In a time long past, the two mightiest kingdoms of Vashnara. One ruling from the East, the other from the South. Bound by a fragile peace, this harmony was shattered when a forbidden love blossomed between the sole prince of the Eastern Kingdom and the cherished princess of the South. Their love was as fierce as it was forbidden, a bond so deep that neither mountain nor river could keep them apart.
Despite the dangers, they met in secret, dreaming of a future where their love could unite their kingdoms. But their dreams were torn asunder on a fateful day, when an arrow, swift and deadly, found its mark in the heart of the princess. The prince, cradling his dying beloved, was overwhelmed by grief and despair, his heart breaking as her life slipped away.
News of the princess's death spread like wildfire across the Southern Kingdom. Consumed by rage and sorrow, the people turned against the prince, accusing him of the heinous crime. The princess's father, the king, blinded by grief and fueled by the cries of his people, demanded retribution. He swore that the prince would pay for his daughter's life with his own.
The prince, devastated and heartbroken, swore his innocence, vowing that he could never harm the one he loved more than life itself. Yet, his pleas fell on deaf ears, and the peace between the kingdoms shattered like glass. Thus began a war of vengeance and sorrow, a conflict that would drench the land in blood and tears. The identity of the one who struck the fatal arrow remains a mystery to this day, lost in the annals of history. The true culprit, hidden in the shadows, left a wound that would forever scar the hearts of both kingdoms, a wound that could never heal.
Centuries later....
The newly crowned Sultan, Anbaya, was one strong, young and prudent leader. He excelled in different areas: from painting, archery, diplomatic activities and swordsmanship. But though great in many things, no man is ever deemed perfect. Anbaya, was a great leader, that's much was certain. But he, however, fails in another. In love. He was rather upright and reserved. He didn't believe in love. In fact, he in fact, doesn't know what love is at all.
At the age of 30, he married Sanaya. She was the perfect candidate chosen among eligible young women in the kingdom. He always thought that everything was in the right place, though he didn't love Sanaya, he thought that she is just there to bear him his heir. So the prospect of marriage mattered a little to him. They didn't love each other. But they remained good friends. After 2 years of their marriage, their union remained unfruitful.
On the night of the Sultan's Birthday, a great feast was prepared. Dancers from different kingdoms were invited. And there, amidst the revelry, he saw her- the most captivating lady his eyes ever laid upon. A dancer.
Her hair was lustrous black.
Eyes black as ravens feather.
Skin, white as milk.
She was beautiful. She was astonishing. Ethereal.
Out of interest, he became acquainted with her. And through her, the Sultan learned what it means to love and to be loved. Few weeks later, Sanaya heard of this news that the Suntan was infatuated with a foreign dancer. She didn't believe it - she knew Anbaya. But to feed her curiosity, she went to find Anabaya. There, she saw. She saw how Anbaya was looking so bright and warm towards the foreign girl. She felt betrayed.
This made her resent herself. If only she could bear him an heir, he doesn't need to find another woman to warm his heart. Sanaya's thoughts, haunted her. Like a voice who wouldn't stop whispering in her ears. Every night when she sleeps, it creeps into her soul – the feeling of being insignificant, unworthy, and unlovable. She was consumed by insecurity and it tormented her.
All at once, she realized, how she deeply craves Anbaya's attention.
How desperately she longed for his love.
The love that could never be hers.
And it drove her mad. Shame, greed and hatred. It ruled her. So she shut everything out. She became unfeeling. Alive but dead.
A ghost, she turned.
For almost a year, she remained in this state. Even the Sultan, who was concerned, tried all his might to bring her back to reality but failed. He learned of what made Sanaya this way and he blamed himself. Because of his selfishness, his greed, that he is about to loose an important companion. Another month passed, and Sanaya's suffering came to an end. At last she is now at peace. At peace in heaven.
On the day, his Companion left the living world, a letter came. All life seemed to drained from Anbaya's face when he read the contents of the letter.
A life left, and a life came.
