The rays of sunlight breathed through the broken shutters and sort of sparked the gossamer threads of the spider's web at the corner of the prison's walls.
Rhett's head throbbed, although the pain was gone, there seemed to be a lasting headache in his head, to him, it seemed like it had gotten into his brain.
He smelled the foul, reeking stench of the place and it almost made him puke.
"Ash!", he called softly, although he said it with the force his lips could muster so it came out as a low shout.
Ash shook his head slowly and mumbled inaudible words that Rhett couldn't hear.
"Ash!", Rhett called again, only now, he was using some power to call it.
"I'm up, I'm up!", Ash said briskly.
Rhett said nothing, he only breathed hardly.
"What?", Ash asked, stretching his neck to look at him.
"It was here, man!, it was here", Rhett said, shaking his head sideways repeatedly.
"Who?",Ash asked.
"The Seer".
Ash's eyes were now wide open, he tried to speak a few words but nothing came out.
"What did it tell you?", Ash asked.
"It told-, it-, it told me to find a crimson sword, the crimson dragon hunters sword, it's somewhere here, he told me to find it and and-, use it to slay the ember dragon tomorrow", Rhett explained.
"But why's it helping you?".
"I honestly don't know, but it said I have potential. According to it, it said Slayerious has seen some potential in me and wants to help me".
"Why?".
"Because I've survived all along, from the ghost slayers ripping the kingdom apart to me going to the bizarre lands to me going to the pink lands and to me slaying the god slayer. All my deadly adventures, all of 'em', the Seer says I carry potential".
"So?".
"It said it hears and sees all I do, and that we are just mortals living in the Slayer's domain, that Slayerious is the real king, the supreme leader of the slayer's domain. Well it didn't put it that way but I guess that's what he means".
Ash remained silent, he was shocked by this revelation.
Rhett continued again: "It said after I slay the ember dragon I should go find the surviving dragon slayers and find a lost clan of the dragon slayers".
That stunned Ash. "Lost clan?".
"Yes, lost clan, it said even you didn't know we had a lost clan".
"So are you going to do as told?", Ash asked, facing Rhett.
That took Rhett into a short round of laughter. "Of course my good man, I do otherwise and I'm gone!".
Haicor yawned now and blinked repeatedly as she opened her eyes and turned her neck to look at the two.
"Morning guys", she said.
Rhett and Ash forced a smile. One that was quite painful to him.
"Good morning Haicor", they both said in unison.
"Hope you had a good night?", Rhett asked with a grin. He knew she didn't but how deadly could the question be.
Haicor chuckled, it was also a sort of painful act.
"You know the answer alright. I mean, never in my life have I been bound in chains, talk less of being bound for as long as this".
The hurried sound of footfalls made them pause to listen. It was coming their way. They all exchanged glances and looked at the steel door, knowing that any time soon it would be kicked open.
BAM!
The steel door was open just as they had thought it would. The dust that followed made the people standing in front of the door not to be too visible. Well, soon it cleared and they saw Knights clothed in knights armor running inside and coming their way.
Rhett looked at them in disgust as they ran up to their direction. He could remember some faces, well, he could remember the face of the guard who had beaten him when he resisted being bound in chains. He smiled at the thoughts, well, the guards were Knights now.
The fair guard with a just sprouting moustache came over to Rhett and spat in his face. That seriously peeved Rhett and if he hadn't been bound by chains, he would have delivered a punch into the face of the guards knight.
"Shit!, shit! you freaking bastard!, what the hell was that for!", Rhett exclaimed fuming with anger.
The guard (who is now a Knight) grinned and ignored the question. The other guards had started to lose the chains from Ash and Haicor and they just looked at Rhett indifferently, no sign of sympathy on their faces.
Haicor felt sorry for Rhett but she thought better of saying a word and so did Ash who just glared at the guard in anger.
The knights were nine in number and five were properly armed with shields and swords which they waved in the air to scare the prisoners against foul play.
Rhett, no longer in chains, stared at the guard who had spat on his face in disgust. He actually was tempted to hit him but thought better of it, moreover, doing so will only lead to more pain from him. And so, he only smiled and looked at his bare feet, wiggling his toes.
The guard hit Rhett on the face and that made him reel backwards and fall on the ground. Ash wanted to spark and act out of anger but Rhett halted him by raising his hands up.
"No, no!. I'm ok", he said, rising up. Turning to another guard, they asked politely. "So what are you here for, we want to know what to do next".
"Oh", said a guard. "We take you outside, cloth you in a Knight's armour and provide you with the necessary equipment to battle against the ember dragon, we've even prepared a sword for you".
Rhett smiled, a sort of sinister one. "There's a sword here, in this prison, I intend to use that one in battle".
The guards exchanged puzzled glances.
