Elysia stepped inside Magnus's office, closing the door. She had sensitive information, taking a cigar from his pocket, breathing fire, lighting the cigar. He puffed and then blew out smoke that filled the room. Elysia's patience reaching its end waiting for him to say something.
"We've had two unrelated murders, but I suspect goblins. Elysia said.
Elysia loved the scent of the man's cigars. Her Master had smoked a pipe. She loved the aroma. Magnus puffed his cigar as he inspected Elysia. He placed the cigar in an ashtray on his desk.
Magnus shook his head dismissively. "Goblins impossible. They prefer the capital with all those loose and willing females there."
Elysia stared at Magnus. He had gone to the academy in the capital. When he turned eighteen, he did not have one good thing to say about the capital.
On the other hand, she had joined the local military, joining the police force after the border war with the Drow ended.
Elysia walked to the old inn, her long trench coat billowing behind her. She spotted Ignatius and Luna walking towards their new property. Where contractors were busy inside. Winfrid, the contractor, had his men set up a workbench and makeshift chairs for the new owners.
As Elysia approached, she felt a strange sensation. Her face grew hot, and she realised she had been holding her breath. Ignatius's ethereal beauty left her stunned. This man would only spell trouble, she decided. He must be a criminal or something. How could a man have the face of a goddess?
Ignoring her growing discomfort. Elysia introduced herself, greeting Winfrid and his team with a curt nod. "I'm Detective Bloodrose," Elysia said, looking at Luna and Ignatius
"I'd like to speak with the new business owners."
Winfrid and his men, eager to please her, placed a bench for her. Elysia seated herself, her piercing red eyes locking onto Luna's. She is one of the most beautiful elves I have ever seen. Elysaia thought. She admired her silky smooth platinum blond hair. She was the first elf she had seen with such hair. Her ears a bit longer than other elf's.
"This town is not the capital, Miss Nightingale," Elysia began, her voice clipped.
"Your privileges mean nothing here."
"Stay out of police business."
"Then we won't have any problems."
Luna met her gaze. Elysia could see a flicker of recognition and challenge in her eyes. "We're here to run a coffee shop, Detective. Nothing more."
Elysia's eyes narrowed. "Let's keep it that way."
Her long, ebony-black hair cascaded down her back. Tailored clothing accentuated her shapely legs.
Ignatius and Luna struggled to ignore Elysia's captivating eyes. Her body and long, shapely legs drew their attention. Do they also desire me? Elysia wondered.
Her no-nonsense demeanour left little room for pleasantries.
"We're here to open a coffee shop," Ignatius said, trying to sound confident.
Elysia's gaze remained fixed on them, her suspicion evident. "I see. Well, I hope you stay out of trouble."
"This town has enough problems as it is."
Elysia felt strange as she looked at Ignatius. She had feelings that she had never experienced before. She became aware of her body. She bought expensive underwear, enjoying the comfort of the silk.
Elysia tensed as Ignatius placed his hand in his coat pocket. Could it be a knife or a wand? She would react in seconds. Her vampire senses awake. She realised she should have taken a bag of blood and consumed it on the way. Years on the border fighting on the frontline had honed her reflexes.
She trusted no one; her nerves were always on edge. She wished for a good night's sleep, yet it had eluded her for years now. She deflated as he removed an ornate pipe. He lit it, puffing away, and then placed it back in his pocket as he blew a circle of smoke into the air.
The tobacco aroma invaded her senses, transporting her to the past. With her senses on high alert, she shuddered. A warm vibration spread through her body with a tingling sensation. She imagined a warm hearth with a young Master sitting in his leather chair, reading her a story from myth and legend.
She was a little girl, one of the rare vampires to be born from her vampire parents. She felt warmth flowing through her body like sitting before a hearth in winter, soaking up the comforting heat.
