"Ooh Heavens…" the woman in bed yelped as Shadow abruptly entered the room. To his surprise, Lord Draven didn't stop.
He just kept on pounding the poor girl while she tried to get his attention to Shadow. He ignored her and kept on at what he was doing.
A sore sight for Shadow.
He wished he had knocked instead, things didn't become better as the bed folds fell off and Lord Draven's bare bum was revealed.
Hairy and chubby.
Shadow took interest in what he saw, not because he was stimulated. But because he wondered why the Lord's ass jiggled so much.
[OOHH MY!]
'Shut up Syl!'
[WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO JOIN IN?]
[ITS USUALLY DONE AMONGST THE REALMS.]
'Syl what the fuck? Who has orgies? In what realms?'
He spat in disgust just as the Lord emptied his load into the young lady. He collapsed, looking quite exhausted.
Shadow cleared his throat.
"You called?"
Lord Draven looked at him with a bit of confusion and interest, then his face lit with recognition.
"Aahh, you're my bastard" he said with a smile.
Shadow face remained stiff, partly because he didn't know how to react when talking to a naked man with his balls hanging loose.
"You have quite the timing, boy" He said, standing up and donning a robe around his body. The woman in bed simply covered herself up with the sheets and looked away in embarrassment.
Shadow had no idea who she was.
"Come, we have matters of importance. We must talk!" He said and sauntered out of the room. Shadow followed behind him, matching his stride with the Lord's.
"When did you awaken your mana?" The Lord asked.
Shadow thought for a moment, he couldn't tell the truth, obviously.
"Two years ago…" He lied.
The Lord stopped and looked at him.
"You have quite the talent, huh? Were you taught by anyone, you need not lie to me" the Lord's voice became soft.
Shadow had a feeling, the man wanted to use Shadow. He didn't like that, so he decided to say anything but the truth.
"I wasn't, my Lord" he responded. He was taught, just not in this world.
"Hmmm. I apologize for my neglect, I hope you find it in me to forgive me and also… Your mother" he paused and looked Shadow in the eye.
"She was a good woman" he turned and entered a room at the end of a long corridor.
'That's it?'
'She was a good woman?'
'The maid you had seduced and fucked, she had your baby, but you neglected her until her death and all you can say it, A good woman?'
Shadow felt his rage slowly building up. He resisted the urge to kill the Lord at this very moment. But held himself back.
'Killing him wouldn't be a problem, but the consequences'.
'Too many people knew I came to meet the Lord. I'd rather not be hunted down'.
He controlled his breathing and relaxed himself, then followed the Lord into his office, of some sort.
The Lord sat down in a chair facing the door, a table stood between him and Shadow.
"I have a mission for you… What's your name?" The Lord asked.
Shadow rolled his eyes,' Couldn't even know your bastard's name…'
"It's Kael..." He replied.
"Hmm. Kael Draven, it has a nice ring to it, wouldn't you agree?"
Shadow nodded in agreement. Personally, he would prefer to abandon his family name. The only reason that he hadn't run away from the family was because doing so meant treason.
'Such a dumb law'
Shadow understood the intentions behind it, but the restrictions were far much worse than he had expected.
As such, he looked for any reason whatsoever to leave the Draven Estate.
"You said something about a mission?" Shadow pushed.
"Aah yes, a mission. Firstly, can you read?" The Lord asked curiously.
Shadow looked at the Lord, asked though he was mad.
'Why wouldn't I know how to read? This bastard!'
Shadow simply nodded.
Lord Draven's face lit up with excitement, "Thank goodness, here take a look at these papers" he said handing out a number of papers together.
Shadow took them from his hand and began reading through them.
He did not like where this was going. He certainly wasn't made to be an accountant. He sucked at managing money.
"The family is in debt" Lord Draven said flatly.
'Okay? How's that my problem?'
"I need you to stand guard and protect the treasury of the house while I'm gone" he finished.
"Gone? Where are you going to? Why not just leave the soldiers to protect the vault or something, why does it have to be me?" Shadow asked, he felt like guarding a horde of money was definitely beneath him.
Lord Draven gave him a blank stare, then ruffled his hair with hair right hand.
"Because, there's not a single soldier here that wouldn't steal all the money in there and run away with it "he said matter of fact.
And it was true. Shadow had to admit.
"What about your other children?" Shadow asked.
"They're not available, they've all gone to the capital" he flicked his wrists as he said so. Something told Shadow there was much more than what the Lord was saying.
But he didn't want to know.
"And if I don't?" He asked back. Just testing the waters.
Lord Draven smiled a devious smile, one that Shadow hadn't expected from a chubby face like his.
"Treason" he chuckled.
'Ahhh, it makes sense now'.
Shadow understood the intentions of the Lord. He was trying to protect his wealth and make as much loss as possible. He couldn't risk the lives of his legitimate children, so he sent them to the capital.
As for his bastard son that he wasn't concerned about, he was expendable. Shadow's lips curved into a wicked smile.
"Ooh I understand, I'll carry out your commands as you see fit on one condition…" He added.
This was his chance at freedom.
"Speak"
Shadow straightened up and wiped the smile from his face.
"If I complete the task you have given me, then I request your permit to leave the family and venture off as an Adventurer" he said calmly.
"To bring glory and honor to the family's name" he added.
Lord Draven sat up and looked at him. His eyes seem to be calculating, trying to figure the intentions of Shadow.
"Denied!"
