's marriage without even consulting him? This isn't your decision to make!"

Chole added, her voice equally furious. "You think this is just about alliances? Aiden's happiness matters, Mason! This is his life, not a business transaction!"

Mason leaned back in his chair, his expression unchanging. "I did it for the family. Aiden is the future of this house. You both know that."

"Family?" Rebu snapped. "You're just using him to solidify some deal! Aiden doesn't want this, and you know it."

Chole shook her head, frustration evident in her features. "We can't just push him into something like this. This isn't the way to handle things."

Mason's gaze hardened, but he remained silent, unwilling to back down. The tension in the room thickened as the siblings glared at one another, the divide growing wider with every passing second.

Back at Aiden's place, the air was filled with a quiet intensity. Sophie stood near the door, her eyes locked on Aiden as he placed his keys on the counter.

"Aiden," she began softly, her voice hesitant, "Earlier... when you said that thing about falling for me... what did you mean?"

Aiden turned around, his expression serious, yet warm. He took a few steps toward her, his gaze never leaving hers.

"I meant exactly what I said, Sophie," he replied, his voice low but sincere. "I've fallen for you. I've been fighting it for so long, but it's clear now. I can't deny it anymore."

Sophie's heart fluttered in her chest. She had always known there was something between them, but hearing him say it out loud made it feel real.

"You... you really feel that way?" Sophie whispered, her eyes searching his for any sign of hesitation.

Aiden smiled, stepping closer. "I do, Sophie. I really do."

Without another word, Sophie's breath caught as Aiden leaned in, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. It was as though everything in the world stopped—just the two of them, wrapped in the warmth of their feelings for one another.

Sophie pulled away slightly, her eyes sparkling. "So, we're... really doing this?"

Aiden nodded, his hands gently cupping her face. "Yeah. We're doing this."

The room was filled with excitement, a new chapter unfolding for both of them. Their kiss deepened, each of them lost in the intensity of the moment. It felt like a promise—a promise of love, of trust, and of a future together.
