Vante's hand gripped Vienna's smooth neck so tightly that she couldn't breathe. It made Vienna's eyes turn red.
Vante continued to corner Vienna on the pavilion wall.
"Who do you think you are?!" Vante rebuked fiercely, his hatred bubbling visibly in his eyes. "You will never defeat me, Vienna! I'm the heir apparent to this family! Don't dream you can unseat me! Mom and Dad only love me, damn you!"
"Coward." V whispered, haltingly, and croaky. She had never been terrified of death. V had always wanted to die in peace, but life's destiny had always played tricks on her—and forced her to live a sickening life again and again.
I do not fear death!
V's eyesight began to blur and darken; she was numb as if steel chains were squeezing her entire body tightly—stressing her to the point of helplessness.
