Chapter 5 - 005 Infected

"Damn, You Boss, have you been injected with Steroids or something? You're amazing!"

Seeing Anirudh slaughter two zombies like a mad man, even smashing their heads with ease, Chandan, who had just been pulled back from the brink of death by Anirudh, couldn't help but exclaim in shock.

Reality is not a movie, and human heads aren't watermelons. As a top medical student, Chandan naturally knew how much force it would take to crush a head in one blow!

"There are still more than ten zombies—too many!"

However, Anirudh did not answer Chandan's words. Instead, he looked at the zombies swarming toward them and said in a deep voice, "Keep your distance from them, don't engage directly!"

After killing three zombies in a row, Anirudh's strength had nearly doubled. He could now easily handle a single zombie, but the problem was that 11 people had died in this car accident, and the medical staff who had just been bitten had also risen as zombies. There were still more than a dozen zombies to deal with!

In this relatively open area, even being surrounded by three or four zombies would be dangerous, let alone over ten!

Thus, Anirudh grabbed Chandan and retreated.

Behind them was the crash barrier from the car accident. Although it couldn't completely stop the zombies, it could hinder their movement to some extent, giving Anirudh a chance to pick them off one by one!

"Boss, have you been working out lately? You look slimmer, and you've even developed visible muscles!"

As they retreated, Chandan quickly noticed Anirudh's more defined muscle tone and was startled.

He remembered Anirudh as strong but a bit chubby, with no obvious muscles. But now, he seemed leaner and much more toned. Was this an illusion?

"Stop babbling! Stay alert; these things seem to be getting faster…"

Anirudh ignored Chandan's remarks, focusing instead on the zombies chasing them. His brow furrowed.

The zombies' walking speed seemed to be increasing, almost reaching a light jog instead of their usual staggering gait.

Although their current speed couldn't catch up to Anirudh and Chandan, it was enough to exert pressure. Moreover, zombies never tire, and if they escaped the barrier, it would spell disaster for the people in the nearby vehicles!

"They cannot leave the quarantine zone!"

With this thought, Anirudh's eyes hardened.

Beyond the quarantine zone were vehicles stuck in traffic. While the foggy weather meant there weren't too many cars, there were still enough to cause significant problems if the zombies broke free.

Luckily, the longer the zombies had been reanimated, the faster they moved, causing a gap to form between the earlier zombies and those who had just turned. This separation gave Anirudh an opportunity!

"Chandan, stay nearby, look for openings to strike, and help distract them. Be careful and stay safe!"

Noticing the widening gap between the two groups of zombies, Anirudh finally stopped retreating. He grabbed a traffic barrier from the ground and hurled it at one of the zombies.

These common cone-shaped barriers were filled with sand and weighed over 30 kgs. Most people would struggle to lift one, let alone throw it. But Anirudh's strength had doubled, and he wielded it with ease.

With a powerful throw, the barrier flew through the air like a missile, bypassing the lead zombie and smashing into the second.

Thud!

The impact sent the lightweight, emaciated zombie flying half a meter before it crashed to the ground, momentarily unable to get up.

At the same time, Anirudh lunged forward, swinging his crowbar and smashing it down on the lead zombie!

He had targeted the second zombie with the barrier to avoid being surrounded. This wasn't a video game—one mistake could be fatal!

Thud!

The zombie's strength might surpass an average human's, but Anirudh was stronger. With his blow, the zombie's head shattered like a cracked melon, and its body crumpled to the ground, twitching briefly before going still.

After killing several zombies, Anirudh had overcome his fear. Once fear was eliminated, fighting the zombies became much easier with his enhanced strength.

Without hesitation, Anirudh turned to the second zombie, swinging his crowbar downward.

Thud!

The unlucky zombie, still trying to get up, had its head crushed, showering the ground with brain matter.

A regular person might be horrified by such a scene, but Anirudh was a forensic expert who had seen countless corpses. Such brutality didn't faze him.

Anirudh continued his relentless assault, eliminating zombies one by one.

"Over here! Come at me!"

Meanwhile, Chandan created noise on the side to draw some zombies away. He threw objects at them, maintaining a safe distance to avoid getting caught.

With Chandan's help and Anirudh's growing confidence and efficiency, the front wave of zombies was soon wiped out. Only four newly turned medical staff zombies remained!

"We did it! We actually survived!"

Seeing Anirudh decimate the zombies, Chandan cheered and prepared to lure the remaining ones closer for Anirudh to finish off.

But in his moment of relief, Chandan slipped on a pool of blood mixed with brain matter, losing his balance and falling hard.

The remaining zombies lunged toward him.

"Ahhhhhh!"

Chandan screamed as he shielded himself with the crowbar, closing his eyes in terror.

He could handle one zombie, but four at once? He was doomed!

"Chandan!"

Anirudh roared in fury. He hurled his crowbar with all his strength.

Whizz—Thud!

The crowbar struck one zombie, knocking it off course.

"Get away from him!"

Anirudh charged like a predator, kicking one zombie away and grabbing another, throwing it aside.

Finally, as the fourth zombie's teeth neared Chandan's face, Anirudh grabbed its neck, stopping it mere centimeters away.

Chandan's life was saved!

But then, a sharp pain shot through Anirudh's left calf.

Looking down, he saw a zombie clinging to his leg, biting deeply!

"Ahhh! Mother fucker! Die!"

Overcome with rage and panic, Anirudh grabbed the zombie by the neck and yanked it away.

The zombie tore a chunk of flesh from his calf, leaving blood pouring out. But Anirudh ignored the pain, slamming the zombie into another one.

Crash!

Anirudh's doubled strength was too much. The zombies' skulls caved in from the impact, their bodies crumpling to the ground.
