In fact, before this, Anirudh had fallen into a misconception, thinking that he was the only heir to an ancient legacy in the world.
However, according to the system, there were countless powerful beings, including gods, Buddhas, Rishis, and demons, in ancient times. So, when facing a catastrophe, how could these powerful beings not have left a trace of their civilization's inheritance?
Now, Anirudh wasn't sure how many inherited artifacts were still in the world, nor did he know whether the people who possessed these artifacts would be allies or enemies. But these concerns were for the future. For now, the most important thing for Anirudh was to gather relevant information in case of an emergency.
Thinking of this, Anirudh immediately opened the search engine and began gathering data.
The system had specifically told him that the more powerful a being was, the harder it was to manifest. In other words, the supernatural creatures that appeared earlier wouldn't be as powerful. So, at this moment, Anirudh didn't search for the most powerful gods, demons, monsters, or Sages. Instead, he focused on searching for supernatural legends, animations, and movies that were widely spread but not too powerful, in order to find the information he needed.
This information wasn't hard to find. There were relevant encyclopedia entries everywhere on the internet, and some people had even compiled special statistics, making Anirudh's task easier.
However, despite this, it was still a huge workload. After all, there were so many countries and so many legends in the world. No one knew what supernatural being might appear next.
Anirudh was someone who was extremely focused on what he did. Once he started something, he would forget the passage of time. It wasn't until Chandan knocked on the door and called him to dinner that he realized he had been researching for two or three hours.
But the problem was that there was still so much to check. Even after hours of work, the information he had gathered was only a small fraction. If he wanted to go through all of it, even just the weaker supernatural creatures, it would take him several days.
But the worst part for him was the lack of time!
Because of this, Anirudh was a little distracted during dinner, his mind constantly focused on the information he had been gathering. It wasn't until Chandan called him several times that he snapped back to reality.
Then, Chandan delivered some good news.
The vanguard from New Delhi would reach City C in at most one hour!
"It's finally here!"
Anirudh felt a surge of relief at the news: "What's the situation in the city? Is it stable?"
"The overall situation is not bad. The army still has a deterrent effect, and with the cooperation of the police, the situation has improved significantly. Though there are still some people causing unrest, most people have returned home obediently."
As the son of a high-ranking official, Chandan obviously had some privileges and was well-informed about what was happening outside the National University of Defense Technology: "The only problem is that there are already quite a few zombies in the city. Although they haven't formed a zombie horde yet, City C is too vast, and the thick fog is blocking our view. It's impossible for the current army and police to clear out all the zombies, so we'll have to wait for reinforcements."
Chandan paused and then continued: "In addition, the city government has redeployed some soldiers and police to surround the Jeevan Daan Hospital. However, due to the lack of heavy firepower and the foggy environment, they are unable to act. They're waiting for reinforcements to deal with the situation."
"What on earth is that monster that requires heavy firepower to destroy?"
Anirudh was shocked upon hearing this. Even military weapons, far more powerful than what was depicted in movies and novels, couldn't deal with this monster? It made him wonder how powerful it truly was.
"I don't know…"
Chandan sighed as he spoke about the monster: "It appeared suddenly, and the situation was chaotic. The thick fog made it impossible to see clearly. All we know is that the creature is a giant, around three meters tall, muscular, impervious to weapons, and has sharp claws."
"Right now… it's hiding in the hospital. No one dares to go in without reinforcements."
But Chandan quickly cheered up: "Don't worry, when the reinforcements from New Delhi arrive, that monster will be blown to pieces by tanks and rockets!"
"By the way, besides the monster in the Jeevan Daan Hospital, are there any other special monsters appearing in the city?"
Suddenly, Anirudh remembered the red giant monster he had encountered earlier.
Although it had a broken tongue and was seriously injured, its strength could not be underestimated, especially in this foggy environment. This monster, with its incredible speed, could become even more terrifying.
"One monster is already a headache, how many more do you want?"
Chandan laughed, shaking his head, before putting down his bowl: "Alright, we're almost done with the meal. How about we play a few games of Legends of Bharat to relax?"
"No time. I still need to look up some information."
Anirudh shook his head. He didn't have enough time at the moment, so he couldn't afford to play games.