The scene changed. Ignatius had his arm around her. He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. His deep purple eyes stared into her red eyes. Her lips parted as he kissed her. His hand caressed her naked skin down past her navel. She exhaled as he invaded her. She moaned, and her body shuddered. She pressed her body against his craving for more.
**********
Eyes glazed over. Elysia stared into the distance as the magic from his pipe revealed her deepest desires. Her body exuded a sweet, rosy scent, her feminine scent. She could see Luna swallowing excessively.
Elysia came out of her experience looking around her. She felt disappointed that it was only a dream. She held Luna's hand for some reason. She could see a hunger in Luna's eyes. Did this elf want her as a woman?
Elysia licked her lips as Luna's lovely scent aroused her. Elysia concluded, having smelled it many times living amongst humans and horny elves. The red-light district reeked of the smell.
Luna took the opportunity to try to build rapport with her. "I love your choker detective, Elysia. It is beautiful."
The compliment took aback Elysia. Usually, people gave her shit and attitude. Her abrupt way of speaking rubbed people wrong, especially the captain. Her hand moved to her choker, touching it.
She sighed. "My Master gave it to me before he perished by human hands." She wiped her eyes, laughing.
"Look at me. I am a mess."
Her face turned serious as she regained her composure.
Ignatius sat silent, observing her. The man infuriated her. That dream she had seemed so real. She yearned for his touch. She wanted him to take her. She hated the man, and she decided she despised him. He must be a criminal of the highest calibre, she thought. She could not get the images and feelings out of her head.
Christie brought them tea and placed it on a small workbench. "O my detective."
"The vampire clan that can walk in the sun."
"Your father, sorry, Master, died when a mob descended on your home. What a tragedy for vampire society. He was a beacon to many."
Elysia studied the fairy in her maid's outfit. "I am the last of my kind, I fear.
Elysia took a sip of her tea, and her upbringing as a noble lady was evident. "Our king, Zarkon, has disappeared."
Christie looked at Luna as she opened her mouth. "We are sorry for your loss, dear."
"The vampire families are screaming and assassinating each other to see who the next king will be."
"Yet all come to a nasty end."
Elysia shook her head. Her father was murdered, and the humans had been lied to. They took matters into their own hands as usual. This motivated her to become a detective. She was still investigating her Master's murder.
As a detective, she had unlimited access to the blood bank for her needs. She fed every two weeks, not needing her vampire power as crime was non-existent in Misty Cove.
Christie poured them more tea and left, bowing to Ignatius.
Ignatius's eyes gazed into her red eyes. Why is he staring at me, she thought, feeling vulnerable. He whispered in awe. "How beautiful you are, Elysia." He slapped his hand over his mouth.
Elysia's eyes widened, and she recoiled and almost fell off the bench. "That is harassment, sir." She blushed.
Elysia could see that Ignatius wanted to bolt inside the shop. His eyes kept looking for opportunities to run away. She had to control herself as laughter wanted to burst forth from her throat.
Elysia stood and took her cup of tea, gulping the last in one go, moaning with pleasure. "You have lust in your eyes, Thorn."
"Stay out of my way, and do not make trouble for our town."
As she turned to leave. Elysia couldn't shake the feeling. This was only the beginning of something much more complicated.
*********
Luna couldn't shake the feeling that the detective had seen through her facade. Ignatius looked confused. They stared at the beauty's ass together as she left.
The detective walked down the street, a sight they appreciated. Luna sighed. "I would like her."
Ignatius also sighed. "I agree she would make a great lover for us."
They looked at each other, realising what they had confessed. They sat in silence, too afraid to speak.
Elysia's parting words lingered in the air, a reminder of the challenges they might face in their new home. But with the contract signed and their resolve unwavering, Ignatius and Luna were ready to take on whatever came their way.
Ignatius took Luna by the hand. "How does a sandwich sound?"
Luna did not let go as he led her upstairs. "Sounds delicious."
Luna worried Elysia would look for anything she could find to lock Ignatius away. She would have to be vigilant if she wanted to protect her man.
