Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Seeing that Sophie Lawrence was about to fall onto that steel bar, Jason Lu above suddenly made a forceful turn. Immediately, the two of them rolled to one side. At that very critical moment, Jason Lu exerted all his strength. His muscles tensed up and the veins on his forehead bulged, all in an effort to change the dangerous situation they were about to face.

After rolling over several times on the ground, they finally stopped. Jason Lu's heart was beating rapidly, as if it was about to burst out of his chest. He gasped for breath heavily, and his mind was in chaos. But soon, the instinct of survival made him quickly regain his composure.

Jason Lu quickly got up, only to find that Sophie Lawrence beneath him had fainted at some point. His heart tightened suddenly, and a feeling of guilt mixed with worry welled up in his heart.

After the aftershock passed, Mark and the others hurried over.

"Captain Sophie has blood on the back of her head!" A teammate exclaimed, with horror and worry in his voice.

Jason Lu immediately looked at the place where they had rolled over. Sure enough, he saw obvious bloodstains on a rock not far away. Against the gloomy backdrop of the ruins, those bloodstains were extremely eye - catching, like an evil flower blooming on the verge of death.

He was just about to touch Sophie Lawrence when he was pushed aside. Mark and the others, only thinking of rescuing Sophie Lawrence as soon as possible, carefully and quickly carried Sophie Lawrence on their backs and ran towards the Healing Haven.

"Doctor! Is there a doctor?"

The shrill cry for help came from the hall. Henry Mitchell immediately turned around from the nurse station. When he saw Sophie Lawrence on Mark's back, his pupils suddenly shrank, like a huge stone suddenly dropped into a calm lake.

Other doctors also came after hearing the news: "What happened?!"

"The aftershock just hit, and the captain accidentally hit her head!"

Sophie Lawrence was quickly sent into the operating room. Her face was as pale as the first snow in winter, without a trace of color. She was like a fragile porcelain doll, as if she could break at any time.

But Henry Mitchell still had other patients to treat. He took a deep breath and forcibly suppressed the panic and worry in his heart. After a brief shock, he regained his calmness again. Beneath that calm exterior, there was actually a heart worried about Sophie Lawrence.

Time passed by minute by minute, and the night, like a black curtain, gradually enveloped the whole world.

When Henry Mitchell finished his last operation, Sophie Lawrence had already been pushed into the ward.

The environment in the ward was very simple. Sophie Lawrence was squeezed into a ward with several other patients. There were several hanging bottles in front of the bed. Those hanging bottles were like silent guardians, quietly accompanying the people on the sickbed.

Henry Mitchell walked in gently. He hadn't even had time to change his clothes yet. He was tired after the operation, but there was a trace of unconcealable concern in his eyes.

Sophie Lawrence lay on the bed with her eyes closed. Her lips had no color at all, like a withered rose. Her whole face was extremely haggard, as if all the vitality had been drained away by the illness.

...

In the evening of the next day, Sophie Lawrence slowly woke up. This sleep seemed to be the most peaceful and care - free one she had had since the disaster relief began. In her dream, she temporarily escaped from that disaster - relief scene full of danger and challenges.

The doctor came to examine her again. Although it was only a mild concussion, he still told her to have a good rest and not move around randomly. The doctor's voice was gentle yet serious. Every word was like a nail, nailing into Sophie Lawrence's heart, making her understand that her current physical condition should not be underestimated.

When the nurse came to change the medicine, Sophie Lawrence noticed a bottle placed beside her hand with the infusion tube. The bottle was filled with warm water. It refracted a soft light under the lamp, as if carrying a different kind of warmth.

A look of confusion flashed in Sophie Lawrence's eyes, and she asked, "Who put this bottle here?"

The nurse shook her head: "I don't know."

After changing the medicine bottle, the nurse left directly.

Sophie Lawrence lowered her eyes and stared at the bottle, lost in thought. She kept guessing in her mind who had been so careful as to prepare this bottle for her. Was it a teammate? Or...

After an unknown amount of time, Sophie Lawrence suddenly frowned, only feeling a sudden warm current in her lower abdomen.

At this time, Jason Lu suddenly walked in from the doorway.

He walked to Sophie Lawrence's bedside and stood still, and said apologetically, "Miss Sophie, I'm very sorry. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been injured." There was deep self - blame in his eyes, like a child who had made a mistake.

Sophie Lawrence's expression was a little unnatural: "It was just an accident. Mr. Jason didn't do it on purpose either." In fact, her heart was a little complicated. On the one hand, she thought it was indeed an accident, but on the other hand, she also felt that her injury was indeed related to Jason Lu to a certain extent.

Before Jason Lu could speak, Sophie Lawrence suddenly asked, "Mr. Jason, do you have anything else?"

Jason Lu was taken aback by the question and shook his head subconsciously.

Sophie Lawrence clenched her hand: "I don't need anything from Mr. Jason here. If Mr. Jason has nothing else to do, you can leave now." Although her tone was very calm, there was an undeniable firmness.

During the conversation, Sophie Lawrence noticed a familiar figure passing by the doorway.

Since Sophie Lawrence had made it so clear, Jason Lu naturally wouldn't stay any longer.

"Then I won't disturb Miss Sophie's rest. Goodbye."

Not long after Jason Lu left, that figure appeared in Sophie Lawrence's ward.

At that time, Sophie Lawrence was about to turn over and get out of bed to go to the bathroom.

Henry Mitchell immediately stepped forward and pushed her back onto the bed, his voice hoarse: "Your body hasn't recovered yet. Why are you running around?" There was a trace of imperceptible anger in his voice because he was worried about Sophie Lawrence's physical condition.

Sophie Lawrence pursed her lips and reached out to pull down Henry Mitchell's collar, and whispered in his ear.

"I want to go to the bathroom. I think my period has come..."

Sophie Lawrence's voice was very soft, almost inaudible, like a feather gently falling, but it stirred up ripples in Henry Mitchell's heart.
