It was risky.
Quite a bit risky, but thankfully, everything went according to plan.
My goal was never to defeat the gang. After all, what can a person who just picked up a dagger a few days ago, without engaging in a life-death battle, do against people who spend their entire lives killing?
Before entering, I knew that I couldn't be killed.
Not to praise myself, but I am quite handsome. Even the noblest face would pale before me if I dressed nicely.
A notion I was thankful for and such a face with a delicate body was a very hot commodity for high-ranking demonesses.
Especially the ones from the Lust Clan.
From the succubi, I got the information that the Blood Wolf Gang had a major business in slave trafficking, which is legal in the Demon Continent.
So, I was sure they wouldn't kill me but rather imprison me. So not to provoke them and create a deadly enmity, I didn't kill anyone; otherwise, things might have gone a bit weary.
Also, during the fight, I figured out a couple of things about my fighting style.
As for imprisonment, I could just escape using shadow steps, but I wasn't going to. Rather, I can use this chance to train a bit.
So, before fighting, I used the skill shadow pouch to pack things in it and put it inside my inner clothes.
As I assessed the place, a pungent fish smell assaulted my nostrils as I got up and coughed the remnants of blood left in my mouth. For some reason, my tongue had gotten used to the metallic aftertaste of blood.
Weirdly enough, I seemed to like that salty taste.
How weird?
I snapped my head to take a look around the dirty, foul-smelling room. It was a huge room with many people tied around the wall. This was a prison where the beastmen were kept locked with their entire bodies tied, while on the other side were small, young demons.
My eyes spotted various demons, both young and teens, who were observing me with equally curious gazes. Some were sneaking peeks at me, while others growled at me, clearly on guard against the new intruder.
However, the curiosity flashing in their eyes was hard to curb.
In the midst of this, I heard a voice.
"What did you do to get caught here?"
I turned my head to see a bulky orc of similar height to me. In the dim light, his eyes gleamed with a greenish austere.
"Will you believe me if I say I got caught knowingly?"
"My ass!" he spat and then laughed.
"You were quite unlucky, and on top of that, you are just a human with a frail body. I wonder how long you can hold on. Whatever, welcome to imprisonment."
As soon as he said this, several voices started to echo, muttering with soft smiles.
"Welcome here!"
"Human kin, let's have a good time."
"What's up with this atmosphere? You all are imprisoned here? Shouldn't you all stay gloomy while trying to figure out a way to get out?"
"Haa! Who wants to do all those cumbersome things? Also, it's better to be sold as a slave rather than die on an empty stomach," the orc spoke faintly as he rested his back on the wall.
My eyes widened due to the sudden realization that hit me.
The Demon Continent was vast and wide. While demons concentrated near the cities under a Lord had something to share, many demon tribes were stranded amid the wasteland, and it was quite difficult to survive there.
Hunting is the only way to survive, but that's only the case if you can hunt because in many cases, monsters might kill you if you are weak.
"I am Gremlin, and you?" the orc asked, widening his lips to expose his fangs.
"Lukas," I said, starting to scan around to look for the person I came here for.
"Hey, Gremlin!"
"Yeah!"
"Do you know a half-human, I mean a half-demon guy who is imprisoned here?" I asked, wondering if this guy was gonna say anything because this guy looked like a typical bully.
"Saber… Are you talking about Saber?" Gremlin asked with a frown.
My eyes widened upon hearing the name, and I nodded. A name that brought me many unsavory feelings.
"Yeah, I am looking for him," I spoke hurriedly.
"You… Did you come for him?" Gremlin cast a shocked expression while assessing me from head to toe, as though he was looking at a maniac.
Raising my cuffed hand, I scratched my cheek. "You can say so."
Gremlin's expression changed abruptly, and he shot his hand toward me, startling me.
Not assuming such a violent action of punching him, I reacted to defend myself from the approaching punch but halted upon hearing the next words.
"Bro… You are the real man. You came here to save your friend. Oh my god, what a bonding!" Gremlin started shedding tears and shouted.
"Look, he is here to save his buddy. Saber, where is he?"
I blinked my eyes, not knowing whether to let the misunderstanding cook or clear it now.
"Saber is asleep. Wait a minute, let me wake him up."
SMACK!
KYAKKKK!
A loud gasp echoed as the seemingly wake-up was a loud slap.
I turned my head towards a pale humanoid figure with long crimson hair with a single horn over the right side of his head.
The moment I noticed that guy, my eyes lit up.
He was here.
The one who was fearsome enough to be termed the Apocalypse of Death…
"SABER!"
"Who!" The half-demon, confused after waking up from sleep, looked around, rubbing his eyes.
"Huh! A newcomer… When did he come?" Saber muttered, rubbing his eyes.
"He isn't a newcomer… He is your pal who came to save you." Gremlin shouted, nudging me aside, and making me scream inside.
What the hell? Why is this bastard getting excited all of a sudden?
"WHAT!" Saber's lips opened wide, and his eyes scanned me from head to toe.
A brief silence lingered for a moment, broken by Saber's stuttering voice, "Do… Do I know you?"
"..."
SWISH!
The jolly atmosphere vanished all of a sudden.
Gremlin's expression crackled, and he looked at me, asking for an answer. "Didn't you say you are his friend?"
"When the fuck did I say that?" I complained. This bastard was causing unnecessary misunderstandings.
"Then why are you here?" he shouted back.
"I came to save him for real but I don't know him well."
"Why?" Both Gremlin and Saber asked in shock.
Gremlin blinked his eyes in confusion, while Saber made a face asking what the hell was going on here.
"You two, stop getting riled up. Calm down first," I shouted.
After they calmed down, I looked at Saber.
"See, it's like this. I inherited a special class."
"What? Special class?"
"Is it powerful?"
Everyone chimed in shock.
"Then, it should be quite strong, isn't it?"
"Wow! You are amazing. Is that good face something you inherited from the class? Is there a similar way to get handsome? I can't stand my own ugliness."
"It's not that special that you are making it out to be. If it was that good, I wouldn't be locked here. You might wonder what they would amount to in front of a good class. But that's certainly not the case."
Raising my hand, I made a cross sign" Having a special class doesn't make you op."
"You are right about that," Saber murmured and then looked at me. "What connection does it have to do with me?"
"It has. I had a quest to save you," I lied with a straight face.
"Really?" Saber asked skeptically.
"Of course, or do you think I would risk my life for a random stranger?"
Saber's lips opened wide for a moment, unable to find words to say. On one hand, he was quite overwhelmed, while on the other hand, he wondered what the quest was.
I could even glimpse suspicion all over his face.
"I know what you are thinking. Honestly, I don't know the answer, but I think it might have something to do with your bloodlines. Maybe the person who last used the class might be your ancestor and wanted to save the last of his bloodline."
"That certainly might be the case," Gremlin concluded and then looked at me.
"Yeah…Yeah. I agree with that." the young demon chimed, folding their hands.
Among them, a blonde leaned forward towards Saber," Brother, you need to treat brother kindly as he took a great risk."
"It isn't. I am practically in the same situation as you all," I clarified.
"Still, what you did is proof of your noble beliefs. I am in awe of your determination and courage. By the right of the leader of the slaves here, I proclaim you to be a good guy and henceforth our brother."Gremlin laughed aloud and patted my shoulder.
Hearing this, I made an absurd face.
Now, what the hell is this guy blabbering about?
"Yes!"
"Welcome to the life of imprisonment.'' everyone shouted in joy.
'What the hell is wrong with them,' I screamed inwardly terrified by their enthusiasm.