"What information are you looking for? Do you want me to help you?"
Seeing that Anirudh wasn't interested in playing games, Chandan dropped the idea and instead offered: "I'm free now, so I can help."
"Sure!"
Anirudh hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Move your computer to my room."
"Okay!"
Chandan had always admired Anirudh, and this admiration grew after seeing him take down a dozen zombies by himself. Because of this, he eagerly agreed to help and ran to grab his laptop.
"This kid…"
Anirudh smiled and shook his head at Chandan's excited demeanor. He returned to his room and continued his research.
"Wow, Boss, you're upset? You actually have time to investigate these weird things at a time like this?"
Soon, Chandan entered Anirudh's room with his computer. He was surprised when he saw the strange information Anirudh had been searching for.
"I just received some news. The appearance of zombies is just the beginning of this apocalypse. Soon, other legendary ghosts, monsters, and even supernatural creatures from games may appear."
Since they had fought side by side before, Anirudh didn't hide anything from Chandan. He explained, "Don't you like reading about these things? It's perfect for you to help me collect more information, just in case."
"Are you serious?"
Chandan paused for a moment, then asked with a serious expression: "Do you have any way to prove it?"
"There's no way to prove it, but it's true. If you believe me, help me. If not, don't bother me."
The deadline for the system's three-day ultimatum was fast approaching, and Anirudh couldn't afford to relax. He sounded a little anxious as he responded.
"I believe you!"
Chandan trusted Anirudh deeply. Even though Anirudh couldn't explain where the information came from, Chandan still chose to believe him. He then opened his computer with a serious look and began helping Anirudh organize the data.
It was clear that Chandan had some knowledge of these horrifying creatures. With his help, Anirudh's work sped up.
"Huh?"
Suddenly, Anirudh's attention was caught by a photo on Chandan's screen.
It was a humanoid monster with no skin, towering muscles, and sharp claws. It looked terrifying.
However, Anirudh took notice of the image because the monster in the picture was about 80% similar to the bloody creature he had encountered earlier. The long, barbed tongue was identical. The only difference was that the creature in the photo had no eyes or skull, and its brain was exposed.
"What kind of monster is this?"
Realizing this, Anirudh grabbed Chandan in excitement and asked.
"This is the Licking Grandpa!"
Chandan explained, though puzzled by Anirudh's reaction: "The Licking Grandpa is a famous monster from the classic zombie game Resident Evil. Known for its speed and strong attack, it's a mutated zombie. Its full name is 'Licker.' Why are you asking about it?"
"It seems the post was right…"
Anirudh's eyes gleamed with realization: "Yesterday, I saw a creature similar to the Licker!"
"Damn, damn, damn!"
Chandan's eyes widened in shock: "You actually saw one? That thing is a real killing machine!"
"I'm sure I saw it. It's slightly different, but it's very similar."
Anirudh didn't mention that he had fought the Licker, fearing he would be treated as a freak. He simply said, "Why else do you think I spent so much time researching?"
"No, I have to tell my dad!"
Chandan understood the Licker's danger and knew that in the fog, its power would increase exponentially. He immediately picked up his phone to call his father.
However, the call didn't go through and was rejected.
Chandan then received a text message. Upon reading it, his expression changed.
"The reinforcements from New Delhi have arrived in the city. My father is meeting them now and preparing to head to the Jeevan Daan Hospital to wipe out the monster there."
The long-awaited reinforcements had finally arrived, but Chandan didn't feel relieved. Instead, he was filled with worry.
Because, in addition to the giant monster occupying the Jeevan Daan Hospital, there was also a terrifying Licker wandering around!
What if his father encountered the Licker?
"No, I have to do something!"
Worried for his father's safety, Chandan hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth, opened a system in the computer, and quickly entered a series of passwords.
Then, a video screen appeared on the computer screen.
The video is very clear. You can clearly see that this is near the Jeevan Daan Hospital of City C. There are fully armed soldiers all around, and you can even vaguely see the outlines of several tanks emerging from the fog.
This is actually a live broadcast from the military!
And judging from the direction in the picture, the destination of this army is most likely the Jeevan Daan Hospital of City C!
They are going to destroy that monster!
